As paranoia builds and fractures deepen, the lines between purpose, fear, and identity blur. The film, shot in L.A. in just three days, unfolds in a single, 90-minute unbroken take.

Lili Reinhart, best known for playing Betty Cooper on the hit CW series Riverdale, has signed on to star and produce an adaptation of the popular romance novel The Love Hypothesis for Amazon MGM Studios, according to Deadline. Reinhart will play Olive Smith, a biology PhD candidate who enters into a fake relationship with a difficult yet attractive professor named Dr. Adam Carlsen, who will be played by Tom Bateman, before the two begin developing real feelings for one another. The film will be directed by Claire Scanlon, who previously directed the 2018 Netflix romantic comedy Set It Up starring Glenn Powell and Zoey Deutch. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” returned for its third and final season Wednesday, and the love triangle is not over yet.
Four years after the events of Season 2, Belly and the Fisher brothers will spend another summer at Cousins Beach. Belly (Lola Tung) just completed her junior year of college and is happily dating younger brother Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Though the couple’s relationship seems stronger than ever, Conrad’s appearance at the place where Belly fell in love with him reopens old wounds of her first love and heartbreak.

AMC Networks’ presence will be very strong at Comic-Con International this year, as they present multiple panels and a Shudder activation centered around Clown in a Cornfield. The film was a hit in theaters in May, and will soon be streaming on Shudder and AMC+.

Per Deadline, Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired the US rights to Rapture, a new medieval zombie horror movie starring Poulter, Kit Connor, and Manu Ríos. Rapture is expected to begin filming later this year, and IFC is reportedly aiming for a 2026 theatrical release. Jordan Tannahill is attached to direct the film. “At Madhouse, we champion stories that offer fresh perspectives on cultural conversations, illuminating the nuanced gray areas of our social and cultural landscape,” explained the co-founders in a statement to Deadline. “We believe exceptional creativity comes from wild imagination and we strive to promote female, queer, and Bipoc-led voices and stories.”
Madhouse opens with a multi-genre slate that includes narrative features, as well as docs and shorts developed in collaboration with emerging and established talent. The company is an exec producer on Forbidden Fruits, the debut feature of writer-director Meredith Alloway, on which we were first to report. Currently in post, the film produced by Academy Award winner Diablo Cody centers on the members of a witchy femme cult.

“Forbidden Fruits grabbed me by the neck the very first time I read it,” Cody told Deadline. “It’s one of the craziest, most creative, beautifully bonkers projects I’ve ever worked on.
The film is an adaptation of playwright Lily Houghton’s stageplay Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin and Through Her We All Die. Alloway and Houghton are co-adapting.

Exclusive: Oscar winning Juno scribe Diablo Cody is producing the feature directorial debut of Meredith Alloway, Forbidden Fruits.
Alloway is co-adapting the feature with playwright Lily Houghton off the latter’s play Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die.
