When Kenan Thompson joined Saturday Night Live in 2003, it was noted that he was the show’s first cast member to be born after the 1975 premiere (Thompson wasn’t born until ’78). These days, he’s known as the longest-tenured cast member in the show’s history, as he has been on there for 22 seasons – leaving the previous record, Darrell Hammond’s 14 season run (before he moved on to being the show’s announcer), in the dust. To tide you over until all the Jaws 50th anniversary festivities, you can catch Richard Dreyfuss‘ return to shark-infested waters with Into the Deep.

Currently available on VOD, the thriller swims onto Blu-ray and DVD on April 1 from Well Go USA. No special features are listed.

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actor Jon Seda shared how he prepared for his role as a villain in his new film Into the Deep. Into the Deep follows modern-day pirates who kidnap a boat of tourists and force them to retrieve sunken drugs from shark-infested waters. Seda reflected on how he prepared for his role as a psychopath in the film. “When I was first presented with this, it’s always intriguing to hear…’Hey, will you play the antagonist?’,” he told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “It’s easy to just think, ‘I’ll just be a bad guy.’ But I like to find out — I think all of us have a bit of good and a bit of bad. You know, some of us lean towards one way a little more…to me it’s why, what causes or what has caused someone to lean more this way or that way…...

Jon Seda is TV royalty. The actor has been a staple in procedural dramas for over two decades, but One Chicago fans will always know him, and love him, as Antonio Dawson. Seda played the character for six seasons on Chicago Pd, and helped expand the franchise by spearheading the lone season of Chicago Justice.

Seda currently stars in Into the Deep, a pulse-pounding action thriller. The actor plays a villain opposite Scout Taylor-Compton and Stuart Townsend, which is fun flip on the gritty but noble Dawson on Pd. We were lucky enough to discuss Into the Deep with Seda, and we also got the lowdown on whether the actor would ever consider returning to the One Chicago franchise.

Directed by Christian Sesma, Into the Deep is a decent watch, but if you watch it with the expectation of seeing something new or authentic, then you will be disappointed. If the aim was to make people aware of the urgent need to safeguard the marine environment, then it could have been done in a much better and more impactful manner. Due to a lack of inventiveness, the film is reduced to being just an underwhelming story of a woman named Cassidy who overcomes her fears by making a courageous move and tackling it head-on. So, let’s find out if in Into the Deep’s ending, Cassidy is able to overcome her past trauma or not.

Let’s be honest—we’ve all sometime in our life dreamed of channeling our inner Indiana Jones and finding some hidden or sunken treasure. Sure, working hard is great, but finding treasure that changes your life is a feeling like no other! But what happens when this adventure takes a dangerous turn? When the same waters hiding treasure are also home to sharks, hungry for blood and tracking your scent for miles? That’s exactly what the characters (tourists) in Christian Sesma’s movie “Into the Deep” (2025) face when modern-day pirates take them hostage at gunpoint. Forced into shark-infested waters, they must search for sunken treasure while fighting to survive.

“Into the Deep” is based on something we have all seen before about a big, scary shark wreaking havoc while some side story plays in the background. However, the film still manages to keep you hooked, at least for a one-time watch.

As the end of the first month of 2025 approaches, cinema fans can expect a few more treats through streaming, theaters, and VOD. Horror fans, in particular, will have their fill of content. Shudder delivers an unnerving tale of social spiraling and skin ripping with Grafted, Steven Soderbergh delivers supernatural thrills with Presence, and Robert Eggers' Nosferatu lurks its way onto VOD. At the same time, two lesser-discussed terrors making their way to VOD in Bystanders and Into The Deep might make for a pleasant surprise.

Dreyfuss returns to the genre with Into the Deep, A film that blends elements of childhood trauma with the terrors of the ocean. Shark movies are a dime a dozen, and more often than not, they’re living in the saltwater shadow of Bruce the Shark. Into the Deep does its best to tread water, but ultimately fails to stay afloat.
