Okay, so let me just start by saying-I watched Documenting Love ONLY for Pratyush Sharma. I've been following him for a while, and when I saw that he was starring in a web series, I was like, "Yep, this is it. I'm watching." And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!
First off, the whole mockumentary style? Genius. I don't think I've seen anything quite like this in Indian web series before. It felt so natural, like I was peeking into real relationships, and it made everything super relatable. The whole red flag/green flag concept is honestly such a fun way to explore modern dating, and trust me, if you've been on dating apps or have had a questionable situationship, you will feel this series.
But let's talk about Pratyush Sharma because-oh my god-he absolutely killed it as Sid Saha. I know, I know, he was literally the walking red flag of the series, but HOW can someone make being a red flag look so... charming?! He has this effortless way of making you want to root for him even when he's obviously in the wrong. That's what makes the series so brilliant. It doesn't paint people as purely good or bad; instead, it gives you all the messy, complicated, and often hilarious realities of relationships. And Pratyush? He completely owned his role.
The chemistry he had with Jahanvee Dawda (who played Jenny) was so on point. Their interactions were so natural and painfully real at times. It made me cringe, laugh, and scream "GIRL, RUN!" at my screen more times than I can count. But the thing is, we all know a Sid. Some of us have dated a Sid. And that's why this series works so well.
Beyond just Pratyush, I have to give props to the entire cast. Shivam Jemini as Aditya and Tapasee Khare as Akanksha were fantastic. They added so much depth to the friend group dynamic, and their comedic timing was chef's kiss.
Also, can we talk about how insanely well-directed this is?! Shivam Jemini did an incredible job keeping the humor fresh and the pacing tight. It never drags, and each episode leaves you wanting more. The editing, the dialogue, the way certain moments are shot-everything feels so fresh and engaging. It's honestly rare to find a series that makes you feel like you're watching your own group of friends go through drama.
Also back to Pratyush, one more thing I have to say is that I love that he took on a role like this. Playing a character that represents all the bad dating habits we complain about must be tough, but he does it with so much charm and authenticity. He doesn't play Sid as a full-on villain; instead, he's that guy who doesn't realize he's the problem, which honestly makes it even more accurate. And the way he subtly brings out Sid's emotions beneath all the "cool guy" exterior? Ugh, SO GOOD.
