Exclusive: Academy Award Winner Al Pacino is set to join the upcoming hostage thriller Dead Man’s Wire, to be directed by Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant.

The screenplay was written by Austin Kolodney. He joins previously announced Bill Skarsgard, Dacre Montgomery, Myha’la, Cary Elwes and Colman Domingo — all of whom Deadline first told you about.

Here’s the blurb for Dead Man’s Wire: The morning of February 8, 1977, Anthony G. “Tony” Kiritsis, 44, entered the office of Richard O. Hall, president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, and took him hostage with a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun wired with a “dead man’s wire” from the trigger to Tony’s own neck. The cast of Al Pacino's Assassination has expanded with three star-studded additions. As per Deadline, Academy Award winners Jessica Chastain and Brendan Fraser, along with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston have joined Pacino in Assassination. The story revolves around Dorothy Kilgallen, played by Chastain, the first female crime reporter in America who investigated Jack Ruby after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and died under mysterious circumstances.

Exclusive: Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan has added Sibongile Mlambo (Lost in Space) and Paul Ben-Victor (The Wire) to its Season 4 cast in recurring roles.

Mlambo will play Imani Okoye, a smart, confident and business-savvy executive at a boutique record label. Ben-Victor will play Phil Russo, Jersey’s new crime boss accustomed to garnering respect, deference and other men’s fear. He suffers no fools and handles business negotiations with stoic confidence.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan explores the early life of everyone’s favorite villain Kanan Stark, originally played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the flagship series, and shows his evolution from näive teenager to cutthroat villain. Season 3 saw an epic showdown between Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and his mother Raq (Patina Miller), resulting in a couple of surprise deaths and the return of a fan-favorite character. Based on true events, the film is set in 1960 and ‘begins when Fidel Castro travels to New York City to deliver his first speech to the United Nations after having won the Cuban revolution. Killing Castro, an upcoming movie based on true events surrounding the aftermath of the Cuban revolution, has assembled an impressive cast ahead of production. According to According to Deadline, Titus Welliver, the star of the Bosch television series, will be a part of the cast that also includes Al Pacino, Diego Boneta, KiKi Layne, Nicole Beharie, Logan Marshall-Green, Xolo Maridueña, Alexander Ludwig, Ron Livingston, and Kendrick Sampson. The thriller, which will also mark Eif Rivera's directorial debut, will document a tense moment in the history of Cuba.

Exclusive: Al Pacino, Diego Boneta, Xolo Maridueña, KiKi Layne, Alexander Ludwig, Ron Livingston, Kendrick Sampson, Nicole Beharie, Logan Marshall Green and Titus Welliver will star in Killing Castro.
