Song of the South was acted with average good level (for me). Anyways, a Bravo for An. There are many funny, plein and somehow rude talks, which are true for countryside residents in old times
Especially, the film color was really true and either do costumes. Scenes of Western markets emphasized the poverty back in the day clearly
The beauty of Western Vietnam and the childhood of kids growing up there were described naturally. There were also various profound lines about family and patriotism
However, its flow is not coherent enough. Therefore, I feel like I was only impressed just by some lines or stunning sets. Moreover, the adventurous life of An was somehow limitedly expressed.

I just finished watching Dat Rung Phuong Nam or Song of the South from Netflix. Wow! What an Incredible movie and I'm so glad I found it just casually browsing Netflix. Very compelling story and plot! Excellent acting from all the actors and actresses, young and old. The main child actor An is excellent and so is Anh Ut! He's so cute and funny. You'll experiencing the culture, tradition and see the beautiful countryside of Vietnam! This movie has it all from family, love, humor, friendship, war, patriotism! I laughed and I cried. Love it so much! I can't wait to watch Part 2! Highly recommend it, you'll enjoy it!
In spite of having to read subtitles I loved it. I usually exit as soon as i see I'm going to have to read the script but, the characters and the story hooked me in and i cared about them. Worth the reading! I couldn't stop watching. It was a combination of suspense, amazing love and bravery, and determination. The acting was superb. The boy, An, will win your heart, as well as the people who helped him along his perilous journey. There is happiness and success. You will rejoice at times and have tears at others. I would watch more shows like this, in spite of the reading of subtitles which i don't like.
