If you're a fan...

Even a rehash of clips and information about your favorite stars is/can be fun. I hear nothing that is out of line with what is essentially film fan common knowledge.

Mediocre

A documentary series on some of the most famous performers from the world of cinema.

Mediocre. The stars are reasonably well chosen and there is some interesting information about them. The clips from movies are also well chosen and make you want to go out and see those films.

However, most of the interviews are the same critics and 'experts' saying how wonderful such and such is. They'll even highlight abysmal movies and say how great they were in it. It's very unobjective and irritating.

More than this, it's formulaic. They do the same thing over and over: different star, same interviewees, same empty platitudes.

Some genuine analysis and objective criticism would have gone a long way.

Several errors about Jimmy Stewart

Stewart was not drafted, he enlisted and then got into the Army Air Corpse NOT as a fighter pilot but as a Bomber Pilot. He was then supposed to be a showcase piece, but with the help of a close friend, Hap Arnold, was able to fly in some of the most dangerous bombing missions of the war. Later to be one of the flyers to help set up the bombing raid on D-Day***although d-day was used in a lot of missions with the real name being Overlord***. American pilots had not taken off in the dark till this raid and were nervous about taking off during the early morning hours in order to get there in time, as they had to drop their loads till minutes before trhe landings. So Jimmy tought up a plan on how the pilots should take off at slightly different angles and then form up after all where in the air! So lastly for Jimmy diehards I recomend the book "Jimmy Stewart - Bomber Pilot! A really exzcellent book!

Morgan Freeman story

I enjoyed many of the "Silver Screen" episodes, until they said Morgan Freeman was in Electric Street........it was Electric COMPANY.....geeze. You need to research your stars life more throughly before it's televised.

Extremely average program!

I really enjoy seeing programs on actors, how they began and progressed during their careers but this show is full of platitudes and over the top praise for absolutely everything every actor does. Some of the worst movies and worst performances from certain actors are described as 'genius' and 'outstanding' when at the very least should have been omitted from the show if the reviewers didn't want to criticise or accurately describe a movie and performance, and you don't have to be a professional actor to distinguish between a good and bad portrayal of a character.. it's obvious.. As other reviews have stated here, many of the facts they sprout are not researched properly and are inaccurate which is unforgivable and should not occur so basically their factual information can't be trusted and their opinions are just as flawed. What I have learnt is there are no bad actors and definitely no bad performances.. and everything is outstanding and amazing.. I think the people on this show are simply too scared to voice an honest opinion just in case they might want to interview that actor or say something that might offend one viewer.. no matter the reason, it's annoying..

Filled with Inaccuracies and Contradictions

The so-called experts of the series, also known as 'Discovering (name of film star), clearly do not possess the knowledge they pretend to have. Their factual comments are so appallingly false as to make watching any episode an exercise in foolishness. Don't waste your time.
