Talking 'The Wannabe' With the Cast
It's not everyday I get to sit across a bunch of wiseguys from some of my all time favorite TV shows, so picture my nervous excitement when we were invited to meet Michael Imperioli, Vincent Piazza and Nick Sandow last week. The three talented actors have teamed up to star in another kind of mob film called, The Wannabe, written and directed by Sandow. Unlike their past roles as mobsters in The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, Imperioli and Piazza take on different roles in the flick, which was based on true events circling the infamous Gotti trial in 1992.

Obsessed with mafia culture and fitting in, Piazza plays a delusional and desperate guy with a plan to fix Gotti's trial, get him off and become part of the familia. When his plan falls apart, he and his girlfriend played by Patricia Arquette, team up as "Bonnie and Clyde" to embark on...

The Wannabe – The Review
It’s rare that I find myself questioning the judgement of Martin Scorsese, but after having seen The Wannabe, which he co-executive produced with Dean Devlin, it’s inevitable, even if it is short-lived. Directed by Nick Sandow, the film tells the story of Tom & Rose, an ambitious couple, but not well endowed with common sense or street smarts. The film is based upon real-life events that occurred around the trial of mafia boss John Gotti, an unusual case of celebrity obsession, if you will.

The Wannabe, as silly as the title sounds, is just that. It’s the story of a social outcast who dreams of being a big-shot gangster and tried very hard in his own, pathetic way, to make those dreams a reality, when all it really accomplishes is chaos, death and destruction. On it’s own, this is a fairly generic, albeit not poorly made movie of average entertainment value.

Patricia Arquette and Vincent Piazza in The Wannabe (2015)
Aspiring to follow in the professional footsteps of your hero is often believed to be an admirable goal to have, especially when you’re transitioning into a new phase of your career. But that ambition isn’t always the most commendable one to have, as your desired line of work could be illegal, unethical and dangerous, and the people you wish to emulate aren’t guaranteed to appreciate you. With the new crime drama ‘The Wannabe,’ which marks his second turn behind the camera, writer-director Nick Sandow proves that trying to mirror the achievements of those people he respects, like Martin Scorsese, who served as one of the film’s executive producer, is a [ Read More ]

Last November, Pixar made the announcement Toy Story fans had been waiting for, revealing that Toy Story 4 is finally happening. Today we have word that the studio has begun casting, with Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette entering talks to join the voice cast. The Wrap reports that Patricia Arquette will play a laid-back hippie mother in the animated sequel, although no further character details were given.

Patricia Arquette in Talks for 'Toy Story 4'
The Wrap reports that Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette (“Boyhood”) is in negotiations to join Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen returning to voice Woody the cowboy and space ranger Buzz Lightyear.

Arquette is supposedly voicing a laid back hippie mom according to a source close to the production. Pixar veteran John Lasseter is directing from a script written by the screenwriting team of Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, which Lasseter explains will be a love story between Woody the cowboy and Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts).

Disney has announced a June 15th, 2018 release date which will see the Pixar-animated feature competing against Warner Bros. Pictures “Godzilla” sequel and Universal Pictures “Jurassic World 2.” Arquette is currently starring in “CSI: Cyber” on CBS and will next be seen in the crime drama, “The Wannabe”, with Vincent Piazza.

Watch: Vincent Piazza in Crime Story 'The Wannabe' Official Trailer
"Now one told you to go rob the Blockbuster, you were on your own." Entertainment One has unveiled an official trailer for Nick Sandow's The Wannabe, starring Vincent Piazza as Thomas, a kid who set out to fix the 1992 trial of John Gotti. It's essentially a wacky little story about a kid who wants to be a part of the mob glory involving Gotti, and devises a crazy, bold plan to get himself in the center of everything. Patricia Arquette co-stars, Martin Scorsese executive produces; the cast includes Domenick Lombardozzi, Michael Imperioli, Doug E. Doug, Nick Sandow, Vincenzo Amato, and Joseph Siravo as John Gotti. This honestly doesn't look that memorable, but if you're into mob films maybe you should take a look. Vincent Piazza and Patricia Arquette Rob the Mob In Trailer for Scorsese-Backed ‘The Wannabe’
It’s hardly uncommon for New Hollywood figureheads to support (often in the executive producer position) a project by young, up-and-coming filmmakers that recalls their own work. If only that list – which includes the Transformers series, Super 8 (Spielberg both), Willow (George Lucas), the Jeepers Creepers series (Francis Ford Coppola), and Snabba Cash (Martin Scorsese) – was a little better. (Our favorite example? Last year’s The Better Angels, which has Terrence Malick’s stamp of approval.) But the endorsement should count for something. Should.

It’s Scorsese’s executive producer credit that’s compelling us to share this trailer for The Wannabe, a New York-set, Gotti-era mob movie that features his (relatively speaking) Boardwalk Empire stars Vincent Piazza and Patricia Arquette. Reviews from its Tribeca showing have been respectful at best and shrugging at worst, which is, in some sense, perceivable from this preview — a bit of work that almost seems...

Robert Pattinson at an event for Twilight: Chapitre 2 - Tentation (2009)
Exclusive: Oscar-winner joins sci-fi alongside Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth.

Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) has joined Robert Pattinson (Twilight) and Mia Goth (The Survivalist) in the cast of Claire Denis’ anticipated untitled sci-fi, written by UK novelist Zadie Smith (White Teeth) and Smith’s writer husband Nick Laird.

Denis’ English-language debut, due to shoot next year, is understood to follow a group of skilled criminals who, in a bid to escape their long sentences or capital punishment, accept a likely-fatal government space mission to find alternative energy sources.

The project, which ScreenDaily first reported in June, marks an intriguing change of direction for the White Material and Beau Travail writer-director.

The story is based on an original idea by Denis and her regular writing partner Jean-Pol Fargeau, and is due to go into production early next year.

Producers are Oliver Dungey (Miss Julie), Laurence Clerc and Olivier Thery Lapiney from Paris-based Alcatraz Films, and [link=nm...

Jessica Biel, Patricia Arquette and Vincent Piazza Explore the Lure of Violence in New Tribeca Films
Jessica Biel
There’s a world of difference between a yoga instructor from Los Angeles and a mob-obsessed ex-con from New York – but in the hands of actors Jessica Biel and Vincent Piazza and in the films “Bleeding Heart” and “The Wannabe,” both flirt with the lure of violence in films that had their world premieres on the first two days of the Tribeca Film Festival. Mind you, the films and the two characters don’t really have that much in common: one character lives her life shunning violence before she’s tempted to change her mind, while the other wants nothing more than.

Kate Mulgrew, Natasha Lyonne, Selenis Leyva, Laura Prepon, Taylor Schilling, Uzo Aduba, Dascha Polanco, and Danielle Brooks in Orange Is the New Black (2013)
If we learned anything about the wardens on the second season of Orange Is the New Black, it’s that they’re just like us. [Warning: Spoilers through season two of Orange Is the New Black to follow.] We watched as Healy tried to work on his anger-management issues in therapy (sort of), O’Neill strummed the banjolele, and, most memorably of all, Joe Caputo rocked out as the bass player in the bar band Sideboob. The last moment inspired Vulture to get on the phone with Nick Sandow, the actor who portrays new assistant warden Caputo. He told us about learning (or rather, learning how to fake-play) the bass, the sexual element of power, and working with producer Martin Scorsese on The Wannabe, an upcoming film he wrote and directed. But first, can we talk about Fischer? He fired Fischer!I can’t believe you fired Fischer!Yeah. I can’t believe I did, either. I know he regretted...

Electric Entertainment Marks First Major Territorial Sale of ‘God’S Pocket’ Starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman to Arrow Films in the United Kingdom
Los Angeles-based Electric Entertainment and Arrow Films have announced the latter has taken all United Kingdom rights to John Slattery's feature directorial debut God’s Pocket. The film, which originally drew much heated bidding for the foreign rights, was acquired by Electric at Sundance this year and became part of their high profile slate at the European Film Market in Berlin. Arrow Films, a distribution company that has seen success with the release of films like Love Is All You Need, the Academy Award-nominated The Hunt and A Hijacking, plans to release the film in U.K. theaters later in 2014, with IFC Films handling U.S. distribution.

Electric’s Head of International Distribution Sonia Mehandjiyska negotiated the deal with Tom Stewart, Acquisitions Director for Arrow Films.

“Upon seeing the film for the first time, I was so compelled by Philip Seymour Hoffman’s performance and John Slattery’s take on the material that I made it a point to personally pursue the rights for our company,” said Electric’s CEO Dean Devlin. “This is just the first step in presenting this film to world audiences, and we look forward to working with Arrow in bringing it to film fans in the UK.”

“The film stands as a great example of just what a wonderful actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was and to see such a rich ensemble cast perform at the top of their game alongside him provides a fitting testament to the late star. We’re thrilled to be collaborating on our first picture with Electric Entertainment,” commented Stewart.

The film stars an A-list cast led by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Jenkins, Christina Hendricks, John Turturro and Caleb Landry Jones.

God’s Pocket was written by Slattery and Alex Metcalf , and produced by Sam Bisbee, Jackie Kelman Bisbee,Lance Acord, Slattery, Emily Ziff and Hoffman through his Cooper’s Town Productions. The film is a Park Pictures Film in association with Cooper’s Town Productions and Shoestring Pictures. The film is based on the novel by acclaimed author Pete Dexter.

Slattery, who plays Roger Sterling on AMC’s Mad Men had previously directed a number of episodes of that series, but this marks his feature film directorial debut.

When Mickey's (Hoffman) crazy stepson Leon (Landry) is killed in a construction 'accident,' nobody in the working class neighborhood of God’s Pocket is sorry he's gone. Mickey tries to bury the bad news with the body, but when the boy's mother (Hendricks) demands the truth, and a local reporter (Jenkins) starts sniffing around, Mickey finds himself stuck in a darkly comedic life and death struggle. A body he can’t bury, a wife he can’t please and a debt he can’t pay.

Electric Entertainment’s international sales division launched last year at the American Film Market and is currently selling The Wannabe, which is executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Dean Devlin and Traction Media, and stars Patricia Arquette , Vincent Piazza , and Michael Imperioli . The company also has international rights to Hannah Espia’s Transit (Read our Revie Here), and Boys of Abu Ghraib, directed by Luke Moran and executive produced by Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz and Rogan Donelly.

Michael Imperioli Talks Oldboy, Working with Spike Lee, Chucky’s Real Opinion on Joe, The Wannabe, and More
Whereas both Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen have to live up to the expectations set by Min-sik Choi and Hye-jeong Kang in Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy, Michael Imperioli has the luxury of portraying a character from the manga that’s yet to make it to the big screen. Brolin leads as Joe Doucett, a brash selfish drunk who’s suddenly plucked off the streets and thrown into solitary confinement for 20 years. Even though he comes out a changed man, the people in his life are left with the impression he made before his disappearance and nothing more. Fortunately for Joe, his life-long pal Chucky (Imperioli) is willing to give him a second chance. In support of Oldboy’s November 27th release, Imperioli sat down with Collider in New York City to talk about his many collaborations with Spike Lee, what drew him to the role, whether or not Chucky really...
