Tim Allen said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2014) that "the writer that's doing Toy Story 5 (2026) wrote one of the better ones and said, 'If I didn't get this right, I wouldn't do it.' It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it.". Allen didn't specify who the writer is.
This is the fifth Pixar Animation Studios film to be directed by Andrew Stanton, including 1001 Pattes (1998) (which he co-directed), Le Monde de Nemo (2003), WALL·E (2008) and Le Monde de Dory (2016).
The release date was announced on April 5, 2024 to be June 19, 2026.
First Pixar Animation Studios film with Andrew Stanton as the main director to not be composed by Thomas Newman.
