After waking up believing it’s 1996, Nesh Pillay must rediscover her (love) life.
Do you remember the classic rom-com “50 First Dates” where Adam Sandler falls in love with Drew Barrymore… except she’s got no short-term memory so he has to woo her day after day until he finally sweeps her off her feet? Well, something like that really happened, and it’s told in the fascinating docuseries “50,000 First Dates: A True Story.” Debuting on Prime Video on Tuesday, Feb. 11, the two-part series follows Toronto entrepreneur Nesh Pillay. Nesh wakes up one day with no recent memory, thinking it’s 1996. She has no idea who she is and mistakes her own boyfriend for an Uber driver. Now, she has to navigate the ups and downs of relearning her life, falling in love again, and figuring out where she fits in a world she doesn’t remember. Don’t miss...

Its pretty interesting how sometimes two streamers will release similar documentaries around the same time. Take Netflixs Fyre and Hulus Fyre Fraud, for example. Both arrived in 2019 and looked into the wild circumstances surrounding the disastrous titular music festival. More recently, there was Netflixs Escaping Twin Flames, a heartbreaking story that was mirrored in Prime Videos Desperately Seeking Soulmate: Escaping Twin Flames Universe. Now, Netflix and Peacock are at the center of the same conversation but with two very different viewpoints. On August 14, the former celebrated the premiere of its latest docuseries, American Murder: Laci Peterson, and, on August 20, the latter will shed light on the other side with Face to Face with Scott Peterson, which has just dropped a fresh teaser today.

When she first discovered the Twin Flames Universe, Rai was in the midst of a time-honored tradition: the post-breakup healing journey. "I was looking for help and tips on getting over someone," she tells Popsugar. "I was having a lot of trouble."
She wound up getting a lot more than she bargained for. Twin Flames Universe, an organization founded by self-proclaimed spiritual gurus Jeff and Shaleia Ayan, brands itself as a group that can help members find true love and spiritual transformation. Using Facebook groups, video courses, and coaching programs, Jeff and Shaleia promise that every Twin Flames Universe member will achieve what they themselves claim they have: a divinely ordained, transcendent love that spans lifetimes. However, former members say otherwise.

With the success of long-format cult-exposé documentaries such as Hulu’s “Stolen Youth,” HBO’s “The Vow” and Netflix’s “Wild Wild Country,” it’s not surprising that both Amazon and Netflix greenlit competing docuseries about Twin Flames Universe – an alleged online love cult run by YouTube influencers Jeff and Shaleia Divine.
Amazon’s “Desperately Seeking Soulmate: Escaping Twin Flames Universe” is being released on Oct. 6, a month before Netflix’s “Escaping Twin Flames.”
“Desperately Seeking Soulmate” is based on journalist Alice Hines’ 2020 Vanity Fair article about the “always online, all-consuming world of Twin Flames Universe.” The article and subsequent docuseries, which Hines leads, takes a deep dive into the alleged online love cult, which is still active. Created by Jeff and Shaleia, Twin Flames Universe sells online classes that guarantee to match each member with their “soulmate.” The three-part Amazon docuseries examines how Jeff and Shaleia met and formed...

Humans are social creatures who need to make connections to survive. Sometimes they desperately search for that profound connection that is driven by the feeling of love. When we fall in love with someone, believing that person to be our ultimate soulmate, an irresistible pull of attraction and obsession works between us. However, if there is a heartbreak in between, that soulmate becomes a traumatic memory. The healthiest decision may be to free ourselves from that trauma, no matter how madly in love we are. Never, if we make that one person the ultimate truth of our lives, will we lose the confidence or the love that we are supposed to give ourselves. In such vulnerable times of heartbreak, human beings find solace when another person comforts them with kind words—the words that can influence them to regain that confidence and the energy that they invested in their relationship.

Exclusive: Netflix is lining up its next cult documentary.
The streamer has ordered Escaping Twin Flames, a three-part series about the Twin Flames dating platform. The service promised to find people’s true love, or Twin Flame, but what sounded like love might have been more of a dangerous obsession rooted in a cultish mindset.
The series, which launches November 8, comes from Cecilia Peck, who directed Starz’s Seduced: Inside the Nxivm Cult, and Good Caper Content, the ITV America production company behind TLC’s Taken At Birth.
It will explore the story of Jeff and Shaleia Divine, the leaders of Twin Flames Universe, who sell online classes that guarantee harmonious union with your destined partner and will pull back the veil of the universe, a controversial online community that preys on people looking for love.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

Documentarian Marina Zenovich is adept at exploring the lives of complicated men. From Lance Armstrong to Roman Polanski to Robin Williams, the two-time Emmy winner has tackled subjects who have summited the heights of their professions and endured the humiliating depths as well. Her latest protagonist, former California Gov. Jerry Brown, fits the bill precisely, having done what no other politician has done — lead the country’s most populous and economically vital state over four terms.
But Brown had his failures too. The progressive Democrat fell short three times as a presidential candidate including a contentious bid for White House in 1992 that saw him politically bludgeoned by the more moderate Clintons. With ‘Jerry Brown: The Disrupter,’ which bows tonight on PBS, Zenovich takes the viewer through the California icon’s improbable arc, first elected governor at 36 years old and again at 72 with an Oakland mayor stint in between.
