Trivia
There are two inconsistencies between this film and its predecessor, Le Petit Nicolas (2009)

1. Nicolas' father smokes a pipe in this film, but was a non-smoker in the other.

2. There is no mention of Nicolas' sister, born at the end of the previous film.

Goofs
The sandcastles built by the architect are built using sand other than beach sand. This can be seen by the difference in the colour of the sandcastles and the surrounding beach sand, even allowing for the addition of water.

Crazy credits
Credits at the start and finish of the film appear on holiday postcards. The credits at the beginning also include some animations on the cards.

A vacation worth taking.

Charming comedy from France about a boy's holiday with his parents, set a few decades ago.

Despite the flawed subtitles on Amazon that kept displaying 1 as 'I', I enjoyed almost every second of this kid's misadventures with his motley crew of friends. It has all the elements of traditional farce, with some misunderstandings and classic slapstick thrown in too.

All the cast are great, and the director really captures what it must've been like in vacationing in a traditional seaside France town during the mid-20th century. Funny and entertaining for almost it's entire run length, this gets an easy 7/10 from me.
