I recently subscribed to hulu and heard about this on radio. I thought it was a cooking show though!
I was pleasantly surprised. It was such an unusual series for me. I had no knowledge of spicy Peppers and had no idea it was such a 'thing'!
I ended up feeling like I wanted to get to know the characters who had me and my teenager son glued to the screen.
I actually wanna grow some Peppers this year and if I ever get a chance I'm thinking about trying a contest hehe
I recommend this as easy, fun viewing that feels oddly familiar and comforting even if you are not a 'Pepper Person'. There are no spoilers here, but you MUST watch the boxing match part!

As a big Chilli head, and competitor, I couldn't help but smile while watching this series.
The people involved in this show have made such a big impact on my life it's unreal. Shahina, Paul, Johnny, Goot, and all of the amazing people in the background are my family now.
This show finally gives a look into some of our lives, and a little idea of why we do what we do.
From planting the seeds, to the picking of the rip pods, to the cooking/experimenting with those pods, to the competitions and aftermath of those competitions.
It all mushes together to make something incredible.
Being a competitor then seeing this play out on TV is just incredible! I hope there is more seasons to follow, because this 10 episode series was just the top of the iceberg!
Love you all, The Scoville Unit
PS I don't regret cramping on a bathroom floor for 2.5 hrs, or showing my butt crack 🤣.

Okay, here's my take on this:
(For what it's worth, a close friend of mine is a competitive eater in the spice world, and I have mistakenly tried to keep up with hot challenges on more than one occasion, so maybe this speaks more to me than the average viewer.)
As far as personalities, I think they chose the perfect people to represent this subculture! This is such a fun watch.
From a knowledge standpoint, I feel like I did learn a LOT about the pepper community from this, and it never felt like a lecture. I had briefly experienced this culture, but only tangentially. I love the opportunity presented here and I can only hope for more as this series continues.
I'll take an extra bite from my Carolina Reaper jerky and look forward to a follow up series! Cheers.

This show is amazing & gives such great light to the spicy community! A community that I am not in myself as I don't eat anything spicier than buffalo chicken dip! But I have a brother & his friends he made along the way of doing spicy challenges in this series that do. It really gives information that most people do not know, some I didn't know myself until I watched.
The pain is real. The information is real. The people are real! Nothing in the series was fabricated or fake like most series are. I was blessed to witness first hand a few of these crazy, amazing people eat peppers & spicy items in person without the cameras. It's the same on camera & off camera. It's a crazy sight to see but at the end of the day they love to entertain & some love to just be spicy! Great series I hope there is more coming!

I had never heard of the superhot pepper community, before watching this series. I found the series very interesting, and what a cast of characters! You got your choice of the down South Louisiana pepper grower, Troy Primeaux ( of the 7 pot primo pepper fame), your UK/Brit lady Waheen "the Queen" of superhot pepper eating competitions, she's won about 100...despite not even liking peppers. Then, there's the sweet newbie Aurea the Chilipino sweetie in Chicago, and the paranoid pepper grower Jimmy Pickles who is so paranoid of people stilling his pepper seeds, he guards all his peppers like a prison guard.
I could keep going on this show, but you need to watch it yourself to see the ongoing pepper saga.
