John Leguizamo is not mincing words in addressing Dean Cain’s recent decision to join Ice.
The Bob Trevino Likes It star, who has been a vocal critic of Ice’s increasingly militant behavior toward immigrants, took to his Instagram Friday to share his thoughts.
“What kind of loser volunteers to be an Ice officer?” Leguizamo said in a brief video. “What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”
Today, Leguizamo doubled down, posting an image of a doctored DVD case featuring Cain’s likeness and name with the title “Aged Ice” on his Instagram Story. The caption of the original post read: “More like ‘Dean needs a cane’ amiright?”

Barbie Ferreira has certainly spread her Hollywood wings ever since Euphoria dropped on HBO. Fans might still remember her as Kat Hernandez from the hit series, even if Ferreira exited the show following Season 2. In recent years, Ferreira has dabbled in a number of horror projects, from Nope (2022) to House of Spoils (2024). And the list goes on, with Ferreira leading the charge in an upcoming remake of a '70s movie that was once marketed as being "banned in 46 countries." "Just because I'm not your father doesn't mean we can't be friends." Vertigo Releasing has revealed one more official trailer for the film titled Bob Trevino Likes It, made by indie filmmaker Tracie Laymon. It already opened last month and we posted a trailer earlier this year - but it deserves more attention. This first premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival last year, and it also played at Seattle, Melbourne, Newport Beach, Nashville, Mill Valley, and Denver Film Festivals, and many others. Bob Trevino Likes It is inspired by the true friendship that writer-director Tracie Laymon found with a stranger when looking for her father online. Often being the caretaker to people like her father who should be caring for her, Lily Trevino longs for a familial connection, having been abandoned by her mother as a child, then suddenly by her father in her 20s. When she accidentally befriends a...

Critics and audiences are not in agreement with the new animated religious filmThe King of Kings. Amid the two sides getting split, the film has earned a rare CinemaScore grade that's more in line with the film's near-perfect audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Officially, The King of Kings has been scored at A+ on CinemaScore, a movie surveyor that offers letter grades for new releases based on audience reactions. Getting an A+ score is rare with less than 130 movies in total ever reaching that high of a grade. So far, it's only the second release of 2025 to be scored at A+, following the success of the dramedy Bob Trevino Likes It, which was released last month. Only six movies earned the grade for last year.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has proven to be polarizing. It is currently scored at 63% by critics, making it just a few points shy of...

The gears are in motion for a fifth John Wick movie, despite the character's seeming demise at the end of the fourth film. However, whether Keanu Reeves returns or not, there's one character you probably won't see in a future John Wick film. In an interview with Collider's Aidan Kelley for his new critically acclaimed movie Bob Trevino Likes It, legendary star John Leguizamo stated that his character, auto mechanic Aurelio, likely won't be back for another round.
Says Leguizamo, of the possibility of a return to the blockbuster action franchise:
Yeah…Well… I mean, I was cut out of 2, so I was not the happiest camper. I had a whole backstory and everything, but I don't want to get into all that.
On the suggestion that he could return Wick's car after being absent from the franchise since the second film, Leguizamo was very clear:
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Once in a while, you see an actor who isn’t held back by the decorum that rules even most good actors. Her emotions don’t stay in check — they spill over the sides. When that happens, you may find yourself connected to that actor in a way that tugs your own buried feelings into the light. To me, the gold standard for this kind of acting is Chloe Webb’s performance in “Sid and Nancy” (1986). Webb played Nancy Spungen as a selfish groupie and unabashed junkie harridan, with a wail (“Si-i-i-d!”) that could frighten the damned. Yet part of the character’s mental illness is that she had no boundaries; she was all raw feeling torn asunder. Her pain and rage, her desire to be coddled and loved all announced itself with a furious punk purity. Webb broke your eardrums and your heart at the same time. She gave...

Editor’s Note: This review was originally published during the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival. “Bob Trevino Likes It” opens in theaters from Roadside Attractions on Friday, March 21.
The year of “Barbie” is continuing right on into 2024. But we’re not talking about that Barbie: Now, it’s Barbie Ferreira’s time to be talked about.
The “Euphoria” breakout star, who parted ways with the HBO series ahead of Season 3, leads “Bob Trevino Likes It,” her first film since the show exit announcement. While Ferreira has had roles in “Unpregnant” and “Nope,” it’s “Bob” that puts Ferreira on the map as one to watch — and she even executive produces it along with her co-star John Leguizamo.
In the film, Ferreira stars as Lily Trevino, a 25-year-old at-home caretaker who struggles with self-abandonment. The source of most of her woes? Her narcissistic abuser father Bob (French Stewart). Lily can’t...

Just one year ago, French Stewart was riding high. The actor, best known for playing the squinty-eyed, lovably clueless alien Harry Solomon for six seasons on “3rd Rock From the Sun” was at the SXSW Film Festival, earning raves for his turn as an emotionally abusive father in the Tracie Laymon’s debut feature “Bob Trevino Likes It.” The film showed Stewart, usually cast as likable characters, in a whole new light. It closed out the festival by winning both the Jury Prize and the Audience Award.
Cut to a year later, after the film has won more than 25 awards on the fest circuit and Stewart is back to hitting red carpets for its upcoming premiere. But at the same time, the actor reveals there’s been a struggle – he hadn’t worked in a year and was concerned he might lose his SAG insurance for the first time in his decades-long career.

Writer-director Tracie Laymon’s semi-autobiographical Bob Trevino Likes It is about the unlikely friendship that bloomed out of an unexpected friend request. After a lifetime of being told how worthless she is, Lily finds it difficult to believe that she matters at all.

Exclusive: Grammy-nominated rapper Logic has boarded dark heist comedy Above the Line as an executive producer.
Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.
The dark comedy tapping into Hollywood angst is the second feature of writer, director, and producer Jeffrey Scott Collins, after debut Poor Greg Drowning.
Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who are roped into a harebrained plan to steal the Best Picture awards of a despised producer who has screwed each of them over as they struggle to make it big.
The film stars Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood and The Last O.G.), Sophia Ali (Uncharted and The Wilds), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan, Reno Wilson, John Way and Jamie Lee (Crashing).
Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.
“I have been a massive fan of the project ever since Michael sent me the script,” said Logic. “Jsc and I have a mutual love for the dark noir comedies of the 90s that have influenced this project. I’ve loved infusing my creative input into this film, and the music in it, and I can’t wait for the world to see it on the big screen.”
Collins said the collaboration worked on a number of levels.
“His music is not only bold, edgy, and incredibly entertaining, which is what we are striving for with this film, but his albums have always had an impressive cinematic quality to them, which I’m drawn to,” he said.
“He is a huge cinephile, and nerd, and the world will soon see how talented he is as a filmmaker. His creative input on the script, the characters, as well as the music, has been invaluable and we couldn’t be more excited about his and Michael’s involvement in the film”.
Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on first feature Poor Greg Drowning, as well as the movie Why Him?, will also serve as Executive Producer. Other Executive Producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.
Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.

"She's just a kid who doesn't have anyone." Roadside Attractions has debuted the official trailer for an indie film called Bob Trevino Likes It, made by indie filmmaker Tracie Laymon. Often playing the role of caretaker to people like her father who should be caring for her, Lily Trevino longs for a familial connection, having been abandoned by her mother as a child, then suddenly by her father in her 20s. When she accidentally befriends a stranger online who also shares the same name as her own self-centered father, encouragement and support from this new Bob Trevino could change her life.

Barbie Ferreira may not be returning to “Euphoria,” but the actress is making her feature presence known with indie dramedy “Bob Trevino Likes It.”
The film, which debuted at SXSW 2024, stars Ferreira as a struggling caretaker who tries to cope with her absent father. While Ferreira has had roles in “Unpregnant” and “Nope,” it is “Bob” that puts Ferreira on the map as one to watch — and she even executive produces it along with her co-star and onscreen surrogate dad John Leguizamo.
Tracie Laymon writes and directs the semi-autobiographical feature, which is inspired by the true friendship of her befriending a stranger in real life while looking for her father online.
The official synopsis reads: “Often playing the role of caretaker to people like her father, who should be caring for her, Lily Trevino (Ferreira) longs for familial connection. When her father, Robert (French Stewart), finally checks out of her life,...

The Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain recently concluded its awards ceremony, handing out prizes to films that used elements of different genres to explore meaningful social and political issues. The festival, which ran from October 18th to the 26th, recognizes innovative works that push creative boundaries in cinema.
French director Alain Guiraudie’s film “Misericordia” took home both the Golden Spike for best picture and Miguel Delibes screenplay award. According to the jury, the film balances genres and tones in a simple yet complex way. Beneath the surface of a small-town thriller and comedy lies a profound meditation on how desire and guilt impact human relationships.
Two Silver Spikes were also awarded, split between “Stranger Eyes” from Singapore and Spanish film “They Will Be Dust.” “Stranger Eyes” examines surveillance and isolation through its genre storytelling. “They Will Be Dust” presented the serious topic of euthanasia in a unique musical format.

Alain Guiraudie’s “Misericordia,” Carlos Marqués-Marcet “They Will be Dust” and Yeo Siew Hua’s “Stranger Eyes” all won big at Spain’s auteurist haven Valladolid Film Festival on Saturday, in a second edition under José Luis Cienfuegos whose prizes served as a vindication of the changes he has wrought at the festival as well as an indication of some ways European arthouse is going.
All three directors’ awards build on prior upbeat reception. Playing Cannes Premiere, “Misericordia,” which scooped Valladolid’s best picture Golden Spike and its screenplay trophy, was hailed by Variety as a “darkly comic backwoods fable of pansexual desire and small-town sociopathy” which marks a “welcome re-embrace of the streamlined murdery perversities of his terrific ‘Stranger by the Lake.'”

In 1999, Orange County natives Gregg Schwenk and Todd Quartararo were working in the corporate sector but shared a love for cinema and producing events. They looked around their seaside locale and saw potential. “A beautiful coastal setting, surrounded by a vibrant business community and enthusiastic filmgoers, combined with our proximity to the film industry epicenter made Newport Beach the ideal place to launch an international film festival and build a world class event,” says Schwenk.
From those humble beginnings, Schwenk became the founder and CEO of the Newport Beach Film Festival, which has since become an internationally recognized event. This year, Newport celebrates its 25th anniversary during its Oct. 17-24 run. It’s also become a stop along the awards campaign trail for Oscar hopefuls and a way to celebrate some of the biggest names in the industry. John Leguizamo is reflecting on the roles that got away.
In an interview with Business Insider, the actor was asked about movies he’s turned down that he now regrets. “Oh yeah, The Devil Wears Prada, the Stanley Tucci part [as Nigel],” Leguizamo revealed.
Other roles he regrets saying no to were parts in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Happy Feet.
“I had my reasons,” said Leguizamo. “I mean, they’re stupid, but I had my reasons.”
When asked to elaborate further, he explained that he turned down the role of Brad Pitt’s character’s best friend, Eddie, in Mr. and Mrs. Smith because Pitt and Angelina Jolie were each getting $20 million while he would be paid on scale. “I felt dissed, and they probably weren’t dissing me, but I felt dissed,” he said.
Leguizamo continued, “Sometimes when you’re a person of color, you’re so used to being...

Austin, TX – The 2024Sxsw Conference and Festivals wrapped on March 16th, after nine days of magic and Austin wackiness, showcasing film, TV, interactive, conferences, interviews and music. The Film & TV Fest named “Bob Trevino Likes It” as the top Narrative Feature and “Marvin is Sorry” as top TV Pilot.
The Narrative Jury included Chicago critic Robert Daniels. The Jury’s statement about “Bob Trevino Likes It” was “Tracie Laymon’s semi-autobiographical story of a struggling young woman who finds anchor in an unlikely connection feels at once familiar and yet surprising. Laymon’s sure hand transforms what might have been saccharine into something raw thanks to vulnerable lead performances from Barbie Ferreira and an unusually uncool John Leguizamo. Refreshingly real and wrenchingly bittersweet, “Bob Trevino Likes It” stole our hearts and earned this prize.”
The following is the list of top honorees …
