In the early 2000s, Stephen Johnston penned a series of indie horror movies chronicling the true crimes of serial killers, including Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, The Hillside Strangler, and Starkweather.
Johnston returns to familiar territory with Ed Kemper, which he co-wrote with director Chad Ferrin.
The film tells the chilling true story of Edmund Kemper, a manipulative serial killer known as The Co-Ed Killer whose charm hid a dark obsession with murder, revenge, and his tormented past.
Brandon Kirk stars as Kemper, who murdered his grandparents at age 15 and, after being paroled for the crime, killed eight women — including his mother — between 1972 and 1973.
Susan Priver, Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), and Cassandra Gava (Conan the Barbarian) round out the cast.
Ed Kemper will be released on Digital and VOD on April 8 from Dread.

Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep closes out the trilogy writer/director Chad Ferrin began with The Deep Ones and continued in H. P. Lovecraft’s The Old Ones. This time out Ambrose London, a world famous expert on dreams, is summoned to Arkham Asylum (no not where The Joker is kept between Batman films), to study the case of James Fhelleps/Joe Slater.
The story begins in 1998 when Jim Fhellepsis admitted to prison for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. His cellmate Sturgis attempts to force him to give him a Bj. As horrific as that sounds it gets worse when what pops out of his pants looks more like a pissed-off lamprey with a mouth full of teeth. He promptly...

Terminator 2: Judgment Day introduced the world to Edward Furlong as John Connor, a rebellious teenager destined to shape humanity’s fight against the dominant force of AI malevolence that was Skynet. Having made a brief return to the role of Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate, Furlong’s new movie is something even more unsettling than a world at war with intelligent machines, and it is coming to VOD services very soon.
Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep is a "cosmic horror movie" inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s short story. Ambrose London is a renowned oneirologist who handles the toughest cases. They don’t come tougher than this latest one…he’s been summoned to an asylum to check out a seemingly possessed patient. Of course in movies in this “seemingly” means “definitely,” but not in the manner one would think.
The assumption is that the spirit is that of a 122-year-old colonial peasant. London has a special instrument he calls the “Dream Machine” that can extract these spirits from their host bodies. But it turns out it’s not a ghost at all….it’s an alien life form bent on destroying the world,...
