I just watched this a couple days ago. I have never reviewed a film before but this film was so atrocious, I had to do it. It's supposed to be the Victorias Secret fashion show but what the heck was that? What the FRIK was the carrot dance??? What did I watch??? I am absolutely confused and appalled by this disaster of a film. It's dark, it's depressing, it looks like a clear representation of America right now though. All of the beauty, wonder, and inspiration was just sucked out of it. Most of the models didn't even look like they were in lingerie which is what Victoria's Secret sells. I barely saw any wings. It was nothing like what I've grown up watching. I completely understand trying to do something different but they definitely missed the mark on this.
I understand they are trying to connect with the audience in the intro. But this video makes no sense. Visually it's amazing but it's like a billionaire showing us his daily life and saying yes we are the same. It's boring and cheesy. I could have made a more relatable video with an I phone and had people tell me how the brand empowers them.
The video looks heavily edited. It looks like they "tried to hard" the original fashion show let's you enjoy the outfits created by the designers. This is just cut scene and cut scene again visually amazing but not for a fashion show. I wanted to skip half of the video. . The marketing team need to rethink their plan.

I couldn't watch most of it because it was so cringey. Trashy musical guest and overall awkward composition. Sure there was talent in the designers, but what happened? The glamour, the fancy and intricate costumes that drew us in and made the brand unique are gone. Fantasy is what sold the merchandise and made customers loyal. This display was strange and confusing. VS has done an over-correct on their brand and this just felt like one big virtue signal. "Look at how aware and diverse we are going around the world giving artists a voice". Ok, nice but yawn. Read the room. Also was Gigi Hadid's voiceover done while wearing a mask? The whole thing felt like a disappointing mess. Bring back the old VS models and glam. No one really wants this. The brand has lost its way. As a former long time employee I am saddened. Not to mention the stores have awful service now. The company's focus is just wrong and this film was a portrayal of that. A dull and boring company has snuffed out the light of a company that once shined so bright.
After offensive comments were made by former VS CMO back in 2019, the company was chewed out by much of the public, resulting in VS making massive changes to the way they do things. They decided to stop the VS Fashion Show and decided to take a new approach. Yes, change was necessary... but the company choosing to cancel the VS Fashion Show is proving to be a huge downfall for the company. This documentary was good. But it felt more like a Victorias Secret sponsored show for fashion designers around the world. That is amazing!... don't get me wrong... but the many of the items being shown in the documentary aren't being sold by VS. It documented the lives of artists from all over the world. Again, this is amazing, but a lot of the documentary has absolutely nothing to do with VS... aside with some of the models being VS Angels. The documentary just doesn't make sense in my opinion. I do still see this as a beautiful project, but I can't stop thinking about the classic VS Fashion Show we lost. This seems like a way for the company to get forgiveness from the public. I strongly believe that if the company grew the female leadership within the company while keeping the OG fashion show, they would be seeing more viewership. If you're a VS fan, check this documentary out. For me, it just didn't make sense.... The marketing at the moment is all over the place trying to mend the past mistakes the company has made. The approach they are taking is not helping in my opinion.
Wow, I can't even say. I had goosebumps at some points throughout the film, I cried in some instances. It was truly a trip throughout the world showcasing how these incredible pieces were made. Showcasing all sorts of artists from different walks of life, while still having incredible cinematography and fashion. I felt like I saw so many music videos in such a short amount of time, as it was so innovative. Im aware this wasnt made for the audience that VS usually has, and Im not the targer audience of VS which is where the film fails to have been successful but i have hope that this will resurface in a few years again, i was truly blown away.
