With the penultimate season of The Chosen just beyond the horizon, Prime Video is shifting its gears and lining up another Biblical epic. Today, the streamer has given a straight-to-series order for a brand-new production titled Joseph of Egypt, which is set to come from The Chosen’s home of 5&2 Studios. Set to feature Bridgertonand Criminal Record star, Adam Hashmi, in the leading role, the project will be backed by 5&2’s very own Craig Wright, who also pens the series. As of right now, a release window has yet to be set, but we do know that filming is already underway in New Mexico.

Amazon Prime Video has officially ordered the Biblical drama “Joseph of Egypt” to series, Variety has learned.

Variety exclusively reported the show was in development at the streamer back in June. Production is now underway in New Mexico, with Adam Hashmi cast in the lead role of Joseph.

The official logline for the series states, “In this iconic Old Testament story, betrayed by jealous brothers, Joseph (Hashmi) defies all expectations and rises to incredible power in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. But when his past catches up with him, he is confronted with the ultimate test.”

Along with Hashmi, series regulars include Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah.

Hayley Williams has surprise-released 17 new songs on her website. It hasn't been revealed yet whether the new tracks signal a new album on the way or are entirely a part of a new project, though the singer did release all the songs at once, much to the surprise of her fans. It is only available on her website as of now as part of the newly released product of the Paramore frontwoman's Good Dye Young hair dye company. The web page leading to William's new songs is password-protected, and fans may only access it through a 16-digit code, which is sent via email. However, there's a catch: they must purchase the new product called "Ego" first.

Production is now underway on writer/director Ted Evans’ debut thriller “Retreat,” starring Anne Zander, James Boyle and Sophie Stone, with Ace Mahbaz and Anna Seymore rounding out the cast.

The film, featuring an all-deaf principal cast (Evans is also deaf), is set in an isolated deaf community, where cracks begin to appear in Matt’s (Boyle) seemingly idyllic world when the arrival of enigmatic outsider Eva (Zander) forces him to question the realities of his identity. XYZ Films is handling worldwide sales on “Retreat” as a part of their New Visions slate of films, an initiative designed to spotlight the boldest new voices alongside established talent striking a new path in the international space. Actor Van Hansis is set to join the cast of General Hospital to take over the role of Lucas Jones. The actor has talked about his transition to the series, including how similar he feels Jones is to another soap character he’s played. The role also allowed Hansis to reunite with a former castmate from a previous soap.

Starting in early October, Hansis will take on the role of Lucas Jones. The character is the son of Julian Jerome and Cheryl Stansbury and was adopted by Dr. Tony Jones and Bobbie Spencer.

Since his introduction in 1989, the character has been played by a variety of actors, starting with his on-screen birth. Originally played by multiple child actors, some notable actors to play him since he had been aged up include C.J. Thomason, Ryan Carnes, Ben Hogestyn, and Matt Trudeau.

Japanese director Tanigaki Kenji has completed production in Bangkok, Thailand, on his upcoming film “The Furious,” intended as an elite-level Asian martial arts actioner.

Written by Mak Tin Shu, the film follows a simple tradesman (portrayed by mainland Chinese star Xie Miao) who fights his way through a complex web of criminals and evil agents in a frantic attempt to win back his kidnapped daughter by any means necessary.
