Vaazha captures a deep sense of connection with the story and the characters. It sounds like the film resonated with me on a personal level, reflecting the journey and struggles of many young Indian boys, which made it all the more relatable. The bond between the five main characters seems to have been portrayed authentically, keeping us invested throughout the film.
Even though the ending wasn't a traditionally "happy" one, lets just appreciate the emotional closure and the fact that the friendship endured, which added to the movie's charm. The performances of the actors were evidently impressive, as they brought their characters to life, making the emotional highs and lows feel genuine. The background score also seems to have enhanced the overall experience without overpowering the narrative.
Giving it an 8 out of 10 shows that I found Vaazha both engaging and satisfying, despite its bittersweet conclusion.

The Malayalam film industry has consistently produced films that strike a balance between entertainment and substance, and this latest offering is no exception. This movie, with its perfect blend of comedy and emotion, not only keeps the audience thoroughly entertained but also leaves them with a meaningful message to ponder.
From the very beginning, the film grabs the audience's attention with its light-hearted and witty humour. The first half is packed with laugh-out-loud moments that are delivered effortlessly by the talented cast. The screenplay is sharp, and the dialogues are cleverly written, making every scene enjoyable. The comedy is not forced, but rather, it flows naturally from the situations and the characters, which is a testament to the strong writing and direction.
The first half of the movie introduces us to a set of characters who are not only relatable but also endearing. Each character is well-defined, and the chemistry among them is palpable. The director has done a commendable job of balancing the ensemble cast, giving each actor their moment to shine without overshadowing others. The interactions between the characters are genuine, and the humour arises from their unique personalities and the circumstances they find themselves in.
As the film progresses into the second half, the tone shifts subtly from comedy to emotion. This transition is handled with great finesse, ensuring that the change in mood does not feel abrupt. The second half delves deeper into the characters' lives, revealing their vulnerabilities and struggles. It is here that the movie's emotional core comes to the fore, offering the audience a glimpse into the more serious themes that the film seeks to address.
The emotional arc of the story is where the film truly shines. The director has skillfully woven in themes of love, loss, and redemption, without ever becoming preachy or melodramatic. The film's message is clear and resonant, yet it is delivered with a subtlety that respects the intelligence of the audience. The characters' journeys are portrayed with sincerity, and by the time the film reaches its climax, the audience is deeply invested in their outcomes.
One of the most impressive aspects of this film is its pacing. There is no unnecessary dragging or filler; every scene serves a purpose, either advancing the plot or developing the characters. The narrative is tight, and the transitions between scenes are smooth, making the entire viewing experience engaging from start to finish. Even in the more emotional segments, the film never loses its grip on the audience's attention.
The performances in the film are nothing short of exceptional. The actors, both established and new, deliver performances that are nuanced and compelling. The lead actors, in particular, display a remarkable range, effortlessly switching between comedy and drama. Their portrayals are so convincing that it is easy to forget they are acting. The supporting cast also deserves praise for their strong performances, each bringing something unique to the table. It is clear that these actors are not only talented but also deeply committed to their craft, making them the future stars of the Malayalam film industry.
Visually, the film is a treat. The cinematography captures the essence of the setting beautifully, whether it's the vibrant scenes of the first half or the more subdued, emotionally charged moments of the second half. The music and background score complement the narrative perfectly, enhancing the overall impact of the film without overpowering the story.
In conclusion, this film is a well-rounded package that offers something for everyone. It is a rare gem that manages to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. The blend of comedy and emotion is handled with care, and the result is a film that is not only enjoyable to watch but also leaves a lasting impression. The performances are top-notch, and the direction is confident, making this film a must-watch for anyone who appreciates quality cinema. The future of the Malayalam film industry looks bright with such talent emerging on the scene.

Vaazha is an entertainer, but tried to cover a "sophisticated subject" in a movie medium. The actors gave a commendable performance, everyone fits to their role. The screenplay was superb, but slightly failed to capture the totality of emotions between son & father/parents.
The film brings smile even to the older generations. And it gives a real remedy for suicidal thoughts😁. If you watch with your parents, then you get many topics for discussion and for sharing emotions further.
It gives a feeling to everyone that life is a continuous journey for those who stand even after failures. They explained a serious subject in a funny way.
Editing was good. Good creativity, overall...!!

This was an entertaining watch - one you can watch with friends and even family - but with friends you might enjoy the first half tremendously. ( Especially if you older than say 27-28 ).
First les talk about what works : -
1. Casting was spot on - the story happens across different time periods and all actors, especially the child actors of various ages played convincingly and the pair of father's and their son were casted really well as well. Especially the pair of Noby and his son ( all actors including child actors resembled him )
2. Period settings were on point ( the dress may be less so, but attention to detail was really commendable)
3. Cinematography and screenplay was organic and done with passion and finesse ( there is a fight scene near the middle which was brilliantly shot, similarly the stunning shots towards the end, inside the house, hospital - all were excellent.
4. Perfomance were pretty good - especially Aziz and Kottayam Naseer.
Now things that could be better -
1. Editing / direction could have been more crisp - the pace in the second half felt a bit too slow and few scenes seemed a bit of repetition and few elements felt could be elaborated or explained with more depth ( the story line around the 'sucessful' guy and his troubles and issues could either have been excluded or explained a bit more in detail - now it looks like a caricature and you don't 'feel' much for his plight due to this )
2. Ending was good and bad - won't go into details since it might spoil - but more depth could have given on what happens to the boys a bit more
3. Music and score was just ok - not really giving any lasting impression ( I cannot even recollect any song from the movie after leaving the theatre)

Vazha - A laugh riot. Really had a good laugh this year in theatres after Premalu. All actors did well except Basil. He is repetitive and I had enough of him. He is omnipresent now in every other movie.
Joemon jyothir was exceptional. Expect to see him many more movies. Started liking him from guruvayoor ambalanadayil the only part I enjoyed in that, otherwise a dampener movie.
Post interval the movie moved to emotional track and thought they would insert "Nanma" or preachy mode thankfully the movie again pulled back to the comedy genre and ending was also not a usual one. Music was exceptional as well but sometimes it is too loud that some dialogues are not heard clearly.

Highly relatable to 90s Malayalee kids entertainer. What could've been complete cringe behaviour and humour of the so-called backbenchers is saved and enhanced by some clever use of performances, editing etc. The inclusion of actual "Vaazhas" throughout the movie was fun. The emotional aspects they tried in the second half worked really well. The inclusion of different father-children relationships was great. Even the surprising empathy that is given to the issues of the so-called first benchers when you expect the movie to take the side of the protagonists was nice to see. However, I'm not sure how much this will work without a houseful audience.

This movie show us that society needs only successful people to brings it's reputation to
higher it's place. But does not care for those persons whom are being unsuccessful in their life. Everyone force their childs to study more but doesn't want to know what their child wants to be in his life. So I , with my personal opinion, support this movie and their basic concepts and want more like that to encourage our society that everyone is obviously fine in his place and don't force your children to do else what they really want in their life. Really this movie is fantastic and their characters are very impressive and such a new faces .

The story is pretty straightforward and this combined with clever acting and directing makes this movie an above-average experience. The talent-rich cast is one of the main highlights of this film.
The climax could have been executed more neatly, but that's not a drawback at all. After all, this is a pure comedy movie. There were lots of laughable moments. The second half was more engaging for me.
The veteran actors has done a great job. Noby Marcose deserves more roles like this and there is no point in typecasting him as a mimicry star.
Overall a good movie and we would love to see more films from the same cast in the future.

"Vaazha" is an extraordinary cinematic journey that expertly blends humor and heartfelt emotion. The film excels with brilliant storytelling and standout performances, delivering moments of genuine laughter and poignant tears. The characters are incredibly relatable, evoking nostalgic memories of past friendships and cherished moments, capturing the essence of 'Vazhaas' perfectly. It's a must-watch for families and friends, offering a rich experience that resonates deeply. The creators and actors deserve high praise for their remarkable dedication and for bringing such a compelling story to life.
The film Vaazha, directed by Anand Menen, can be classified as a cinematic work belonging to the campus comedy drama genres.
The narrative chronicles the lives of certain students, both in and out of the classroom, following their studies at school and college. The students in question demonstrate a certain apathy towards their studies, yet, compelled by the demands of their parents, they find themselves obliged to comply. The film's depiction of academic life is replete with the customary romantic entanglements, minor altercations, disciplinary measures and the summoning of parents to register complaints. The initial segment of the film is set in the milieu of school and college life, and is characterised by a comedic undertone. While the comedic elements may not have resonated with every viewer. The second half of the film transitions to an emotional theme, which the reviewer found more engaging. The film's narrative clearly portrays the pressures faced by sons from their parents to excel in their studies. As the film reaches its climax, the parents come to realise the true needs of their sons. The film's depiction of parental connection is noteworthy.
The film's narrative is adequate, the direction is satisfactory, the performances are commendable, the musical scores are noteworthy and are executed effectively, and the comedy scenes are partially effective. The film is valuable for one time watching.

The Malayalam film industry has been consistently delivering some incredible movies lately, and this one is no exception. It beautifully captures the reality of many boys' lives, from their school days to their experiences after college. The way it portrays friendship is truly heartwarming-from how they become friends, to the little funny moments and the challenges they face, especially the pressure from their families. The unity among the friends feels so genuine and relatable, and it's one of the most touching aspects of the film. What stands out the most, though, is the comedy. It's a non-stop entertainer, filled with humor, but at the same time, it manages to convey important lessons about life. There were even moments that brought my friends to tears. Overall, it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie and definitely worth watching. I absolutely loved it.

A light hearted comedy drama which will gives you the vibes of good old 90s' days. All the scenes especially in the 1st half will give you nostalgia feelings of good old school days whereas 2nd half of the movie is all about emotional drives between the characters especially with their friends, family and relatives. Movie is extremely relatable to those peoples who spent their school and college lives as became a back benchers and with average standard of course.
Movie contains a lot of hilarious scenes which are extremely close to the reality. Acting performances of all 5 leading characters were brilliant whereas other side characters also played their parts brilliantly. Uses of Music was quite good according to the situations. The choreography of Welcome Day fight sequence was damn good and hilarious to watch along with the police station scene. Cinematography was brilliant and the movie was fast paced with properly edited.
But somehow Climax of the movie was quite normal and it ended like just a normal movie. They should have definitely focused about some remarkable ending which would have create some buzz around for it's sequel.
Overall a complete Family movie despite a moaning sound in the background for 30sec around in the early part of the movie. From my side it will be 6 Out of 10 Stars for it..

A Heartwarming Comedy-Drama That Delight
Vaazha masterfully blends humor and emotion in a way that feels both refreshing and deeply human. At its core, it's a story about life's everyday struggles, triumphs, and absurdities, wrapped in a charming mix of wit and warmth.
Plot: The movie follows moosa, an ordinary individual facing extraordinary circumstances, navigating relationships, career setbacks, and personal growth. While the premise might seem simple, the nuanced storytelling elevates it into something truly memorable. The film's humor is sharp, but never mean-spirited, making even the awkward and uncomfortable moments relatable and laugh-out-loud funny.
Comedy with Heart What makes this film stand out is its balance between light-hearted comedy and heartfelt drama. The jokes are perfectly timed, keeping the audience smiling, but it's the moments of vulnerability that leave a lasting impact. You find yourself laughing one minute and tearing up the next, which is a testament to the film's ability to capture the complexities of real life.
Performances The cast delivers stellar performances, with daizy in particular shining as azo. Their portrayal is both hilarious and touching, making you root for their success and empathize with their struggles. The supporting cast is equally impressive, adding depth and color to the story.
Themes: At its heart, moosa is about resilience, friendship, and finding joy in the little things. Whether it's through quirky dialogue or tender moments of introspection, the film reminds us that life, though imperfect, is worth celebrating.
Final Thoughts Vaazha is a delightful blend of comedy and drama, one that entertains and uplifts in equal measure. It's a feel-good movie with enough depth to leave a lasting impression. Perfect for those who enjoy a good laugh with a side of heartfelt emotion, this movie is a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Vaazha, directed by Anand Menen and written by Vipin Das, reinstates that the latter is in better form when he's the one writing (and not just directing-yes, I'm looking at you Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil). The first half is breezy and light-hearted with casual fun poked at clueless millennial kids from the 90s, delivered with just the right dose of relatability. I wouldn't say it's a laugh-out-loud comedy, as its humour was fairly hit-or-miss for me. The scenes with Hashir and Basil were a riot, however. The film takes an emotionally heavy turn in the second half, and this is where I feel the seniors got to shine, making it a more well-rounded experience. Jagadeesh, Kottayam Nazeer, Noby, Azees, and the rest come up with such huggable performances. Meenakshi Unnikrishnan also gets a noticeable role though I largely missed her presence in the latter half. The boys-Joemon Jyothir, Saafboi, Siju Sunny, Anuraj OB, and Amith Mohan Rajeswari-can deliver if the script gives them enough to work with. A large team of composers (Rajat Prakash, Nomadic Voice Parvatish Pradeep, Electronic Kili, Jay Stellar) provide a stellar soundtrack, making the film a (bitter)sweet, memorable affair. Not too sure about the sequel though, but chances are, it might be a lot funnier than this.

The story is mainly about five friends who come together and their seriously mischievous acts. Their parents try to separate them but they end up together in same engineering institute. All of them are bad at studies how will they cope up in this cruel world.
I saw a Hindi dubbed version and I thoroughly enjoyed 80 percent of movie. I enjoyed it as a native viewer. I don't know if it would be same for people from south. The movie is a hilarious drama-comedy.
The 20 percent that I dint enjoy comes as we approach end. The boys weak at studies how will they cope up? It's shown their parents finally support them and even take up insult from relatives. Also I dint like the negative ending.
It came to my mind that in real world parents mostly hide what their children are pursuing with something respectful if their children are weak. This was not shown.
Music in Hindi dubbed version is above average.
Final Verdict: Do watch it. With the hilarious comedy in place, I was jumping in my seats. You may be surprised.

Am so confused. I got into the first 30m loving the style and everything and then started losing it a bit. Towards the mid and the later half I was not too happy and was wondering why I am continuing to watch the movie.
And then after a long time (if u read my other malyalam movie reviews) I was astonished and very happy to have a beautiful ending. I didn't expect that and I actually had tears in certain scenes.
Yet few stars less than optimum coz the plot meandered in between.
Is it a must watch? Hmmm not sure. If you can sit through to the last I guess you may appreciate it. However they still mash it up at the very end with a scene which is completely unnecessary 😊

"Vaazha" is a captivating teen drama. This story has highlighted togetherness and discussed the unsaid aspects of friendship.discusses a number of important societal issues in a straightforward but insightful manner. The plot simply unfolds like a real life. After seeing this movie, you will feel as though you have entered someone is life. Telling true stories was both entertaining and a window into the realities that most parents and kids face. It discusses the relationship between parents and children in greater detail than friendship. Overall, this movie has addressed issues that teens have not discussed, addressed their doubts, and depicted the challenges of adulthood.

Vaazha - Biopic of a Billion Boys
A light entertainer throwing light on the lives of teenage boys and their mischievous behaviour in their academic life with many hilarious moments.
The plot of the movie is on the lives of typical teenage boys and how they succumb to the pressure from family and society on their academics and to flourish in life.
Vipin Das has penned the story that can be very much connected to the audience. The first half of the movie moves completely on humour track and the crew has mixed friendship, love, bonding and fun elements in the screenplay. The story moved in a hustle and lost track in some places were few flaws in the screenplay.
The second half of the movie moved to an emotional track with family moments. Splendid performances by Kottayam Nazeer,Jagadeesh,Azees Nedumangad,Jomon Jyothir,Siju Sunny & Amith Mohan Rajeshwari.
Anand Menen has carried the movie and mixed all required flavours and aroma to seek the attention of family audience and students.
. A decent entertainer for family audience.
Rating - 3.25/5.

The movie was worth each and every paisa spent in terms of comedy experience and theatrical experience. The direction was perfect and the acting by the whole crew was flawless. It was able to generate all the intended emotions, be it comedy, a bit of psychological stress or resilence in all the perfect dose. We couldnt feel a second of time that passed away. It was a great time-pass movie also. Storywise, it also had a good message towards parents and children. It also exposed the acting calibre of some of the under rated stars of malayalam cinema industry. All in all, it is a well made conedy entertainer.

It's a movie made especially for boys. We can relate a lot of things that happened in our previous college and school time.
Friendship, lecture bunks, arguments, relationships, and all the highs and lows that the teens experience are the main themes of this film.
Boys' life transition from immaturity to abruptly taking on responsibilities is presented brilliantly.
Malayalam Film industry is overshadowing BOLLYWOOD.
Cast of movie:- Siju Sunny as Ajo Thomas Joemon Jyothir as Muhammad bin Salim Ebrahim (Moosa) Amith Mohan Rajeshwari as Vishnu Radhakrishnan Anuraj O. B. as Abdul Kalam Anshid Anu as Vivek Anand Saaf Boi as B. C. Vishwam Kottayam Nazeer as Radhakrishnan, Vishnu's Father Azees Nedumangad as Thomas "Thomachan", Ajo's Father Noby Marcose as Ebrahim, Moosa's Father Basil Joseph as CI Krishnan (Cameo Appearance) Jagadish as Vishwam's Father Meenakshi Unnikrishnan as Maya Sruthy Manikandan as Daisy Ziya Vincent as Reetha Hashir as Hashir Alan Bin Siraj as Alan Ajin Joy as Ajin Vinayak as Vinayak Gibin Gopinath as Vivek's Father Arun zol as Abdul Kalam's Father Sminu Sijo as Radhika, Vishnu's mother P. The starting was slow but good and waiting for some twist or something extra ordinary to be happen. But movie showed only dark side of school and college like fights and smokes. Vaazhai was way better than this movie. Starting scene of Banana plant stealing was just lost. Also title was not perfect at all. Only displayed failure of Boys. That's not biopic of billion boys. Not every boy was like them. End was very bad. Very poor end. Audience was expecting a final success for boys after so much humiliating in front everyone and every idiot relative. Last scene when parents supporting sons was quite good. At least they could be successful businessmen of Banana Plantation.

Vaazha - Biopic of a Billion Boys (2024) :
Brief Review -
To all the backbenchers and their fathers! An absolute riot folded with rooted emotions. Vaazha starts off in rocket speed mode and starts making sense from the 4th or 5th minute itself. True friends are met in the hardest times, he says, and the two bored kids find each other as friends for life. That's how it's done. The third one comes unknowingly, and that's how it happens in real life too. The fourth and fifth ones come with a humorous line that says that people become friends at the gym and other places, so we became friends outside the headmaster's office. The gang takes you on a hilarious ride from school to college and then to job days. The school part should have been bigger because I believe everybody has their most unforgettable memory from the school days only. The college days are even funnier because the boys have almost turned into men. The first day of college, a big fight, and then one of the beats one of the professors unknowingly. Wild fun. Those fathers were angry but had to get used to the idea after a while. So used to that they even have to defend them sometimes. But towards the end, that defending becomes emotional and powerful. The relationship between father and son is like that. No matter how big a failure you are in your life, your father will stand with you and encourage you to do something that's doable because he had gone through the same in his past. The love affairs are hilarious in the beginning but then get a bit dated later. We still enjoy the delivery boy and tea partner stuff, though. I have been a first bencher myself, but I used to hang out with backbenchers, so I know the kind of pressure they got from their parents and how I would feel sorry for them and also laugh at them at the same time. The first bencher and his wife had to be separated; that's one way to look at the so-called better life. Sometimes, the worthless fellas hold more value than smart students. I agree despite being out of the club.
RATING - 7/10*

Making a big splash during its theatrical release, it is now garnering love on OTT as well. How can you miss watching a movie like this?
The film follows the journey of four friends from childhood to adulthood, filled with misadventures that repeatedly land them in trouble.
As the tagline rightly says, it is the story of billions of boys across the country. The narrative reflects a larger section of society-the so-called "losers"-who couldn't achieve the lofty dreams their parents had for them. Yet, what they have is friendship, thicker than blood. This simple tale resonates deeply, striking a chord and making you feel every emotion along with the characters. Credit goes to writer Vipin Das, who is solidifying his name in Malayalam cinema with every project.
In terms of performances, it feels like the roles were tailor-made for each actor. The friends-Siju Sunny, Joemon Jyothir, Anuraj O B, Amith Mohan, and Anshid-are the lifeblood of this film, and they have absolutely nailed it. Their arch-rival, played by Safwan, is equally impressive. Supporting these boys are stellar performances from their on-screen fathers, portrayed by Jagadeesh, Kottayam Nazeer, Noby Marcose, and Azees Nedumangad. Basil Joseph's special appearance adds charm and comic relief to the narrative, and he delivers brilliantly. Even the younger versions of the characters are perfectly cast.
Director Anand Menen has crafted a film that will resonate with millions. The father-son relationships, often sidelined in other films, take center stage here and stand out as the highlight of the movie, distinct from any other portrayal. Prepare to get teary-eyed during the emotional confrontations between the father-son duos in the climax. Even the non-lip-synched songs enhance the movie's emotional depth. And for the fun part-there's a sequel hinted at in the film!
This movie will make you laugh out loud, make you think, and even shed a tear. Missing out on such a well-made film is a crime, and you are not a criminal-so watch it soon!
