I enjoyed watching Sidero&Chaliva at the premier in Essen. Absolutely stunning visuals for a short movie.
Papadopoulos did a great job to present a authentic look of the 70's Ruhr area in Germany. Great scenes,
heartwarming topic and an absolute underrated cast.
Well written , but the topic itself could be to niche for a lot of people but give this thing a chance !
Alexandros Nikolaidis plays the traumatized Gastarbeiter ( incredible ) Antonis, who has to work a whole shift with Co worker Rainer played by Moritz Zeiske .The performance as an alcohol driven absolutely clumsy type of guy gave me laughs and is authentic and funny. You see the chemistry between Adonis and Rainer is growing from hour to hour during the shift. The whole cast is great and I would love to see Der Gast Sidero&Chaliva as a long feature film because you want to know what the next thing is after they mess up work. All people did a great job like setpieces , camerawork and the original wardrobe.
All in all a great underlooked short movie with great potential and a very unique insight of the Gastarbeiter in Germany. 8/10. Papadopoulos need to make a feature film out of this.
