Not impressed

I was so eager to watch this when it popped up in my feed on Peacock... But was very disappointed in the acting.... The storyline itself wasn't too bad but all in all it was not impressive. I will say out of all the characters Drew's was the best but even saying that I wasn't into it the way I thought I would be. Interesting twist/plot. I love me some Kandi but her acting in this was very weak and boring. Pretty much like the others. I have no ideal why they even cast Shemia in this. Good grief. I was really hoping I would like this tho since I'm a fan of RHOA so I wanted to see something good happen for Todd. I just wasn't impressed.

Unlike most guessed ending about 7 minutes in and while giving some actors props that first scene when they were touring the house - just absolutely painful - those silences that lingered - Drew tried to carry it against the overacting 101 she was up against but no one could put lipstick on that pig Was actually looking forward but to this but honestly it just was not worth 90 minutes of my life If you're a Real Housewives of Atlanta fan can see you clicking this on Peacock but even with that you may find it a slog to get through to the end - or just fast forward to the final 5 minutes Guess for a first movie attempt at really low budget maybe the movie gets a pass too but next time spend the money so all your actors are of the same level.

Just... painful to watch (SMALL spoiler)

Props to Candi and Todd for making a "low budget" film through their respective companies. However, this is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. The "actors" seem like some attractive people who were plucked from the street and given roles, the storyline isn't cohesive, there is no character development, no arc, nothing. What irked me the most is that the whole movie is based on giving someone a "pass" in marriage to see other people, but there was absolutely no reason for this couple to come to this decision! They weren't having intimacy issues or romance issues. It made no sense to see other people just because the main character's mom is meddling in their lives! The whole setup for why they did it in the first place didn't make any sense, and it's what the whole movie is about!

While I think it's wonderful to support your community and people you like from TV, coming on here to give this movie a 10/10 and write things like "great plot and acting!" and "must see!! Keep them coming!" like you've never seen Fences or Set It Off or Brown Sugar, is not doing anyone any favors. Not the producers who may think this is actually worth watching, not the actors who will think they don't need to improve, and most certainly NOT the viewers who are expecting a half decent film. This movie is not good.

I can appreciate wanting to make a flim, but this is a prime example of "just because you have the means to, doesn't mean you should".

Disappointing

I hate to say it because I absolutely love Todd and Kandi, but I couldn't even finish this movie. I enjoyed the plot line, but the acting was so bad it ruined it all for me. I hope they do another project with better acting. Kandi did a great job, but I expect nothing less from her. Seriously, every other actor/actress made my skin crawl. The dramatic responses were so overly dramatic it made me think of a high school play. And I don't know if it was intentional, but the mother reminded me of someone very real in Todd and Kandi's life. Sadly I will not recommend this movie to anyone. Thumbs down from me.

PLOT TWISTY AF

Wow! This was such a creative story line. You think it's one thing, it evolves into another. Just when you think you got it figured it out...BAM! Plot twist.

This was definitely not your typical "Pass" movie. If you ask me, it surpasses them all. It does have an ounce of low budget vibes, but I think they filmed this in 10 days. Which is honestly super shocking considering. Also I think they filmed the majority of it Kandi's house.

Kandi's character also cracked me up! It was so fun getting to watch her play the feisty friend. I couldn't tell she was acting.

I'm ready for the next Todd & Kandi film!!

Drew and the Best Friend Were Amazing...

Watch it if you have nothing else better to do. Drew Sidora is a star!!! She did the best she could with what she had. She's an amazing actress, period. The woman who played the best friend also deserves accolades, that's all I got. Kandi should've remained off screen and stayed behind the scenes. It wasn't necessarily a bad plot, just far fetched and over the top. Makes me wonder if Todd is setting up Kandi for the okie lol...but no, on a serious note, it's not bad. I definitely wouldn't watch again, nor would I recommend it, but Drew did a really great job. We knew from watching her on The Game that she was a winner. Kandi, stick to writing songs. Todd, stick to mooching.

Chi Towns Finest in full effect

It was Drew for me! As usual I support all things Chicago and since Kandi is in the tv show "The Chi" I thought why not support the film. I had no idea the plot would take so many turns. Drew was awesome and played her vulnerable yet sexy self very well. They could not have made better casting choices. The best friend/lover was also extremely sexy which made their love seems hard to not rewind and watch again. Great watch and it didn't seem like the budget was big but Congrats Todd and Kandi this accomplishment should open doors for your next project. I have loved Kandi since Xscape and am so proud to see her continue to grow and move into new lanes without fear. Legacy is important to the Kandi and an EGOT is surely in her future. When's the next film coming out Todd? I almost can't wait 😉.

Not my cup of tea lol

It was like a dry ass soft porno...1 star for effort, I just expected more. Of course their fan base will love it. The acting is horrible and the plot is ridiculous, I mean damn how many unnecessary twist and turns you want us to take. If you're gonna have that many sex scenes at least have some top tier acting to go with it. It was like I was watching something from the 90s. The cast members were dressed nice and I did not see any microphones in the wigs so it wasn't all bad I guess. I don't know seem like it was all over the place if they cut back on some of the twist and turns it would've possibly made more sense. My girlfriend was into it though.

Kandi - you're an amazing SINGER, maybe stick to that talent

Its not so much about the low budget, kudos to that....its more about making a real FILM. Todd did that...However I agree with the others, over doing scenes does not make better scenes. Rushing to get a film finished can lead to lesser quality acting and scenes. I just don't think Kandi should be acting. Even in The Chi her skills are forced . Clearly. You DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ACTRESS KANDI! It's ok to be a singer, producer, director....but acting is definitely not your talent. Drew is always a great actress, I just think her personal stress from her clearly unloyal husband really has her off her game....but don't let that squash her future.... Hollywood aka Tyler Perry really needs to start casting Drew Sidora . We do get tired of seeing the same black women constantly in acting roles that im certain ALOT of other black women are equally talented for. Todd has good direction, he's just focused on budget when clearly that shouldn't be a major factor. Afterall im sure his wife isn't skimping on her productions/ products etc...how much money do y'all need to make??? Too many irons in the fire.... Make another film Todd, with only your name headlining.

Drew Sidora is the only actor - movie screams low budget

A few things: I don't like being negative but the 2 stars are for Drew's acting and Todd for his first movie. The -8 stars are for the following harsh but honest observations: There are a few decent amateur actors like Drew's mom & boss but every other actor was awful! Very hard to watch.

Personally, I think Todd & Kandi had the oppty to elevate our people and not use the "N" word but apparently they think that's how all AA speak to each other which is sad. Not 1 man in the entire film had screen appeal and their acting was cringey. Drew's sex scene was the only thing that demonstrated acting.

Entertaining a good Plot twist.

The Pass was filled with drama, good acting, and quite seductive. Throughout the movie it kept me entertained, and trying to dissect as to where the story line was trying to go. It's filled with drama, scandals, love, heartbreak, and infidelity. The most important part is how things ended in this movie. I was quite pleased only because It's not your typical ending, instead it gave me a plot twist that you may, or may not have seen coming, but not like every other drama film with the same ending! One thing for sure is that not every movie has a happy ending. This was well written, and Well done!

Kudos!

I personally think it was Great For a First time Screen Writer.. And Honestly Could Have had an 10!! Wouldn't have know how quickly the Production was put together if we weren't honestly told... I Think it's worth the watch and would recommend the authenticity.. Great Job! Keep up with The Great Work looking forward to seeing what's next, and How you all grow and motive our Black Community with anything is possible!!!! If this product was put together to film in ten days.. In my opinion The Burruss Family and Team our setting the bar to what it takes to achieve Goals and Dreams... I also believe each and every Actor and Actress did very well. You Honestly Deserve 10 Stars... Again you All are Amazing Keep up the Great Work..

Horrilbe Story Line

I expected much more from this movie. I thought that for a change, it would show how a couple was mature enough to handle this 'pass' business.

The wife started out the gate in denial. She was not mature at all and turned out to be a ditz. I wondered what kind of friend Terra was from the moment I saw her in the jewelry store. Interesting how the mother saw right through Maurice.

Bottom line: Really annoyed with the story line half way into the move. A couple of the actors were decent, the others were just trying too hard.

I started writing this review the last half of the movie. I would not recommend this movie. Save your eyeballs for something else. :-(

Hands down the Best Movie of 2023! You must see!

I am HIGHLY impressed! This movie was EXTREMELY intriguing! It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! And the plot twist...let's just say...it's the last thing that you would ever expect! Some say that this story line is like so many others. I totally disagree. It's so good that I've watched it 3 times already and will watch it again tonight! With most movies I get distracted with social media and it takes me a while to actually sit through the entire movie. Not with this one! Do me a favor, grab your popcorn and maybe a glass of wine and enjoy! The directors and cast did an amazing job with this production. Huge shout out to Todd and Kandi Tucker for writing and producing this! Outstanding job! I can't wait to see more! Thank you!

Good But Bad

First let Me just say that I absolutely Love Todd, Kandi, nd Drew. That being said, I feel like it was a great plot twist but hard to watch because of the "acting" it also seemed a little all over the place. I really like Kandi as a singer but not so much as an actress. I like Drew as an actress nd singer because that girl has some crazy talent. Nd Todd... well, he's Kandi's Husband. I really feel like he's trying to find something to do that he's good at other than owning restaurants. Back to the movie though, I don't think I'd watch it again because I fought through til the end the first time.

Multilayered Drama

This film follows Nina (Drew Sidora) and Maurice (Rob Riley), a married couple who decide to explore an unconventional idea - a "hall pass" from fidelity.

What starts as a straightforward concept takes an unexpected turn,

leading to deception and intrigue.

The film's clever storytelling keeps viewers on the edge, surprising them with unexpected plot twists just when they think they've figured it all out.

In "The Pass," creative storytelling and gripping intrigue blend seamlessly to deliver an engaging cinematic experience.

While Kandi shines on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and in her music career, her foray into acting might not be her strongest suit.

Her performances lack conviction and appear somewhat lackluster. In "The Pass," her portrayal falls a bit short, lacking the necessary depth.

However, the film remains enjoyable, especially with a glass of wine in hand. The drama.
