Originally Anthony Ciccotosto was cast as Martin Cole, but after Olivia Charlotte's audition for Rose the producers felt that he was too young to play opposite her. So David Partridge, who had been the reader for Cole in the auditions, was cast.
During filming cast referred to the film as The Selfie City, due to the high level of behind the scenes photography that was taken.

The Silent City heirloom was originally a cube-like box with an insignia but the producer and director felt it should be more mysterious, so it became a pyramid.
The cast and crew had alot of trouble with fire alarms during filming. On two nights at different locations, fire alarms started and were unable to be switched off due to the late night shoot time. The cast and crew had to film around the breaks in the alarms.
