The Netflix Effect is weird. Whether it’s “Suits” or “Madame Web” or a Netflix original like “Baby Reindeer” that turns into a sleeper hit, people tend to gravitate toward some truly random stuff on Netflix. It’s the case most weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts, but this week even we’re at a loss.
Coming in at No. 2 on Netflix’s Top 10 English Films for the week of February 17 was none other than “Uncharted,” the 2022 Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg adventure-thriller based on the PlayStation video game franchise. Because…why not?
You guys watched it 10.5 million times this week, behind only the Netflix original rom-com “La Dolce Villa,” which hit No. 1 for the second week in a row post-Valentine’s Day with 14.1 million views. “Uncharted” previously landed on Netflix on August 5, 2022, and it spent three consecutive weeks on the Netflix Top 10 charts at that time, reaching 23 million viewing hours in a single week.

Actor Danish Husain talking with Subhash K Jha delves into his new film, the Netflix Mexican drama, Lucca’s World, touching on his character and working with co-star Barbara Mori, as well as what might see the versatile actor in next.
How did you bag the plum role in the Mexican drama Lucca’s World?
Lucca’s World came to me as an audition from Nandini Shrikent and Karan Mally’s casting company. I guess the audition went well because despite the date issues, Mariana Chenillo, the director, kept insisting on me. I am glad it worked out in the end.
What was your reaction to bagging the pivotal part?
I was delighted, but finally, when things got sorted, I could only be excited about the forthcoming shoot.
You play Dr Kumar, who works as a kind of miracle worker on the seriously ill. Did you meet the real Dr Kumar?
No, I did not meet Dr.

Note: In this report of Netflix’s hours viewed from January 27th, 2025 to February 2nd, 2025, we’ll use “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” or Cve, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours viewed announced by Netflix by the runtime of films or series. It allows for better comparisons between films and series, but it’s not an audience metric. It is the minimum number of viewings if they were all complete from the first second to the last of the film or season.

Lucca's World, streaming on Netflix, has fans wondering if it was based on a true story.
The new drama follows the parents of a young boy, Lucca, as they navigate the ups and downs of raising a child with cerebral palsy.
Things take a turn in the film, however, as the family travels across the world for what seems to be a life-changing treatment for Lucca, something that could potentially reverse his diagnosis.

Most of the holiday wide releases are now available at home, with three coming out on VOD last week. “Moana 2” (Disney), by far the biggest in terms of box office ($454 million U.S./Canada so far), took the #1 spot at both iTunes (ranked by transactions) and Fandango (revenue).
Disney is charging $24.99 for a 48-hour rental, $5 more than usual. The other two — “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” (Lionsgate), released 18 days after it hit theaters, and Christmas Day opener “Babygirl” (A24) — both go for the standard $19.99
“Pantera” is #2 on both charts. “Babygirl” is #3 at iTunes, but #6 at Fandango. The psychosexual drama starring Nicole Kidman was possibly penalized with its Tuesday home release; Fandango covers Sunday-Thursday, though this didn’t hurt the other two new titles. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” (Paramount), “Nosferatu” (Focus), and “Wicked” (Universal) rotate other slots among the top six at both iTunes and Fandango.
The remaining positions differ.

Mexican actress Barbara Mori who came to India years ago to shoot with Hrithik Roshan in Kites, has matured mellowed and metamorphosed into a dependable performer. In Netflix’s Lucca’s World, she is cast as a mother coping with a child with cerebral palsy. The description makes her sound like a Mexican avatar of Mother India. And to a large extent, she is what every mother is when it comes to a special child: anxious, tense, and hopeful….
What makes Lucca’s World special, in spite of its unabashed sentimentality, is its humane attitude to the poignant situation. Barbara(Mori) and Andres(Juan Pablo Medina) discover soon after their child’s birth that Lucca(Julián Tello) cannot talk or walk and would probably not be able to live without constant attention. The couple’s struggle is never romanticized with excessive maudlinism and background music.
The tone feels right, if at times a tad trite.

In India, there’s a pattern of behavior I’ve noticed. We mostly don’t respect our engineers, doctors, and other academics, but the moment you make a film about them, or if they go viral on social media, we start labeling them as unsung heroes. I am not sure if I should be using this term for one of India’s top 10 scientists, but for Barbara Anderson and her family, real-life doctor Rajah Vijay Kumar is indeed a hero. In Lucca’s World, Kumar asks the family quite a controversial question, “What is God?” Well, Barbara’s journey itself is an answer to this question. There is a phrase in Hindi that goes, “If a person goes looking for something with an immense passion and determination, they can even find God.” And I am not saying Kumar is a god, or that his invention, Cytotron, is a miracle machine. I...

When a movie based on a true story involving a child comes out, you already know it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster. However, Lucca’s World isn’t, for the lack of a better word, “a sob story”; it is simply a happy yet moving film about a Mexican family desperate to help one of their own, bringing to life “The Two Hemispheres of Lucca” by Barbara Anderson, a mother, a journalist, and a woman eager to help her son. In the film, Lucca is born with cerebral palsy after a very difficult birth, and a guilty Barbara thinks she failed at her only job, “pushing,” and is to blame. As Lucca grows up, his condition doesn’t improve, and he begins to have epileptic seizures. Whatever treatments they seek, Lucca doesn’t improve. At the same time, Barbara and her husband Andres have a second child, Bruno. A...

Lucca’s World is a heartwarming, sentimental film based on the true story of the miracle recovery of Lucca, a young boy born with cerebral palsy. The story is as much about Lucca as it is about his strong-willed mother, Barbara, who was determined to give her son a better life. The lack of oxygen during Lucca’s birth resulted in his condition. Barbara enrolled Lucca in every new therapy that could benefit him. Balancing work and her responsibilities as a mother to a child with disabilities was not easy, but Barbara never complained. Her husband, Andres, was a constant support to her, and together they ensured that Lucca had the best life possible.
Spoiler Alert
Why did Barbara decide to travel to India with Lucca?
During an interview, when her client learned about Lucca, he suggested Barbara consult a Mexican doctor in India, who was popular for treating seemingly impossible neurological cases.

The Netflix original Lucca’s World is a true story inspired by the book “The Two Hemispheres of Lucca” by Mexican journalist Barbara Anderson. In this book, Barbara details the odyssey that brought her family to India and improved her son’s health drastically. This journey began in 2011, when Lucca was born with hypoxia, brought on by oxygen deprivation, which led to pediatric cerebral palsy. The first thing that truly stood out in Barbara’s book is how she makes sure to get the reader to leave their prejudice behind. by speaking of the two hemispheres of the world in relation to the two hemispheres of the brain. It’s a beautiful way to start her story, because we understand why she had to look to the creative East to help her son, rather than remain in the rigid West, where there were no answers for her. Despite having two tiny children,...
