Mary Pat Gleason, a prolific character actress with more than 100 TV and film credits, including CBS’ sitcom Mom and A Cinderella Story, died of cancer June 2, according to a post on her Facebook page. She was 70.

Born in Lake City, Mn, Gleason began her decades-long career in 1982 with a role in NBC soap opera Texas. She went on to star as Jane Hogan in daytime drama The Guiding Light, and won a daytime Emmy as part of the writing team on the show, which ran for 72 seasons on CBS.

Since then she has appeared on dozens of television series including Full House, Dear John, Murphy Brown, Empty Nest, L.A. Exclusive: Trailblazing rapper Mc Lyte is collaborating with Bentley Kyle Evans, executive producer of such popular comedies as Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show, for a new Umc scripted series titled Partners in Rhyme.

The new half-hour sitcom is the latest original production from AMC Networks’ streaming service. Partners in Rhyme follows the life of a female high school rapper, social media star and foster kid who thinks she is the next Cardi B. Mc Lyte will star in the series as a label executive charged with helping the difficult but talented new artist navigate the industry.

In an effort to find a co-star, Umc is teaming with the American Black Film Festival (Abff) for a nationwide “Shoot Your Shot” casting call. Five finalists will perform at Abff later this year. From there, the winner will be chosen and star alongside Mc Lyte in the series.

With most theaters closed, Neon will launch the documentary “Spaceship Earth” on an innovative patchwork of drive-in theaters, pop-up projections and on demand.

The indie studio will roll out the film on May 8, at a time when the bulk of cinemas are expected to remain shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film will be immediately available on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon and Hulu. But Neon isn’t giving up entirely on the big-screen experience. It plans to create at least two city-scape projections of the film, which is says will adhere to quarantine and social-distance guidelines.

In today’s TV news roundup, Apple TV Plus announces Jen Tullock and Zach Cherry have been cast in upcoming series “Severance” and HBO sets a premiere date for “My Brilliant Friend: The Story of a New Name.”

Jen Tullock and Zach Cherry will join Patricia Arquette, Adam Scott and Britt Lower in Apple TV Plus’ new workplace thriller, “Severance.” Tullock will star as Devon, sister of Mark (Scott), while Cherry will portray one of Mark’s employees named Dylan. Written and created by Dan Erickson, the series follows Lumen Industries, a company aiming to take work-life balance to the next level and centers on lead character Mark, an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together. Arquette stars as Mark’s boss at Lumen Industries. Lower plays Helly, a woman who struggles to find peace with the decision she made to do the severance procedure.

Jen Tullock and Zach Cherry are set for lead roles alongside Patricia Arquette, Adam Scott and Britt Lower in Severance, Apple’s new workplace thriller drama directed by and executive produced by Ben Stiller.

Severance takes place at Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level with a “severance procedure,” which separates work and out-of-work memories. Scott stars as Mark, an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together.

Tullock will play Devon, sister of Mark (Scott). Cherry will portray Dylan, one of Mark’s employees.

The series is written and created by Dan Erickson, whose Severance script was the first TV script to make it on to the annual Bloodlist in 2016.

Chris Black exec produces alongside Erickson, Stiller and Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn from Red Hour Productions. Arquette and Scott also serve as producers.

Martin Lawrence spent the Bad Boys for Life premiere surrounded by the good girls of his life.

On Tuesday, the actor, 54, brought along his fiancée Roberta Moradfar, 38, to the Los Angeles event for the third installment in the action franchise, his first major onscreen role since 2011.

A star was reborn on Sunday night, when Barbra Streisand reunited with her A Star Is Born costar Kris Kristofferson.

The legendary singer, 77, shared the stage with Kristofferson at London’s Hyde Park, the two duetting once again on the song “Lost Inside of You” — one of the many love ballads from their acclaimed 1976 film.

It was a reunion Streisand had first teased back in April, when she posted a photo with Kristofferson to social media along with the caption, “Stay tuned.”

After taking the stage, Streisand called Kristofferson, “one of my favorite leading men,” according to a YouTube video of the number.

Barbra Streisand went deep, not shallow, in her song choices for a massive show Sunday night at London’s Hyde Park. As expected, or at least hoped for, the presence of Kris Kristofferson as an opening act on the bill did result in a “Star is Born” flashback, as the duo revived “Lost Inside of You,” a number from the 1976 movie that some fans insist should be an evergreen, too.

Following the obligatory rendition of “Evergreen” — the other song she co-wrote for the film in question — Streisand brought to the stage “one of my favorite leading men… Here’s a song that we sang together in the movie, right? I love this song,” she declared.

Although the song is unremittingly hopeful in its romanticism, there was added bittersweetness now as it began with the line, “Time has come again…” Streisand’s co-writer on the tune, Leon Russell, is no longer around.

Kelly Miller has joined Literate, A.B. Fischer and Dennis Kim’ television-focused boutique management and production company, as a manager. Miller moves to Literate from Paradigm, where she served as a theater-to-tv crossover agent.

Amazon has put in development 2051, an animated workplace comedy from comedian Mo Mandel (Comedy Knockout), Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Written and executive produced by Mandel, who also will voice a lead role, the show is described as an animated workplace comedy set in 2051 — and if you think 2018 is terrible, just wait. Fuchs also executive produces with Greg Walter and Josh Lieberman for 3 Arts.

Mandel created, wrote and executive produced comedy competition series Comedy Knockout, which recently wrapped its third season on TruTV. Executive produced by “Empire” co-creator Danny Strong and written by David Elliott, “Proven Innocent” is a legal drama set in a wrongful conviction firm led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer (Rachelle Lefevre).

After languishing in development for years, Sony's Bad Boys 3 finally started moving forward in the right direction, when filmmaker Joe Carnahan came aboard to write and direct. We haven't heard too much about the project yet, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealing in April that they have yet to get a script in from the writer-director, although later that month, the movie was also featured as part of a sizzle reel shown to exhibitors at CinemaCon. Today we have word that the sequel has a new title, Bad Boys for Life, while the movie has been pushed by six months into 2018.

In the past, Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence have both had successful sitcoms that ran for many years. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the duo's new FX sitcom, Partners, has much of a future. It's very likely to be cancelled.

On Partners, a snobby lawyer (Grammer) and an overly ethics-driven lawyer (Lawrence) become partners and end up helping each other get their lives in order. The rest of the cast includes McKaley Miller, Telma Hopkins, Danièle Watts, Rory O’Malley, and Edi Patterson.

As you may recall, FX made a 10/90 deal for Partners with Lionsgate TV and Debmar-Mercury. If the sitcom's first 10 episodes reached a certain ratings threshold then the cable channel was obligated to order 90 episodes for season two -- assuring the studios would have enough episodes for a (potentially very lucrative) syndication package.

During an appearance on Conan O'Brien's talk show last night to promote his new FX sitcom "Partners,"comedian Martin Lawrence has confirmed reports that a third "Bad Boys" is moving forward.

Asked about the project by O'Brien, Lawrence responded: "I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close and it all looks good."

David Guggenheim was hired to pen the script back in December with the studio hoping to bring back Lawrence and Smith. Bruckheimer in April said it was all a matter of scheduling more than anything.

I don't believe this for a second.

1) This is something being developed because Michael Bay is super profitable right now, so all past Michael Bay projects are getting dusted off.

2) Will Smith stopped making good movies in 2008

3) Movies announced on Late Night are spin, movies get announced through contracts and press releases. This is just Martin Lawrence pimping himself...again.

We've been hearing talk of a Bad Boys 3 movie since 2009. The last bit of information that we heard was in 2013 when Sony Pictures was looking to hire Safe House writer David Guggenheim to take a crack at the script.

Martin Lawrence was a guest on Conan last night to promote his new FX series Partners, which co-stars Kelsey Grammer. While there, Conan O'Brien asked him about a third Bad Boys, and if it was actually a possibility, to which Lawrence replied:

"I believe so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer... yesterday and he said its real. They’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good."

The real question remains though… is Will Smith or Michael Bay up for returning? Because without those two elements it's not really going to be a Bad Boys movie. I enjoyed watching the first two films, and...

Bad Boys 3 is one of those longtime-coming threequels that it’s almost hard to believe in anymore. (Seriously, we have articles about it stretching back to five years ago.) However, as of today it appears that recent talk from producers like Jerry Bruckheimer wasn’t just smoke; as you can see in the latter half of the above video, even franchise star Martin Lawrence confirms that the film is in the works.

Here’s the exact quote from Lawrence regarding Bad Boy 3; the actor was stopping by Conan to promote his new TV series with Kelsey Grammar, Partners:

Ml: I belive so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday. He said it’s real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close – and it all looks good.

Comedian Martin Lawrence has confirmed that Bad Boys 3 is very close to getting a green light. He appeared on last night's Conan promoting his new FX sitcom Partners. Host Conan O'Brien brought up the subject, saying he'd heard a rumor that a sequel was in the works.

Martin Lawrence responded:

"I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close and it all looks good."

The actor also pubicily brought up the sequel on Facebook back in July. Here is what he said:

"11 years ago today, Bad Boys II was released in theaters. Feelin' it's about time for number 3... what do you think Will Smith?"

FX is trying another 10/90 deal with the Partners TV show. If the ratings for the first season of 10 episodes hit a certain ratings threshold, the cable channel has committed to ordering a 90-episode second season. FX is rolling the dice with a new sit-com that pulls Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer out of the past, and puts them in a new show that seems tailored to wedge into TV Land‘s schedule. Not that this describes a bad show on its own, but it doesn’t exactly feel like something that the network’s fans are clearly going to flock to. On the other hand, if FX is hoping to broaden its horizons, I hope it works out for them.

The show follows two attorneys, Allen Braddock (Grammer) and Marcus Jackson (Lawrence), as they find themselves thrown together by circumstance, and become partners. The latest 10/90 comedy project has launched, and it proves what star power can do. This was a "Tbd" panel on FX's TCA schedule and, given the opinions, my guesses were down to either a "Partners" panel with Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence or a "Fargo" renewal panel.
