Ashley Sutton is set for a guest star role in “Yellowjackets” Season 3.

Sutton will appear alongside previously announced guest stars Joel McHale and Hilary Swank in the new season of the Paramount+ with Showtime series. The official description of “Yellowjackets” says the show is the “saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Ashley Sutton Joins ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3
Image
Ashley Sutton (Monsters) will appear as a recurring guest star in the third season of Yellowjackets on Paramount+ with Showtime, Deadline has learned.

Details as to the role Sutton is playing are under wraps, but sources tell us she’ll appear in three of 10 episodes. As a guest star, she joins Joel McHale, who will also appear this season, as previously reported. The show is set to return with its first pair of new episodes just in time for Valentine’s Day, on February 14, with the episodes to debut on linear on February 16.

Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Love Reality TV? You’ll Hate This Horror Movie
Image
It may be cliché to say, but that doesn't mean it isn't true: nothing is scarier than real life. Despite this, not many reality shows try to embrace the horrific possibilities of the genre; while some attempt to scare their cast, this is often done in either an extremely goofy way to make viewers laugh or so unbelievably that not even the stars believe it. There is one type of reality television, though, that is utterly terrifying in both the content and what it says about the medium, a kind of program that Inner Demons portrays eerily well.

Salem Horror Fest 2024 Kicks Off With Scream Queen Linnea Quigley and ‘The People’s Joker’ [Event Report]
Image
From venue changes and the pandemic to political backlash and the threat of litigation, Salem Horror Fest founder and director Kay Lynch has never been one to back down. The festival’s seventh annual event, which kicked off last night at Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum, was further proof of her resilience.

After its original headliner, Hocus Pocus star Kathy Najimy, canceled with less than 48 hours notice, the festival’s entire opening night ceremony was restructured. On lieu of the original $50 ticket charge, the program was made free (with the option to make a donation), costing the festival an untold amount of money.

But the show must go on — and it did so in spectacular fashion with horror icon Linnea Quigley sitting down for a live interview, while the Hocus Pocus screening was replaced by The People’s Joker, previously scheduled to be the festival’s closing film.

Billy Campbell in Rocketeer (1991)
The Rocketeer 2 in Development at Disney+, Sleight Director Offers His Services
Billy Campbell in Rocketeer (1991)
The planned sequel to The Rocketeer is reportedly back on track, and Sleight helmer Jd Dillard is volunteering to direct the project himself. Back in 2016, it was announced that Disney had greenlit a sequel to the original movie called The Rocketeers with Max Winkler and Matt Spicer penning the script. Updates have been scarce on the project's status ever since, but a new report from The DisInsider suggests The Rocketeer 2 is back in development with Boomerang writer Azia Squire writing a new draft of the screenplay.

According to the report, The Rocketeer 2 is also intended to stream on Disney+ as opposed to bringing the franchise back to theaters. Brigham Taylor (Lady and the Tramp) is also reported to produce alongside Noah Weinstein (Inner Demons) and the NBA's Blake Griffin and the NFL's Ryan Kalil. However, no director has yet signed on to helm the project, leaving the door...

Bergman's Spell
Mubi is showing the retrospective The Inner Demons of Ingmar Bergman from June 8 - August 28, 2017 in the United Kingdom.I've told this brief story of how I fell under the spell of cinema so many times I've become brazen to it. At eighteen years, in February 1993, I found Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers (dubbed) at the video store. As Woody Allen spoke of the Swede in hushed tones, I decided I should try a film. Ninety minutes later I sat stunned and spellbound, not sure what to do or think, but surely sure I must be onto something. Cinematic rapture still has a psychical aspect for me, the torque the sedentary body goes through while coping with the images before it. I can always tell how good a film is if my armpits smell after. The body doesn't lie. Ingmar Bergman is an easy crush—one writer I know...

Slfs Interview: Ashley Seering – Co-Director of The Heroin Project
The Heroin Project screens Wednesday, July 22 at 5:00pm at the Tivoli Theater (6350 Delmar Boulevard St. Louis, Mo 63130) as part of this year’s St. Louis Filmmaker’s Showcase. Also on the program are the shorts Pedaling To Stop Pushing and Inner Demons. Ticket information can be found Here

The Heroin Project raises awareness about the devastating impact of heroin. Although focused on events in Madison County, Ill., the film documents a widespread but under-discussed problem that affects not just the St. Louis metro area but the entire country. Beyond the monetary cost of increased law-enforcement efforts and goods stolen from businesses, the negative effects of heroin are more accurately measured in the ever-growing number of young lives lost. Ashley Seering, co-director of The Heroin Project along with Cory Byers, took the time to answer some questions about her film.

This month's release of IFC Midnight's found-footage horror movie “Inner Demons” (pictured above) marked Robin Schorr‘s maiden voyage into the potentially lucrative world of microbudget filmmaking. As her equity finance and production company Schorr Pictures continues to develop studio-sized projects as well as several TV series, Schorr is taking her destiny into her own hands by moving into the microbudget space, which has yielded lucrative returns for a handful of producers including Jason Blum of “Paranormal Activity” fame. “We have a development fund that allows us to autonomously invest in IP. 'Inner Demons': Anatomy of a New Indie Paradigm, Watch Scary Clips
Inner Demons (2014)
At the Los Angeles Film Festival last summer, producer Robin Schorr screened indie midnight horror flick "Inner Demons" for audiences and buyers, crossing her fingers that she would land a good distribution deal for the found footage movie. The movie's set-up: we're looking at footage of a recovering teen heroin addict and her family from the TV series “Step Inside Recovery," the sort of reality show that "Inner Demons" director Seth Grossman once produced. Those around her assume her symptoms are those of withdrawal, but one cameraman believes that she may be possessed. IFC Midnight scooped up the film and released it day and date on October 3 in theaters and on VOD. (Here's the Nyt review.) In today's changing distribution landscape, Schorr was relieved to be able to reach audiences in theaters as well as multiple platforms. "We all know for so many movies theatrical is not an...

Inner Demons Review
Do I believe there are demons and devils living among us in parallel realms, just waiting to be summoned by a wayward soul whose heart has been consumed by darkness? I remain a cautious skeptic, because I’ve seen too many horror movies to know the (implicated) risks that such investigations carry, but I do believe there are “demons” swimming inside every one of us. Addiction, rage, jealousy – it’s our inner demons that loom like threatening storm clouds, something writer Glenn Gers and director Seth Grossman acknowledge by slamming emotion and the occult together in a thunderous boom. Their film, Inner Demons, captures one unlucky addict’s battle with narcotics and the occult during an Intervention-esque reality program, making way for a found-footage watch that’s deeply rooted in a hazy reality.

The film follows Carson Morris (Lara Vosburgh) and her struggle to kick a nasty drug habit,...

Exclusive Interview with Director Seth Grossman for ‘Inner Demons’
Reality television shows can take a wrong turn into horror especially when a demonic possession is involved.

From former reality TV producer Seth Grossman, “Inner Demons” follows an intervention-style reality show crew trying to film a sixteen-year-old girl fighting a drug addiction. However, she was suffering from something even more destructive—a demonic possession. The movie is an inquiry into the truth about her—with symptoms between the disturbing and scary intersection of insanity, addiction and true possession.

The film stars Lara Vosburgh and Morgan McClellan.

Latino-Review was granted an exclusive interview with Grossman to discuss the production of this horror film. We talked about the young actress, the worlds of addiction and demonic possession and even relating the behaviors of hyenas to demons.

“Inner Demons” is playing in select theaters and available on VOD today.

Inner Demons – The Review
Directed by Seth Grossman, written by Glenn Gers. With Lara Vosburgh, Morgan McClellan, Colleen McGrann

Lara Vosburgh, remember that name. If there is any justice in the world of media production, film, television, theater, what have you, Lara Vosburgh should have a bright and interesting career ahead of her. Inner Demons works overtime thanks to her talent which is nothing short of astonishing.

Inner Demons is presented as a faux documentary, in fact it is presented as a video work in progress, all raw footage shot with hand held cameras and caught on security video systems. Much like Blair Witch Project and the many shot on video films that came in its wake, Inner Demons uses the grounded in reality of shot on video to present an outrageous situation with a believability that is at times, yes, horrifying, and scary.

Carson Morris is a young girl with problems. A video...

Review: Inner Demons is an Intervention You Should Skip
When it comes to found footage, the biggest challenge is coming up for a reason to be shot that way. This leads to the “guy who films everything” scenario or the “camera crew” scenario”, both of which are less than convincing. The new film Inner Demons attempts to bring something new to the table by taking place during a Reality-style Intervention show. Is it successful? That is going to depend on you.

Catholic school good girl Carson (Lara Vosburgh) is not quite the girl she used to be. Having gone from an A student to failing heroin addict, as well as becoming the poster child for The Craft remake, her parents are understandably concerned. Not knowing who to turn to, parents Steve (Christopher Parker) and Beth (Colleen McGrann), do what any responsible family would, they turn to reality TV. Enter reality show parasites producer/host Suzanne (Kate Whitney), cameraman Tim...

Bridget Hoffman in Evil Dead (1981)
Philadelphia's The Awesome Festival becomes Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival
Bridget Hoffman in Evil Dead (1981)
Philadelphia's Awesome Fest sounds… well… awesome. To be clear, though, it appears this is an evolution of the already-existent event, which is now being called The Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival. As you would expect with a name like that, Bruce Campbell will indeed be there as part of the four-day event in Rosemont, Il, where they'll also be screening a slate of horror titles curated by Scott Weinberg, horror maven and the resident critic at the just-killed FEARnet. They'll also have panels, and they've got some great ones planned. Overall, it looks like a really cool chance to see a fistful of the best of what indie horror has going on right now with bonuses that simply make the weekend better. From August 21 to August 24, you'll be able to check out some great films. How? Well, here's how they put it: Tickets for All screenings are free to attend...

Genre label IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. rights to Inner Demons, a possession tale about an Intervention-style reality TV crew filming a 16-year-old (Lara Vosburgh) fighting addiction who actually might be possessed by a demon. Morgan McClellan, Colleen McGrann, Kate Whitney and Brian Flaherty also star in the pic scripted by Glenn Gers and produced by Robin Schorr, which premiered at the La Film Festival in June. Laff 2014: Exclusive Interview with Lara Vosburgh and Director Seth Grossman for ‘Inner Demons’
Following a similar path with “Paranormal Actvity" start at a film festival, the movie “Inner Demons” revives the found footage horror films at the Los Angeles Film Festival this year.

The truly scary movie takes a different tact with an intervention reality television show trying to save a young girl from drug abuse. Unbeknownst to the production crew, family and rehab center, the girl is actually possessed by an evil spirit trying to get out.

The film marks the first starring role in a feature film for Lara Vosburgh. It is directed by Seth Grossman (“The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations”).

Latino-Review had an exclusive sit down interview with Vosburgh and Grossman after their screening at the film festival. We discussed the idea of found footage, horror movies in general and the challenges in acting and makeup.

Read the full transcript of the interview below.

The Best and Worst Advice Laff Filmmakers Have Ever Received
Ravi Patel
With the 20th La Film Festival now underway (until June 19), Indiewire sent out questionnaires to filmmakers with films screening at Laff asking them a variety of questions as part of the How I Shot That series. Many of these filmmakers were eager to disclose some of the best and worst advice they have received in their careers. Check out some of the advice below.  Best Advice: "If you reference something correctly in a documentary, you can use it for free under 'public domain.' Love that." -- Director Ravi Patel ("Meet the Patels")  "Do the big scares first, make sure you got them right, and then move on to the rest of the movie." -- Director Seth Grossman ("Inner Demons") "The best advice came from (my cinematographer) Seamus Tierney and my production design professor at AFI, Robert Boyle ("North by Northwest," "The Birds," "In Cold Blood," "Cape Fear"). He had...

How I Shot That (Laff Edition): Combining Practical SFX With Performance for 'Inner Demons'
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken, Catherine Keener, and Mark Ivanir in Le Quatuor (2012)
Screenwriter of "A Late Quartet" (Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener), director of "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelation" and producer of "On the Rocks: The Search for America's Top Bartender," Seth Grossman is about to premiere his new film "Inner Demons" at the Los Angeles Film Festival. [Editor's Note: Indiewire reached out to filmmakers with films playing at the 20th La Film Festival (June 11-19) to ask them about how they shot their indie, and what advice they had for other filmmakers. We'll be posting their responses throughout the run of the festival. Go Here for the master list.] What camera and lens did you use? We shot with a Red, and used Canon zoom lenses to recreate the feeling of handheld reality shooting. What was the most difficult shoot on your movie and how did you pull it off? Probably the final kill shot at the end of the film was the most difficult, as it combined practical SFX with performance and we only had one...

‘Inner Demons’ Review: If the Devil’s In the Details He’s a Sloppy Son of a Bitch
At this point I have to believe that filmmakers planning to shoot found footage films pretty much never stop to ask themselves the simple question… why? Fine fine, budgetary reasons. Sure sure, there’s an audience for it. But shouldn’t filmmakers maybe have a narrative reason for the format too? If the movie can be filmed more traditionally without any real change or impact on the story itself, then maybe it doesn’t need to be found footage. If your editing — complete with music cues — betrays the logic of your chosen format, then maybe it doesn’t need to be found footage. If you can’t explain in a single sentence how an audience is viewing your movie (under the guise of it being “real”), then maybe it doesn’t need to be found footage. Inner Demons doesn’t need to be found footage. Carson (Lara Vosburgh) is a teenage heroin addict. Once...

Inner Demons Getting Set for Release
Demons, man. We all have them. They make us eat too much, drink too much, and engage in activities that we know are bad but we do anyway. In fact they can screw us up so badly that a quick possession every now and again seems like the least of our worries. But in any event...
