Exclusive: Writer-director Jessica Barr has wrapped production on The Plan, an ambitious thriller starring Eve Lindley (Dispatches from Elsewhere), Ryan Simpkins (The House), Jordan Hull (The L Word: Generation Q), Frank Mosley (Some Beasts), Percy Hynes White (Wednesday), An-Li Bogan (The American Society of Magical Negroes), Logan Miller (Escape Room), and Arkira Chantaratananond (Twinless).

The Plan takes place inside a modest Los Angeles apartment over the course of a single day, watching as a group of disillusioned young adults prepares for a radical act they believe will change the world. As paranoia builds and fractures deepen, the lines between purpose, fear, and identity blur. The film, shot in L.A. in just three days, unfolds in a single, 90-minute unbroken take.

Pic is produced by Alexander Gould (Weeds), Sarah Whelden (who also served as Dp), Kelly Wilcox, and Madhouse Films. Ryan Ward and Mariah Leath exec produced.

It's been a long time coming for The Summer I Turned Pretty fans, but the third and final season has finally made its premiere. Season 3 arrived on July 16 with two brand-new episodes that set the stage for season full of romance, drama, and shocking moments we might not have seen coming. The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung was previously announced to be part of the cast for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot sequel, along with Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and Grotesquerie star Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Lili Reinhart, best known for playing Betty Cooper on the hit CW series Riverdale, has signed on to star and produce an adaptation of the popular romance novel The Love Hypothesis for Amazon MGM Studios, according to Deadline. Reinhart will play Olive Smith, a biology PhD candidate who enters into a fake relationship with a difficult yet attractive professor named Dr. Adam Carlsen, who will be played by Tom Bateman, before the two begin developing real feelings for one another. The film will be directed by Claire Scanlon, who previously directed the 2018 Netflix romantic comedy Set It Up starring Glenn Powell and Zoey Deutch. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” returned for its third and final season Wednesday, and the love triangle is not over yet.

Four years after the events of Season 2, Belly and the Fisher brothers will spend another summer at Cousins Beach. Belly (Lola Tung) just completed her junior year of college and is happily dating younger brother Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Though the couple’s relationship seems stronger than ever, Conrad’s appearance at the place where Belly fell in love with him reopens old wounds of her first love and heartbreak.

The third and final season brought back several returning faces but also added several new cast members. Isabella Briggs and Kristen Connolly joined the cast as series regulars. Other new faces joining Season 3 include Sofia Bryant, Lily Donoghue, Zoé de Grand’Maison, Emma Ishta and Tanner Zagarino.

AMC Networks’ presence will be very strong at Comic-Con International this year, as they present multiple panels and a Shudder activation centered around Clown in a Cornfield. The film was a hit in theaters in May, and will soon be streaming on Shudder and AMC+.

Comic-Con International is held in San Diego at their Convention Center, and will run from July 24 through July 27.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Will Poulter's new horror flick, Rapture, just received a positive update coming out of the Cannes Film Festival as IFC and Shudder have officially acquired the film.

Per Deadline, Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired the US rights to Rapture, a new medieval zombie horror movie starring Poulter, Kit Connor, and Manu Ríos. Rapture is expected to begin filming later this year, and IFC is reportedly aiming for a 2026 theatrical release. Jordan Tannahill is attached to direct the film. Rapture will serve as Tannahill's feature film debut.

Exclusive: Rising producers Katherine Romans and Charlie Traisman have formally launched Madhouse Films, a new indie production company with a mission to center underrepresented voices and push creative boundaries across film and television.

“At Madhouse, we champion stories that offer fresh perspectives on cultural conversations, illuminating the nuanced gray areas of our social and cultural landscape,” explained the co-founders in a statement to Deadline. “We believe exceptional creativity comes from wild imagination and we strive to promote female, queer, and Bipoc-led voices and stories.”

Madhouse opens with a multi-genre slate that includes narrative features, as well as docs and shorts developed in collaboration with emerging and established talent. The company is an exec producer on Forbidden Fruits, the debut feature of writer-director Meredith Alloway, on which we were first to report. Currently in post, the film produced by Academy Award winner Diablo Cody centers on the members of a witchy femme cult.

CBC has just renewed five of its original series. Among the shows set to return is the fan-favorite police procedural Wild Cards, starring Riverdale alum Vanessa Morgan.

Per Deadline, CBC has handed out a massive two-season renewal for Wild Cards, which is made by Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, and Piller/Segan in association with The CW.
