A privileged Delhi socialite hires a middle-class student to pose as her boyfriend to maintain her social status. Their pretense becomes complicated when genuine feelings develop between them.

Pia Jaisingh (Khushi Kapoor) is a privileged South Delhi teenager who struggles in a dysfunctional family. Her misogynistic father, Rajat Jaisingh (Suniel Shetty), always wanted a boy instead of Pia and is now having an affair with a younger-girl named Anahita (Riya Sen). Pai's mother is the long-suffering socialite, Neelu (Mahima Chaudhry). They live in a joint family with grandfather Dhanraj (Barun Chanda).

Pia studies at Falcon high school, where all the rich kids study. Rhea and Sahira have been Pia's best friends since childhood. They spent their entire childhood together, but then Pia started flirting with the school hottie Ayaan and had less time for her friends. She hid the relationship from Rhea and Sahira and even ignored them for bonfire night, lying that she went to Europe with her family for a vacation.

After bonfire night, Pia has a clash with her best friends Sahira (Aaliyah Qureishi) & Rhea (Apoorva Makhija). Sahira thinks that Pia is having affair with Ayaan Nanda (Dev Agasteya), after seeing his flirty messages in Pia's phone. Rhea and Sahira feel betrayed as they felt that they defended Pia's reputation in front of others and yet Pia was the one who kept them in the dark. Sahira feels very strongly about this as she has had a crush on Ayaan since childhood. To make Sahira believe that she is not having an affair with him, she tells her friends that she already has a boyfriend.

One day, Pia finds Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan), a middle-class, career-focused student from Greater Noida. Arjun has joined the school on scholarship for the last year. The winner of the International Debate Championship gets a direct admission into an Ivy League School in the US. Arjun is elected as the captain of the debate team by defeating his privileged opponent Aakash Goenka (Agasthya Shah) in a debate. Arjun's mother Nandini (Dia Mirza) teaches at the same school, while his father is a doctor.

Pia convinces Arjun to be her fake boyfriend by paying him Rs 25,000 per week. They start meeting each other, where Pia gets Arjun to pose for her in intimate photos, but where his face is hidden. Pia plans to share the photos on social media and establish Arjun as "the mystery guy", with a big reveal on her birthday. Pia starts sharing pictures of them on social media. Her best friends are now convinced that she is not having any affair with Ayaan, and they reconcile.

Pia's mother watches the photos on her account and calls Pia. She wants to know if the boy is from their social status and a reputable family. Neelu wanted Pia to marry Rudra, a real-life Prince. But Rajat feels that Rudra is 5 years older to Pia and not a good match. Pia unveils Arjun to everyone at her birthday party at her home. Everybody assumes that Arjun is from a royal family. Neelu finds out that Arjun is from a middle-class family and embarrasses him in front of the whole party. Arjun books a cab to leave the party, but Pia begs him to stay, and they talk it out.

Rajat, meanwhile, is more accepting of Arjun and invites him for a family dinner. Later at a dinner night with family, Rajat learns that Arjun is going to take part in an international debate competition, and he encourages Pia to also be a part of it. Rajat was deriding Pia for having no interest in law and says he had hoped for a son who could become a lawyer and carry in his footsteps. Arjun stands up for Pia and says that she has superlative logical skills and a sharp mind, and that she would be a great lawyer if she wanted to.

Arjun who was initially reluctant about Pia participating in the debate competition, also agrees. After that, they both start falling in love. Meanwhile, Ayaan's ego is hurt, and he wants to seduce Pia just so he can humiliate Arjun. Ayaan tries to humiliate Ayaan for his humble background at a party with Pia and his friends. But Pia stands up for Arjun and tells Ayaan to give up his elitism.

Mrs Braganza, the principal, informs Arjun that based on his academic and sports performance, he would be eligible for a full scholarship to an elite college in UK. Arjun was planning to go to the National Law College in Haryana, as that is all he could afford.

On Diwali night, Pia gets to know about her father's affair and learns that Anahita is pregnant. Pia is devastated. Rajat announces that he wants to divorce Neelu and marry Anahita, and Pia believes it is because Rajat thinks that he will finally get a boy that he so dearly wanted all along.

Pia and her mother go to her maternal house. She also breaks her phone by throwing it away in frustration, that night. Unfortunately, the debate competition is the day after, and Pia forgets about that. Arjun has meanwhile been calling Pia and sending her messages. On Diwali night, Pia was dancing with Rudra and Aakash spends no time in rubbing it to Arjun that Pia might have had sex with him. Arjun goes with the rest of the team and thinks that Pia used him just for time-pass and did not even want to join the debate club. Arjun is so confused that he freezes in the debate, leading to a loss for his entire team.

Later, Pia and Neelu go to Rudra's palace (a family friend) to spend some time. During that time, a photo of Rudra and Pia, taken by a journalist, is posted on social media saying that they are having an affair. Pia later gets a new phone from Rudra. She remembers about the debate competition and is shocked to see her photo with Rudra on social media. Moreover, Arjun is very angry after seeing the photo and has blocked her. When Pia tries to convince Arjun about what happened, he insults her in front of the whole school, telling everyone about their deal. He says that Pia paid him, so she could get Ayaan off her back and could pretend to Sahira that she never flirted with Ayaan.

Since Arjun wrote an aggressive application letter to get a scholarship at London universities, his writing is rejected and he is told to rewrite them by his teacher, Mrs Braganza (Archana Puran Singh).

Later Arjun's father Sanjay (Jugal Hansraj) tells him how one need to work on a relationship. Sanjay says that Arjun needs to decide if he wants to fight for Pia or let her go. Arjun slowly starts to cool down. Later on that night, Mrs Braganza comes to his house and tells him that he has got the scholarship after resubmitting the application. But Arjun is not the one who submitted it, it was Pia. Arjun also comes to know that Pia's parents are going to get divorced. This is when Arjun realizes the blunder he has made.

Arjun tries to call Pia, but she does not answer. Later on, bonfire night, he apologizes to Pia and proposes to her, to which she agrees. Arjun eventually goes to London and Pia stays in India to study at a national law college, where Arjun earlier wanted to study.
