But lots of past nominees are back in the game — Severance, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Andor, and Squid Game are all predicted to make the lineup once again. But which, if any, new show will join them? There's Paradise, which has been a hit for Hulu. There's The Pitt, which as been a hit for Max. There's The Day of the Jackal, which has been a hit for Peacock. At the moment, only The Pitt is in the top eight. But what if they all miss for familiar names like Yellowjackets,...

A new Landman season 2 casting report addresses Jon Hamm's status and reveals a new star has been cast in a main role. Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace's hit Paramount+ show is based on Wallace's podcast Boomtown, and follows Billy Bob Thronton's Tommy Wallace, as he navigates the oil fields of West Texas. The show has enjoyed critical acclaim, with Landman season 1 concluding in January 2025. In March 2025, Paramount renewed Landman season 2, and the season is set to see a shakeup among the cast of the show.
Per a report in Matt Belloni's newsletter for Puck, Sam Elliott has joined the cast in an undisclosed main character role. Jon Hamm has made a career out of playing emotionally complex "heroes" on TV, and he's returning to do it again for the new Apple TV+ series, Your Friends & Neighbors. No one would expect a guy like Jon Hamm to be robbing his neighbors.
In Your Friends & Neighbors, Hamm steps back into leading man role for his Apple series when he stars as Coop, a family man who bets on just that fact when, after he did it all — he got the cars, the house, the stuff — it all comes crashing down.
Newly divorced and having lost his job, Coop (Hamm) decides to start robbing his rich neighbors. “Rich guy loses his big job, has liquidity problems, turns to petty crime. That’s not savvy, that’s stupidity,” he’s told. “Maybe it’s just desperation,” he replies in the trailer (below).
The drama has already been renewed for a second season ahead of launch. Your Friends & Neighbors releases its nine-episode first season on April 11 with two episodes, followed by a weekly episode release on Fridays through the May 30 finale.

We’ve seen Jon Hamm play a depressed divorced dad on TV before — but even Don Draper didn’t go to these extremes.
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for Your Friends & Neighbors, a new drama debuting Friday, Apr. 11 and starring the Mad Men alum as a hedge fund manager who resorts to robbing houses in his richy-rich neighborhood after being fired. In the trailer, which you can watch below, Hamm’s character Andrew “Coop” Cooper gets the boot from his boss (in a hot tub, no less!) and sinks into a Don Draper-esque downward spiral of moping and...

Jon Hamm adopts a dangerous, illegal revenue stream in the first trailer for Apple TV+’s “Your Friends and Neighbors.”
Hamm stars in the new drama from “Banshee” creator Jonathan Tropper as Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a hedge fund manager whose picturesque life in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village community is first disrupted by his sudden divorce from his wife (Amanda Peet). When he is then unexpectedly fired in disgrace, Coop decides to start robbing the homes of his rich neighbors in order to maintain his wealthy facade.
“Life boils down to a series of interconnected decisions,” Coop says in the “Your Friends and Neighbors” trailer. “No one would ever suspect a guy like me.” As confident as he may be about his turn to petty crime, though, it looks like it won’t take long for Hamm’s antihero to find himself caught up in an increasingly dangerous web of secrets and lies.

Are the outies at the Emmys ready to show Severance some major love after its three-year absence?
Apple TV+'s buzzy sci-fi series currently claims the No. 1 position in Gold Derby's Best Drama Series Emmy odds. Season 2 has been airing since mid-January, with a finale date scheduled for March 21. In 2022, the first season of Severance nabbed 14 total nominations and won two Emmys for main title design and music composition, but it fell short of the top prize. Will it expand the haul this year?
Created by Dan Erickson, Severance follows a group of characters played by Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, and Zach Cherry as workers at the sinister Lumon Industries who agree to separate their workplace memories from their external memories. This weekend at the Severance panel at SXSW, director-executive producer Ben Stiller said, "It's been fun to watch how the audiences have gone beyond the concept … and...

Exclusive: Colin Bates (Queer) and Ella Kennedy Davis (Your Friends and Neighbors) will topline These Little Ones Perish, an indie drama from director Alex Noyer (Sound of Violence), which has wrapped production in New York.
For Noyer, the circumstances surrounding the shoot were extraordinary, as he went to set just one week after losing his home in the devastating Palisades fire that destroyed over 6,000 structures. Hailing from Genco Pictures and You Know Films, the project is an adaptation of the play by Patrick Hamilton, who penned the script.
The story begins after a young altar boy’s tragic death by suicide in a local church. Father Frye (Bates) discovers the body, only to face resistance from the church hierarchy, the local police and the surrounding community. His investigation is driven by the grief and distrust of the boy’s older sister, Siobhan (Davis), as well as the church’s apparent urgency to bury the truth.

Exclusive: Corbin Bernsen (Clipped) has wrapped production on Woodstockers, an indie TV pilot for which he wrote the original draft, in which he stars opposite Stephen Tobolowsky (Nobody Wants This).
The original logline for the dark generational comedy teased the story of “two guys who went to Woodstock in ’69 and never left,” with Bernsen and Tobolowsky respectively playing friends Lenny Baker and Cal Reddick. But per Bernsen, who relocated to the Hudson Vally six years ago, “Early on I had the good fortune to connect with Michael Lang, one of the original organizers of Woodstock, and quickly discovered a deeper story about the 60’s and a generation who espoused ‘Love and Peace,’ but failed in their early attempts to ‘change the world.’ At the same time, I witnessed a new generation dusting off the “hippie” mantra and giving it their own spin.”

Apple TV+’s limited series Lucky has added a second big name to its cast.
Annette Bening will star opposite Anya Taylor-Joy in the drama, which is based on Marissa Stapley’s best-selling novel of the same name. The series centers on Lucky (Taylor-Joy), a young woman who has left an earlier life of crime behind her but is drawn back in as she attempts to escape her past.
Bening will play Priscilla, who in the novel is a thief and a thorn in Lucky’s side.
Apple TV+ ordered the series in December from creator Jonathan Tropper (See, the forthcoming Your Friends & Neighbors) and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine (the novel was a Reese’s Book Club selection). Apple Studios is producing.

Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher, Gal Gadot, Jon Hamm, and fan favorite Patton Oswalt along with director Greg Mottola (Superbad), couldn't save their 2016 action comedy, Keeping Up With the Joneses. The film should have been a solid comedy hit, but instead tanked at the box office and was savaged by critics and audiences alike. However it has found new life on streaming, and sits at number four on Max's Top 10.
Keeping Up With the Joneses had the star power and director to get audiences excited about the film. Galifianakis was riding high with the Hangover trilogy, as Hamm earned major praise and awards as Don Draper on Mad Men (which ended the year before). Meanwhile, Gadot had been cast as Wonder Woman and appeared in Fast & Furious 6. Fisher appeared in hits like Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Before donning a cape and becoming a paragon for supervillainy as Homelander in The Boys, once upon a time Antony Starr played a sexually irresistible criminal impersonating a sheriff in the Cinemax series Banshee. Despite the last episode of the show airing in 2016, the series has found a bump in interest on streaming as the hyper-violent crime thriller is now in the Max Top 10 TV charts.
Co-created by Jonathan Tropper - who also created Warrior and the upcoming Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors - Banshee is the story of an ex-con who assumes the identity of a deceased incoming sheriff to Banshee Pennsylvania. Under this new identity of Lucas Hood, the fake sheriff attempts to reconnect with his former lover, dodge the attacks from a powerful crime lord, all while dispensing his own brand of small-town justice. It's a wild ride with splashy action that doesn't ground itself too deeply in reality.

Hello, dear reader. You tune into this website because we write about Netflix stuff. The truth is that while we adore the streamer, we also are human enough to know there is stuff worth watching beyond Netflix. Barely, but some.
The funny bit is that Netflix is so important and huge that many of these shows will probably eventually find their way to being streamed on your favorite subscription service. If someone wants a lot of views then they will go to Netflix.
Still, it would be a disservice to you to not know what excellence might eventually be coming to the streamer. Maybe a few years from now, but you'll need to know. And here are five shows that should not be missed.
Five non-Netflix shows you should watch in 2025The Paradise (January 28 on Hulu)
Put Sterling K. Brown into nearly anything and you are probably going to be a winner.

Jon Hamm liked being called the “male Nicole Kidman” on CNN’s New Year’s Eve show. He recognized his busy schedule in 2024 in terms of film and television.

Exclusive: Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista will star in an untitled action comedy that Jonathan Tropper is scripting for Amazon MGM Studios and Agbo. The film is inspired by an actual sting in which agents posed as a couple to infiltrate global criminal enterprises. It culminated in a staged wedding in New Jersey. When the crime bosses checked in for their table assignments, they were arrested and dragged away so as not to tip off the next suspect.
The film will be produced by Agbo principals Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Tropper. Agbo brought the package to Amazon MGM, its partner on a second season of Citadel and the upcoming feature The Bluff. Also producing are Hathaway through her Somewhere Pictures banner and Bautista through his Dogbone Entertainment banner.

These days, for better or worse, it's hard to imagine the movie and TV industries without Rotten Tomatoes. The review aggregator has become the go-to vibe-check for the majority of audiences, as well as a huge gauge for studios of how their latest projects are faring. Some would argue that the site's binary fresh/rotten review scale is simple to the point of harming discourse, and many users still don't fully understand how Rotten Tomatoes' scores and badges actually work. That said, it's impossible to deny the site's impact, and we might not have it at all if not for the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker-led 1998 action-comedy "Rush Hour."
As explained in a 2021 Rotten Tomatoes editorial, founder Senh Duong was a huge Jackie Chan fan. "Rush Hour" marked the actor's first major North American release, which gave Duong a thought -- it was difficult to find different critical thoughts...
