Chicago Fire Season 12 Adds New Paramedic Following Kara Killmer's Exit
Image
Chicago Fire has hired its latest replacement for departing paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). Jocelyn Hudon will join as a new paramedic in a recurring role with the potential to become a series regular in season 13. Hudon is known for her roles in Hallmark movies and other television titles, including The Strain.

Chicago Fire's newest Sylvie Brett replacement has joined the cast. The show, which is the flagship program of the NBC network's interlinked One Chicago franchise, follows the employees of the fictional Firehouse 51 in the Chicago Fire Department. One of the firehouse's key personnel was paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), who has been part of the show since she joined the team at Ambulance 61 in season 3. However, Killmer left the show midway through the ongoing season 12 after playing the role for 199 episodes, which led to Brett's in-universe wedding and departure from the team.

Per Deadline, the show is adding...

A Simpsons Plotline Waited for Two Decades - And Still Worked
Image
The Simpsons fans have often talked about storylines that haven't aged poorly, or episodes that are specifically reflective of a particular time and place. With the series on for so many years, it's not uncommon to see the same idea more than once, or one that wouldn't work as well today. But one concept that was shelved during the show's Golden Age was dusted off almost two decades later -- and turned out better as a result.

The idea of Homer Simpson becoming a hairdresser was first suggested as a B-plot for a Season 4 episode of The Simpsons. Although it was cut back then, the idea was revisited by a different team for Season 22's "Homer Scissorhands." Resurrecting a seemingly unusable subplot and being able to turn it into the main plot of another episode, especially after the passage of time and staff turnover, speaks to how enduring the creativity of The Simpsons is.

“You Might Think it’s a Fun Work About Pizza, But It’s Really a Meditation on Mortality and Gentrification”: Director David Shapiro on his Sundance Premiering Doc Series, Untitled Pizza Movie
Before there was the no-budget Best Buy scam (scoring equipment by cycling through 30-day return policies) there was the Crazy Eddy scam — same deal, except that instead of the corporate anonymity of Best Buy’s Death Star big box there was a scrappy local circuit embodied by a screaming man feigning mental illness on late-night television. (“These prices are insane!!!!”) And before there was Eater, Grub Street and Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown there was Eat to Win, a kind of punk foodie travelogue in which friends David Shapiro and Leeds Atkinson tooled around New York City with their Crazy Eddie […]...

‘Eat’ DVD Review
Stars: Meggie Maddock, Jeff Maez, Ali Francis, Dakota Pike, Jeremy Make, Christine Olyer, Stacy Pederson, Nate Bakke, Maru Garcia, Olivia Hendrick, Aaron Lenius | Written and Directed by Jimmy Weber

The horrors of Hollywood strike again. After last years hit Frightfest flick Starry Eyes, which took a very supernatural look at the price of fame; comes 2014′s other L.A. set terror tale, Eat; a more visceral look at the perils of fame and the price people pay in the pursuit of it. Two films which could not be more stylistically opposite yet themetically identical…

Novella McClure is like a lot of struggling actresses in Los Angeles: she’s in her early 30s, her fake name sounded cooler ten years ago, and she hasn t landed a role in three years. To top it all off, she’s developed a disturbing self-harm habit for coping with stress – she bites herself and eats her own flesh.

Eat Offers Up Only One Disturbing Menu Choice

Eat, from director Jimmy Weber, creates a disturbing tone as the character Novella (Meggie Maddock) gnaws through her own body. She even goes back for seconds and thirds. As well, a trailer for the film was released late last year, but some indie horror fans might have missed it; the clip is hosted below. For more on the story, Novella is facing a stark reality. She is nearing her 30s, in Los Angeles as an acting hopeful. Not likely to act ever again, Novella's desperation turns into anxiety and then into a hunger for human flesh - her own!
