‘Pulse’ Season 1 Cast Revealed: Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell Star in Netflix’s Very Own Grey’s Anatomy
Image
Netflix seems to have checked the audience’s pulse for what the genre of the year is and is coming out with a medical drama to compete with Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt. The streaming platform’s first foray into the genre will be the drama Pulse, which is set to premiere on April 3, 2025, and will see an emergency crew deal with hurricane victims.

The series comes on the heels of Max’s The Pitt, which has been garnering rave reviews so far. The cast of Netflix’s show seems to include former alumni from the streaming platform and some new faces. While Willa Fitzgerald headlines the series as the recently promoted chief resident, several others round out the cast. Here is the cast of Pulse.

1. Willa Fitzgerald – Danielle ‘Danny’ Simms

Willa Fitzgerald is best known for her work in the shows Reacher, House of Cards, and more. The actress...

Daredevil: Born Again Has So Far Ignored Karen, but I Really Hate Feige for Replacing a Favorite Character With Cherry
Image
Daredevil: Born Again has been growing on me since its sort-of disappointing premiere episode (I may have had high expectations after the Netflix originals). It was great to see Matt back in the suit again, and the parallels between him and Wilson Fisk are tastefully done. What is not tastefully done is the show’s proxy for Foggy and Karen: Cherry.

Clark Johnson’s Cherry shows up in the opening scenes of the premiere, with his retirement party being the setting for the battle between Bullseye and Daredevil. He gets to know Matt’s identity as Daredevil and later becomes a Pi for Murdock and McDuffie. He basically does what Foggy, Karen, and Brett Mahoney used to do on Daredevil, but he is so boring.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Cherry adds very little to the personality of the show McDuffie, Matt, and Cherry in Daredevil: Born Again | Credits: Marvel Studios...

Trust the Man: Daniel Radcliffe, Lucas Hedges sign on for Vietnam War thriller
Image
BAFTA nominee Daniel Radcliffe (the Harry Potter franchise) and Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea) are set to take the lead roles in the Vietnam War thriller Trust the Man, which Deadline reports will be directed by Will Graham, whose credits include an episode of Daisy Jones & The Six (which earned him an Emmy nomination). This is the second Daisy Jones & The Six director we’ve talked about today, as Nzingha Stewart – who was at the helm of four episodes of that limited series – will be directing the first episode of The ‘Burbs TV series.

Given that Radcliffe left the Harry Potter franchise behind 14 years ago, I should note that some of his more recent work includes Miracle Workers, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and The Lost City. In addition to Manchester by the Sea, Hedges’ credits include Honey Boy, French Exit, and Shirley.

Graham has...

Scream 7 Casts Riverdale Actor in Mystery Role
Image
Scream 7 adds to its star-studded cast by adding one of the most recognizable faces on the daytime talk show circuit. The anticipated slasher sequel sees award-winning host Mark Consuelos become the latest name to join the project.

According to Deadline, Live with Kelly & Mark co-host Mark Consuelos, also known for Riverdale, has joined the Scream 7 cast in an undisclosed role. Consuelos won his first Emmy Award last year for his work on Live with Kelly & Mark alongside his wife and talk show veteran, Kelly Ripa.

Related I'm Disappointed With How Scream 7 Somehow Fumbled Patrick Dempsey

Scream 7 just announced the casting of a major star in an important new role--however, it undermines something set up in a previous film.

While Consuelos has garnered more recent acclaim for his talk show exploits, the Spaniard has enjoyed a 30-year acting career dating back to his award-winning run on the popular soap opera,...

‘DinoGator’ Review
Image
Stars: Michael Madsen, Bryan Clark, Paul Logan, Aaron Groben, Grace West, Lauren Parkinson, Savannah Goldstein, Jesse Bernstein, G.J. Echterkamp | Written by Blake Miller | Directed by Jim Wynorski

DinoGator is one of those movies I never thought I’d actually get to see, at least not this side of a bootleg copy. Originally shot in 2016 under the more accurate title CobraGator, it came close to release in 2018, only to disappear into the murky depths of the swamp of lost films. Not even the involvement of the legendary Roger Corman, who served as executive producer, could convince distributors to lure it out, until now. So, was it worth the wait? Well, that really depends on how much you enjoy the taste of cheese.

The story kicks off with a trio of doomed characters venturing into a cave. One of them plays a recorder like a snake charmer’s flute. But instead of charming any creatures,...

‘Homicide: Life on the Streets’ Launched David Simon’s Career and Changed TV History. Next Month, You Can Finally Stream It
Image
Before David Simon debuted his groundbreaking socio-political tapestry “The Wire” to audiences and helped garner the prestige HBO now only reserves for “Game of Thrones” and superhero spinoffs, he wrote the book on the world of crime and law enforcement in Baltimore. Published in 1991, his non-fiction book “Homicide: A Year of Killing Streets” pools two years of research from Simon’s time spent observing the Baltimore Police Department, which itself followed four years spent on the police beat for The Baltimore Sun newspaper.

Wishing to adapt the book into a feature film, Simon got a copy to filmmaker and Baltimore native Barry Levinson, who felt the material was better suited to a TV series. Levinson shared with Paul Attansio, a former Washington Post film critic whose would go on to write the Oscar-nominated “Quiz Show,” as well as “Donnie Brasco,” and together the team brought the project to NBC, where...

Amazon’s ‘A League of Their Own’ to End With Four-Episode Second Season (Exclusive)
Image
Amazon’s queer take on Penny Marshall’s beloved A League of Their Own will get one last at-bat.

The retail giant/streamer, following months of negotiations, has handed out a second and final season renewal for the series from showrunners Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson. The Sony Pictures Television-produced show will conclude with a four-episode final season. The news follows months of renegotiations with Sony to lower the show’s licensing fee, and the cast had to sign new deals, given the order is for half the episodes that were featured in season one, sources say.

Reps for Amazon and Sony declined to comment as deals have not yet been completed for what sources say will be billed as a “limited series.”

In the works since early 2018, Graham (Amazon’s recently launched Daisy Jones & The Six) recruited Jacobson (Broad City) for the more modern take on Marshall’s...

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy “Very Optimistic About What’s Possible” In Entertainment
Image
Following its MGM purchase, Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy anticipates a continued ramp-up of investment in entertainment as Prime Video content proves highly successful in spurring signups of Amazon Prime.

The biggest investment so far is its recently closed 8.45 billion acquisition of the studio behind James Bond and Rocky. “I think it’s still pretty early days for us in entertainment. We’ve invested a lot of money there and a lot of resources there, and I think you should expect we will continue to do so. We are very optimistic about what’s possible,” Jassy said on CNBC.

He was circumspect when asked about today’s business bombshell, Elon Musk’s hostile bid for Twitter. “I don’t know. I woke up and heard the news. It’s interesting. We all use Twitter obviously to some degree. It will be interesting to see how it evolves.” Asked if Amazon...

Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, Morgan Spector, Carrie Coon, and Denée Benton in The Gilded Age (2022)
The long-gestating drama “The Gilded Age,” which hails from “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes, has announced four members of its main cast.

Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Amanda Peet, and Morgan Spector have all been cast as series regulars in the drama project.

The series is set in the titular period of American history, beginning in 1882. It centers on young Marian Brook, the orphaned daughter of a Southern general, who moves into the home of her rigidly conventional aunts in New York City. Accompanied by the mysterious Peggy Scott, an African-American woman masquerading as her maid, Marian gets caught up in the dazzling lives of her stupendously rich neighbors, led by a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife struggling for acceptance by the Astor and Vanderbilt set.

“The Gilded Age” had previously been ordered to series at NBC before moving to HBO in May with a 10-episode production commitment.

Because the series “has already been established to some degree in terms of the look and its direction,” the veteran designer was excited to bring her own intepretation “while keeping the visual continuity of the show” intact. Watch our exclusive video interview with Rhee above.

Season four, which aired last summer and fall, found the AMC prequel series edging closer and closer to where the story intersects with “Breaking Bad”; down-on-his-luck lawyer Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) is just a few steps away from morphing into Saul Goodman, lawyer for the criminal underworld. “The challenge for me was to keep track of what had already been said and shown and make sure you didn’t disrupt that timeline,...

Apple Sits Out This Emmy Season, but Get Ready for a Frenzy of Contenders in 2020
Apple won’t be entering the Emmy race this year — but get ready for 2020. The tech giant’s not-so-surprise launch of its new Apple TV+ video service on Monday included a hefty roster of top producing and acting talent that will immediately make the service an awards contender when it launches in the fall.

That means Apple’s first major awards at-bats will be the Golden Globes and various guild kudos (such as the SAG and WGA awards). Those events will serve as a warm-up for Apple’s inaugural Emmy campaign season next spring.

It won’t be Apple’s first time in contention, however. Apple Music’s “Carpool Karaoke” won the Emmy last year for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and the show is back in the race again this year. And the company has also won several technical/engineering Emmys over the years,...

50. “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”

Chicago Med Season 3 Episode 13 Review: Best Laid Plans
I'm starting to think that Gaffney's Ed might not be my first choice for treatment.

Between all the misdiagnoses, surgeons manipulating Unos, and doctors calling cops on the families of patients, the events on Chicago Med Season 3 Episode 13 were a PR nightmare waiting to break.

On the upside, Nat finally broke free of the babies and the pregnant women! It's a miracle!

Landing an adult patient didn't free her from ethical issues or fighting with her boyfriend. The honeymoon period is definitely over for those two.

Nat's certainly not always in the right when she comes up against these ethical challenges, but she's at least usually more deliberative than Will.

I'm definitely team Nat for this case. At the very least, Will could have waited to call the police after giving social services or, I don't know, Dr. Charles a chance to weigh in.

It was a little bit of...

Nick Nolte in Graves (2016)
‘Graves’ Review: Nick Nolte Tries to Save the Republican Party in a Political Comedy with Presidential Potential
Nick Nolte in Graves (2016)
Whether you’re with her or want to make America great again, “Graves” is the timely political comedy you didn’t know you needed to see. For one, it’s on Epix, a network new to the scripted original series game, meaning you might not know where to find it. But more to the point, the series’ basic premise might make you suspect the show has a liberal agenda hiding behind faux-conservatism; a show made to lure in Republican voters only to convince them they’re wrong.

Read More: ‘Berlin Station’ Review: Spy Drama Needs Less Talk, More Richard Jenkins Gettin’ Busy

But that’s not the case — so far. While “Graves” may not be the barnburner debut series of, say, a “House of Cards,” it’s a big step up from Amazon’s “Alpha House.” Plus, through three episodes, the well-performed, warmly funny tale is also fair to both sides of the aisle.

Fall TV Preview: The 17 Most Anticipated Comedies of 2016
Care (2013)
“Mary + Jane”

September 5 on MTV

What Is It? From the writer/directors behind the cult favorite “Josie and the Pussycats” adaptation, this series follows two “ganjapeneurs” who run a weed delivery service in Los Angeles.

I’ll Like It If I Like… The “Broad City” influence is pretty clear, as the show is focused on the tight friendship between Jordan (Scout Durwood) and Paige (Jessica Rothe) and their stoner antics.

Why Should I Care? Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont’s unique approach to satirizing La hipster culture really help this show stand out from the pack of other female-led comedies, while also promising a more surreal touch. Durwood and Rothe also make for an enjoyable pairing. For fans of the pot comedy genre, it’s an easy sell.

September 6 on FX

What is it? Donald Glover of “Community” fame returns to TV in his most ambitious project yet, which he produces,...

Amazon Boss Says He’s Investing in More Programming, But There’s a Limit
Woody Allen at an event for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Amazon Studios is on a TV spending spree – but there’s a ceiling.

The company doubled its series production budget in the second half of 2015 vs. the previous year, just as Amazon Prime subscribers were up 47% in the U.S. year-to-year.

“It’s on an upward trajectory,” said Amazon Studios boss Roy Price, who touted the service’s new and returning series to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday. Upcoming new entries include David E. Kelley’s “Goliath,” starring Billy Bob Thornton, and Woody Allen’s “Crisis in Six Scenes.”

The elusive Price was extremely light on details, frustrating reporters with a lack of specifics on the state of Amazon’s TV affairs.
