I really enjoyed watching this drama it was funny and there are scenes in which you could laugh. I really liked the story and how they live together and they have a lot of problems and they still try to live a normal life even when people say things behind their back. I really like the story behind it and the message they are trying to convey. I really like the choice of the actors and i think it was well shot. I cant wait for the next episode i really like hwang in yeops acting as well as the other lead i think overall it was good and well executed. I also really like the connection and frienship between them. It is really sweet and cheerful.

An interesting drama about an unusual family headed by a widowed restaurant owner and his daughter who take in two children after they are both deserted by their mothers. The father of one of the boys also joins the group and the story shows their closeness as children and then due to family circumstances their drifting apart to be reunited later. It is based on a Chinese series "Go Ahead" and follows the original quite closely. It does handle the romance side better but overall I prefer the flow and story and interactions of the original. That does not detract from the fact that this version is still enjoyable and worth a watch.

I've been a huge fan of actor Hwang In-yeop ever since I saw him play the second lead in the hit K-drama "True Beauty." I've also watched his other works, such as "Why Her," "18 Again," and "The Sound of Magic." As for the female lead, Jung Chae-yeon, I recognized her from the K-drama "Golden Spoon." I also know Bae Hyun-sung, who played the character Kang Hae-jun in K-dramas like "Hospital Playlist," "Our Blues," and "Sweet Home" Season 3. Honestly, the stellar cast had me hooked from episode one.
I won't be comparing this to the Chinese version, "Go Ahead," since I haven't seen it. This drama was so good! After seeing the thumbnail with two boys and one girl, I expected a messy love triangle, but it was so clean and straightforward! The bond shared by the three main characters was emotional and heartwarming to witness. It was such a breath of fresh air.
The only sad thing was that we only had four episodes of San Ha and Ju-won's dating era. The story primarily focused on repairing broken familial relationships, which meant that the second leads, Hae-jun and Park Dal, didn't get as much attention. Still, I enjoyed their cute little love story on the side. I love how the complicated familial relations were portrayed. The leads had electrifying chemistry right from day one, and I honestly loved the writing. The dialogues were well crafted and effectively conveyed to the international audience.
I'm so happy to finally see Han Seojun get the girl, lol! I'm sad that it ended yesterday. It was definitely worth the wait and watch. Don't miss out on this one! Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

I dont really understand why people are so obssessed that if a drama is a remake it has to be exactly the same. This needs to be different and thats the whole point!! I am throughly enjoying the show and watched it without a pause till ep 7. So great so far . At first I was skeptical about the female lead acting but i really enjoyed her as well as the show continued. Its just your paradox nothing else. This show is really good if you keep your judgements aside!!!
Hwang in yeop 💜 Watch this without any judgements and you wont regret.
The actors really did a great job and so did the female lead.

Family by Choice is a heartwarming drama that beautifully explores the theme of chosen family. The story revolves around three individuals who come together, each carrying their own past wounds, and through their shared journey, they begin to heal. As an adaptation of the popular Chinese drama 'Go Ahead,' Family by Choice adds its own charm to the narrative, making it a unique experience.
The storytelling is light and relaxing, yet it tugs at your heartstrings with serious topics like abandonment, depression, trauma, and loss. The pacing is fast enough to keep you engaged without feeling rushed, allowing you to enjoy each character's journey step by step while avoiding any drag. The acting is undoubtedly good, and the dialogue is well thought out, relatable, and, of course, heartwarming and emotional.
Overall, Family by Choice is a great drama.

I'm usually the type to binge series, especially those short ones and I still enjoy them regardless but this one, this one gave us so much content among those 12 episodes I sat down and enjoyed each one. I'm a sucker for good family/friend dynamics and this one portrayed them great. All the relationships are so deep and meaningful I cherished each one. I loved how I saw their lives unfold during these episodes, from children to teenagers and teenagers to adults. I loved how they showed us how important family is despite blood relations and I loved every character because they all had such great and different stories. What I wasn't that fond of was the main couple, who I thought were a bit uncomfortable and unnecessary -because they ruined a great family dynamic- but throughout the episodes they grew on me and I understood their story. This series broke me and then put my pieces back together. Incredible, easy to watch, beautiful and playful. I recommend it and easily give it a 10/10.
I do get that k-dramas, even when they are boring are somewhat comforting! You cannot simply relate to any other drama industry that way, but it happens naturally with k-dramas. The story, characters, actors, everything was good, however I skipped a lot of scenes. They should have wrapped up the story in 10 episodes instead of 16. A lot of scenes seemed stretched. It would have turned out better that way. A lot of people watched this drama because of Inyoup but if we do a comparison, True Beauty had a far better storyline. Inyoup, as expected pulled his character really well and so did the other actors. But the episodes after episode 6 were very much skippable and I couldn't keep watching the whole episode. Given the rating I expected more, but was somewhat disappointed. There are a lot of other kdramas with a much better story and the fact they have lower ratings is very upsetting. Also there was next to none chemistry between the main leads... It seemed rushed and forced.

Wow! This drama impressed me way more than I had expected! To sum up 'Family By Choice', this is whait I will say: This show is about 3 kids, one girl and two boys. They are not related by blood but form a bond when they are little, almost like siblings. They grow up together and this basically is just about their lives being together, and the struggles they have to go through as all of them do indeed have family problems. Before you watch: Half of the show (8 episodes), they are in high school. And the other half they are adults. Despite this shows' joyful cover, it is very emotional and a lot of the scenes are very touching and emotive. The main roles are played by Hwang In-Yeop (True Beauty, The Sound Of Magic, Why Her?), Jung Chae-Yeon (The Golden Spoon, My First First Love, former member of DIA and I. O. I.), and Bae Hyun-Sung (Gyeongseong Creature 2, Miraculous Brothers, Our Blues). Personally, I think the cast did an AWESOME job portraying their characters. This show was very heartfelt and inspirational, and I loved it! I will give this a 10/10!

I started Family by Choice for Hwang In Youp, and I fell for him all over again! His portrayal of Kim San Ha was absolutely breathtaking-his emotions, depth, and presence made me love him even more. Every scene he was in felt real, and I couldn't take my eyes off him!
But beyond In Youp, this drama had everything. The story was an emotional rollercoaster-heartwarming, heartbreaking, and funny in all the right moments. The bond between San Ha, Hae Joon (Bae Hyun Sung was AMAZING), and Joo Won was so touching. It proved that family isn't just about blood, but love, loyalty, and unwavering support.
From powerful performances to stunning cinematography, Family by Choice is hands down one of the best K-dramas of 2024. If you love heartfelt, emotional, and realistic storytelling, this is a must-watch! You won't regret it!

"Family by Choice" has its moments, but it doesn't quite hit the mark overall. The show's chaotic energy between the three main characters is what stands out, keeping things lively and unpredictable. The dynamic between them is definitely entertaining, and it's easy to get hooked on their wild, offbeat interactions. On top of that, the romance between the lead couple had me squealing - their chemistry is undeniable, and the heartfelt moments are sweet.
However, despite these fun elements, the show still feels a bit lacking in some areas. The pacing can drag at times, and while there are bright spots, the overall storyline doesn't fully captivate. It's a decent watch, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it could've been more engaging. The potential is there, but the execution left me wanting a bit more. At a solid 6/10, it's worth checking out if you're into romance and a touch of chaos.

Korean Drama '' Family By Choice '' is a family melodrama with some romance thrown in the mix.
The drama has a solid family drama plot, as it navigates the dynamics of multiple families and their atypical family arrangements. Thus, it is filled with emotional scenes and many twists.
On the other hand, the romance was predictable and full of cheesy scenes. It was also overshadowed by the family drama, fortunately, which had a stronger plot.
In addition, the performances were all great by every actor and actress in the cast.
So, overall, seven out of ten for the Korean drama '' Family By Choice ''.

I'm sorry but you cannot even compare. I could say that it's because Kdrams have limited time of 16 episodes but the original series everything makes sense, you can understand the characters since they follow a more realistic storyline while in this adaptation you get a total different Female lead, weaker and fooler. You cannot find the siblings deep connection in the beginning and it's too obvious how it will turn out if there isn't even a love triangle (the secondary role is embarrassing). I like the authors but not what has been done as a remake of a good series and its love and family plot.

Absolutely worth one's time. It has a lovely heartwarming vibe throughout the whole series. It is about family love and warmth, family nostalgia, loving unconditionally and what a great parent looks like. But what I loved the most was the characters. Such wonderfully written characters, not perfect but loving, accepting and empathetic. The father is a lovely figure, Juwon (the daughter) is a bundle of joy but with self growth, Sanha represents the pain caused by toxic parents, and then there's my favorite, Kang HaeJun. What a deep character, and what a stunning performance did Bae Hyun Sung give. The pain, the love, the smile, the tears. He's in my heart forever. Thanks for this drama, honestly.
