When people write that they hate this movie and that it's awful, they seem to forget what this movie tries to do. It's a fun kids movie. I just watched all the now four movies with the chipmunks and I liked each one of them. This franchise has unlimited potential, lovely characters and an original idea. Love the cameos by real stars and their remakes of popular songs. This movie has a bit of a weak plot. They didn't really go on a road trip, they visited a bar in Texas and the rest of their stops we only saw through a short montage with them singing to get money for public transport. but in a kids movie, who cares!? I enjoyed it so much! The song that they sing in the end is so great! Cried man tears ;)
Another classic cartoon gets a touch up. Alvin and the Chipmunks are CGI'd but they're the same old trouble makers. This time they are traversing cross country to stop Dave from proposing to his new GF. They get into all kinds of trouble, predictably, and sing their way out of some situations as well. It was cute.
I took my 3 1/2 year old daughter to see this KID movie. (It is made for kids, people, chill out.) She adores the chipmunks and she loved the movie. It was cute with some genuinely funny moments. There was great music and lots of high-jinks. The roadtrip aspect of it was fun. There was some dancing and language that was semi-inappropriate that went right over my daughters head. I was sad that David Cross didn't come back for this sequel. He was the best part (IMO)of the previous installments. The guy replacing him as the 'villain' wasn't nearly as funny. But still, a fun and upbeat kids movie. We will definitely buy it when it comes out.
So here we are, four movies into an Alive an a Chipmunk franchise. I did not think the first movie was that good to make a second, and I thought the third film was so bad that it would mark the end of the franchise, but "Episode IV": the Road Chip has arrived.
This time Alvin, Simon, and Theodore go on a fun adventure all across the southern united states as they attempt to get from LA to Florida in order to stop Dave from purposing to a woman, which will change his life forever, have him leave the Chipmunks behind, and make them stepbrothers with their worse enemy(or so they think in their heads)
I did go into the movie with very low standards of it's capability, but I'll admit, I am impress. The plot was cartoonish and only used to get the momentum going. The Road chip is all about the zingy mischief and mayhem that the chipmunks cause in a sketch by sketch somewhat layout that's intertwine with musical numbers of the Chipmunks ripping off the latest hot song of the time (though I think they due perform one original song, but I'm not hip enough to be sure).
The chipets also make a small appearance in the movie as the new Judges of American Idol, which was hilarious.
It's literally like watching a child trying to entertain you. They can be irritating at first but it's so cute you can't help but to soften your hard adult shell and just be amused at the whole thing.

Another Chipmunks movie. It's about what you would expect, no better or worse. If you hated the others, you'll hate this. If you loved the others, you'll likely love this one, too. I am somewhere in the middle. I haven't loved any of these movies but they don't tick me off like they seem to many other people. It's the kind of movie I'll watch once, maybe laugh a few times, but never want to see again. About the only noteworthy moment from the movie is a rather gross scene where Simon is stuck in a guy's pant leg and proceeds to defecate and urinate. Yeah, we actually see Chipmunk pee and poop. It wasn't a funny scene (unless maybe you're 7 or something). It was more disturbing than anything else. Other than that oddity, it was a par-for-the-course Chipmunk sequel. You'll probably forget all about it a day after watching.

- TriviaAt one point, Justin Long did not show interest in returning to voice Alvin in the fourth installment of the franchise and that he would be replaced by Matthew Lillard. However, Lillard was unavailable because he was busy working on Scooby-Doo projects and after giving it a second thought, Long returned to voice Alvin once again for this film.
- GoofsAdditional screening is always done by a TSA officer of the same gender.
- Crazy creditsThere is a scene where Air Marshall Suggs is asked to leave the pool. When refusing, he's taken out by hotel security.
- Alternate versionsThe UK release was cut, the distributor chose to remove a single use of mild bad language ('crap') in order to obtain a U classification. An uncut PG classification was available.
