Although Iran continues to hold the sceptres in the region as its largest movie industry, the cinema of other countries from the region finds an increasing numbers of way out, with Kazakhstan’s genre movies for example. At the same time, festivals all around the world continue to nurture movies from the region, whose approach is definitely of independent style, but not exactly arthouse, at least not all the time. “Songs of Adam” and “Seed of the Sacred Fig” definitely stood out this year due to their quality, just like “Sima’s Song” and “From Ground Zero” did for their significance

DC Comics superheroes will be delivering justice in James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted cinematic universe, but they'll be doing it on their own, at least for now. The new Dcu has been the target of countless rumors and false reports as Gunn has revealed several new upcoming projects in the franchise. DC Studios recently announced some new projects, including a Bane/Deathstroke crossover film, a Dick Grayson/Jason Todd animated movie, and a live-action Teen Titans film (finally!). Thanks in part to the latter team-up project, and the already-announced heroes appearing in the new Dcu, fans assumed that DC Studios already had plans to make a Justice League movie, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Taking on Threads, James Gunn played his favorite pastime of calling out the blatantly false rumors about the new DC Universe. In the past, the director and co-president of DC Studios...

The DC Universe has a knack for making movies with some brilliant performances, though not every great actor in the franchise is given their dues for a phenomenal character portrayal. It's easy to recall some of the DC Universe's best movie performances, with Christian Bale's Batman, Heath Ledger's Joker, and Christopher Reeves' Superman all coming to mind in the conversation. However, there are just as many unsung heroes of the various DC cinematic universes that never got the recognition they deserved for their fantastic character work.
Actors working under the DC banner have been unfairly glossed over for several reasons. Sometimes, the characters they played were undercut by choices that were no fault of the actor playing them, such as editing, writing, or even wardrobe and makeup. In other cases, their performances are simply overlooked because of the fact that they're overshadowed by other Oscar-winning DC character performances in the same movie,...

There’s no question Carrie Coon broke out with HBO series “The Leftovers.” Landing that role was a big deal for the actress. “I had little on-camera work up to that point,” she told IndieWire over Zoom. “I had done some commercial work in Chicago. I had done one guest star on ‘The Playboy Club,’ with Laura Benanti. I didn’t have that much on-camera experience.”
But a Tony nomination for her performance as Honey in Steppenwolf’s 2012 production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” opened doors to meetings with casting directors — and her husband Tracy Letts. Ellen Lewis had Coon in for an audition. “I met with Damon [Lindelof],” said Coon. “I shot the pilot, which was only one speech, and then I went off and did ‘Gone Girl,’ which I also booked off a tape in my living room. I went through David Fincher boot camp. [‘The Leftovers’] was my first series regular job.
