The film starts out nice and pleasant, as Sophie (played by Ivisita Ivanova) is walking through the forest. Birds are chirping in the trees, the sounds of nature invite you into the scene, classical music makes this scene seem like an ordinary trek through the bush. What could possibly go wrong on such a beautiful day? We see a serene closeup of Sophie as she takes in her surroundings. The mood suddenly changes, the music becomes discordant as she stumbles upon a leather-bound book. "What does it mean?" is written inside the cover, along with symbols and markings. A voice over declares what is written in the book, to add something sinister into the storyline. "If someone reads this, run." If I were in this exact situation, I would have got the hell out of dodge. The tonal change is great as we start to feel something here isn't right. The writing on the tree indicates to me something demonic might be happening in the forest. She should run, but no, she puts the book back on the ground where she found it. Did she make the right decision to not run, as she carries on with her walk through the woods. Until she stops walking, and some strange events take place. Someone is calling her name. She should have run when she had the chance. Is there someone watching her? When Sophie comes across an abandoned building, some terrifying events take place, that is sure to please all horror fans. The deeper she goes into the building; the sense of unease is palpable. The tension ramps up as we wonder what will happen. The suspense is also building nicely. Something happens to Sophie inside the building, that will make you think twice about entering an abandoned structure alone! With an atrocious flashback scene that will give you the chills! The ending is great!
Overall, the cinematography is compelling, the sound effects and the music help to change the mood and tone; elaborating on the vibe to help push the narrative through. Although there is no dialogue you get the picture by the way the sound, music and the scenery deliver what words don't need to be said.
