With most theaters closed, Neon will launch the documentary “Spaceship Earth” on an innovative patchwork of drive-in theaters, pop-up projections and on demand.
The indie studio will roll out the film on May 8, at a time when the bulk of cinemas are expected to remain shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film will be immediately available on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon and Hulu. But Neon isn’t giving up entirely on the big-screen experience. It plans to create at least two city-scape projections of the film, which is says will adhere to quarantine and social-distance guidelines.
“I can’t tell you what that’s going to look like, but we want to make this accessible to people by placing the film in the real world during a time when it can’t play in most theaters,” said Neon founder and CEO Tom Quinn. “We feel like...

Big Beach, the production company behind Oscar contenders The Farewell and A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, has tapped Susanna Fogel to direct Winner, a biopic about former American intelligence specialist Reality Leigh Winner.
Winner was the first to expose Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. She was arrested in 2017 for removing confidential documents from the government and feeding them to the press in 2018; Winner was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.
Kerry Howley, who wrote the 2017 New York Magazine article Who is Reality Winner?, adapted the screenplay. Dani Melia and Peter Saraf of Big Beach will produce alongside Amanda Phillips, who brought the project to them.
Fogel, repped by UTA and Lighthouse Management, most recently penned the script for the critically acclaimed comedy Booksmart, which was directed by Olivia Wilde. She also co-wrote and directed The Spy Who Dumped Me, starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon,...

A star was reborn on Sunday night, when Barbra Streisand reunited with her A Star Is Born costar Kris Kristofferson.
The legendary singer, 77, shared the stage with Kristofferson at London’s Hyde Park, the two duetting once again on the song “Lost Inside of You” — one of the many love ballads from their acclaimed 1976 film.
It was a reunion Streisand had first teased back in April, when she posted a photo with Kristofferson to social media along with the caption, “Stay tuned.”
After taking the stage, Streisand called Kristofferson, “one of my favorite leading men,” according to a YouTube video of the number.

Barbra Streisand went deep, not shallow, in her song choices for a massive show Sunday night at London’s Hyde Park. As expected, or at least hoped for, the presence of Kris Kristofferson as an opening act on the bill did result in a “Star is Born” flashback, as the duo revived “Lost Inside of You,” a number from the 1976 movie that some fans insist should be an evergreen, too.
Following the obligatory rendition of “Evergreen” — the other song she co-wrote for the film in question — Streisand brought to the stage “one of my favorite leading men… Here’s a song that we sang together in the movie, right? I love this song,” she declared.
Although the song is unremittingly hopeful in its romanticism, there was added bittersweetness now as it began with the line, “Time has come again…” Streisand’s co-writer on the tune, Leon Russell, is no longer around.

It looks like Bad Boys 3 is finally, really happening this time. We hope. This project has been stuck in development hell for a long time now and there have been more than a few false starts along the way. But Martin Lawrence, one of the most crucial elements of making this movie happen, has just provided a very encouraging update, confirming his return. That was later made official when Will Smith posted a crazy video officially announcing the sequel is finally happening on social media.
Development on Bad Boys 3, which is officially titled Bad Boys for Life, has really been going on since 2013 when writer David Guggenheim (Safe House) was brought on board. Since then, it's been a revolving door of writers and possible directors. But have things finally smoothed out? Taking to his Instagram account, Martin Lawrence provided a very brief, but firm update on the status of the project.

After languishing in development for years, Sony's Bad Boys 3 finally started moving forward in the right direction, when filmmaker Joe Carnahan came aboard to write and direct. We haven't heard too much about the project yet, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealing in April that they have yet to get a script in from the writer-director, although later that month, the movie was also featured as part of a sizzle reel shown to exhibitors at CinemaCon. Today we have word that the sequel has a new title, Bad Boys for Life, while the movie has been pushed by six months into 2018.

Finding Neverland found its J.M. Barrie in Glee's Matthew Morrison, and now it has added another notable name. Fraiser's Kelsey Grammer will play Charles Frohman, the producer played by Dustin Hoffman in the 2004 film. Grammer last appeared on Broadway in the 2010 revival of La Cage Aux Folles. "I couldn't be more thrilled that Kelsey is joining our cast as Charles Frohman, J.M Barrie's producer," Finding Neverland's producer Harvey Weinstein said in a statement. "He might be the best theater producer on Broadway this season! I was an investor in La Cage when Kelsey did it and he...

Django Unchained's Daniele Watts and her boyfriend Brian Lucas have been charged with lewd conduct after allegedly having sex in the front seat of a car on a public street, The New York Daily News reports. As Us Weekly previously reported, the Partners star was handcuffed and briefly accused of indecent exposure along with Lucas on Thursday, Sept. 11, after police were called to a road in Studio City, Los Angeles, by a witness claiming they were having sex in public. No charges were brought at that time, [...]...

FX Networks and Productions CEO John Landgraf told an investor conference Wednesday that "we have really now achieved a scale that allows us to truly compete with Netflix and HBO," predicting further ratings and financial upside for his group that is part of Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox. Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, he also said the company will likely stop acquiring shows under so-called 10/90 deals, such as Anger Management with Charlie Sheen, George Lopez's Saint George and Partners with Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence. When Martin Lawrence heard of Kelsey Grammer's desire to join him on the new FX sitcom Partners, the actor's first thought was, "How can we make this comedy work?" But comedic success has never been tough to figure out for either actor, both of whom made their marks on classic sitcoms. Before breaking out on the big screen in such hits as Big Momma's House, Lawrence spent five seasons playing smart-mouthed DJ Martin Payne on his eponymous Fox sitcom in the '90s, while...

In the past, Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence have both had successful sitcoms that ran for many years. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the duo's new FX sitcom, Partners, has much of a future. It's very likely to be cancelled.
On Partners, a snobby lawyer (Grammer) and an overly ethics-driven lawyer (Lawrence) become partners and end up helping each other get their lives in order. The rest of the cast includes McKaley Miller, Telma Hopkins, Danièle Watts, Rory O’Malley, and Edi Patterson.
As you may recall, FX made a 10/90 deal for Partners with Lionsgate TV and Debmar-Mercury. If the sitcom's first 10 episodes reached a certain ratings threshold then the cable channel was obligated to order 90 episodes for season two -- assuring the studios would have enough episodes for a (potentially very lucrative) syndication package.

Calling all Bad Boys fans, your wishes for another sequel are coming true. Martin Lawrence says Bad Boys 3 is on! The actor, currently doing press for his new series Partners, was on the Conan O’Brien Show and had the following to say when the host brought up rumors that a third film was in the works. “I believe so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer... yesterday and he said it’s real. They’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good." This seems to support the quote that came from Bruckheimer himself back in April. “It’s so funny because we’ll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies. During an appearance on Conan O'Brien's talk show last night to promote his new FX sitcom "Partners,"comedian Martin Lawrence has confirmed reports that a third "Bad Boys" is moving forward.
Asked about the project by O'Brien, Lawrence responded: "I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close and it all looks good."
David Guggenheim was hired to pen the script back in December with the studio hoping to bring back Lawrence and Smith. Bruckheimer in April said it was all a matter of scheduling more than anything.

I don't believe this for a second.
1) This is something being developed because Michael Bay is super profitable right now, so all past Michael Bay projects are getting dusted off.
2) Will Smith stopped making good movies in 2008
3) Movies announced on Late Night are spin, movies get announced through contracts and press releases. This is just Martin Lawrence pimping himself...again.
But let's pretend for a moment that Martin Lawrence - a man who may refuse to walk on grass or dirt - is telling us the truth or at least what he considers the truth. On Conan O'Brian's show last night, Lawrence said Bad Boys 3 is happening.
Here's his appearance on Conan to promote his show Partners:

We've been hearing talk of a Bad Boys 3 movie since 2009. The last bit of information that we heard was in 2013 when Sony Pictures was looking to hire Safe House writer David Guggenheim to take a crack at the script.
Martin Lawrence was a guest on Conan last night to promote his new FX series Partners, which co-stars Kelsey Grammer. While there, Conan O'Brien asked him about a third Bad Boys, and if it was actually a possibility, to which Lawrence replied:
"I believe so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer... yesterday and he said its real. They’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good."
The real question remains though… is Will Smith or Michael Bay up for returning? Because without those two elements it's not really going to be a Bad Boys movie. I enjoyed watching the first two films, and...

Bad Boys 3 is one of those longtime-coming threequels that it’s almost hard to believe in anymore. (Seriously, we have articles about it stretching back to five years ago.) However, as of today it appears that recent talk from producers like Jerry Bruckheimer wasn’t just smoke; as you can see in the latter half of the above video, even franchise star Martin Lawrence confirms that the film is in the works.
Here’s the exact quote from Lawrence regarding Bad Boy 3; the actor was stopping by Conan to promote his new TV series with Kelsey Grammar, Partners:
Ml: I belive so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday. He said it’s real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close – and it all looks good.

Comedian Martin Lawrence has confirmed that Bad Boys 3 is very close to getting a green light. He appeared on last night's Conan promoting his new FX sitcom Partners. Host Conan O'Brien brought up the subject, saying he'd heard a rumor that a sequel was in the works.
Martin Lawrence responded:
"I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close and it all looks good."
The actor also pubicily brought up the sequel on Facebook back in July. Here is what he said:
"11 years ago today, Bad Boys II was released in theaters. Feelin' it's about time for number 3... what do you think Will Smith?"
In December of last year, we reported that David Guggenheim was hired to write the script with the studio hoping to bring back stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. Producer...

Last night on "Conan," after doing an odd "make it rain" gesture while blowing kisses to the audience, awkwardly mentioning that time he fell into a coma and trying to look excited about the fact that he was on the show to promote his horrible-looking FX series "Partners," Martin Lawrence did talk about something of note -- the possibility of a "Bad Boys III."
When O'Brien brought up the third film in the "Bad Boys" saga (I like to call it a "saga"), Lawrence seemed genuinely optimistic. "I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script. They're getting close to this, and it all looks good."
Well, it's good that Lawrence is so positive, because the logistical impossibilities of a "Bad Boys III" do a lot to dampen our spirits. First there's the fact that the salaries demanded by Lawrence and his costar,...

On the day of August 13th, 2014, Sir Martin Lawrence appeared on the Conan television talk show. His intentions were to promote discussion and celebration of his new FX series Partners. Mr. Lawrence was plenty excited about the team-up with Kelsey Grammer. But he was, perhaps, more excited about a new project. A project that will reshape the cinematic world as we know it. Though the show has only just aired, we have heard that Martin Lawrence has announced another collaboration with Michael Bay. Once again, the actor will be playing Detective Marcus Burnett. Shit just got real: there's going to be a Bad Boys 3. Lawrence says that he has been talking with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and that a screenplay for Bad Boys 3 is being actively developed. The script would "potentially re-team him" with co-star Will Smith. But, really, how can you have Marcus without Mike Lowry? And going...

FX is trying another 10/90 deal with the Partners TV show. If the ratings for the first season of 10 episodes hit a certain ratings threshold, the cable channel has committed to ordering a 90-episode second season. Anger Management had a similar deal and was renewed. Saint George did too but it was cancelled. How will Partners perform? Stay tuned.
On Partners, a snobby lawyer (Kelsey Grammer) and an overly ethics-driven lawyer (Martin Lawrence) become partners and end up helping each other get their lives in order. The rest of the cast includes McKaley Miller, Telma Hopkins, Danièle Watts, Rory O’Malley, and Edi Patterson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Partners Review
FX is rolling the dice with a new sit-com that pulls Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer out of the past, and puts them in a new show that seems tailored to wedge into TV Land‘s schedule. Not that this describes a bad show on its own, but it doesn’t exactly feel like something that the network’s fans are clearly going to flock to. On the other hand, if FX is hoping to broaden its horizons, I hope it works out for them.
The show follows two attorneys, Allen Braddock (Grammer) and Marcus Jackson (Lawrence), as they find themselves thrown together by circumstance, and become partners. Braddock worked in his father’s prestigious law firm, but has managed to create such a horrible reputation for himself, that even his father fired him. Jackson is quite the opposite. The latest 10/90 comedy project has launched, and it proves what star power can do. With comedy veterans Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence in the lead roles, “Partners” already brings more consistent laughs then FX's other 10/90 project, Charlie Sheen‘s “Anger Management.” Unfortunately for Sheen, he's forced to do the lion's share of the work alone on his show, while “Partners” is able to play off the differences and chemistry of its lead characters. FX's latest comedy attempt premieres tonight. Partners stars Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence as odd-couple lawyers, and the show itself leaves a bit to be desired. But more important, it brings two ’90s-era icons back, and thus it raises the question: How long is long enough, and how long is too long, between roles of the past and roles of today? We present a very unscientific look at some of the actors and actresses on current shows and how soon these shows came after iconic (or at least widely seen) roles on other shows — plus what lessons future stars can glean from these leaps.Courteney Cox: five years between Friends and Cougar TownMatt LeBlanc: seven years between Friends and EpisodesThat's the tough transition, to go from a popular ensemble series to a leading role in the same genre, and it took both former Friends a few tries to get it right.

This was a "Tbd" panel on FX's TCA schedule and, given the opinions, my guesses were down to either a "Partners" panel with Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence or a "Fargo" renewal panel. Since "Partners" premieres early next month and Grammer and possibly Lawrence (I didn't see him, so I don't know) were at last night's Fox/FX party, that wouldn't have seemed to require "Tbd" mystery. And, indeed, FX began the morning by announcing a "Fargo" renewal and John Landgraf demurred on several questions about Season 2 specifics, saying that Noah Hawley and Warren Littlefield would have more details later.
