Hallmark’s latest release, Mystery Island: Winner Takes All, really doesn’t warrant much discussion, given how amateurishly it is handled. Like its predecessor, Mystery Island which was released two years back, this one follows the same template and brings back the characters of psychiatrist Emilia and police detective Trent. But you shouldn’t have any trouble if you haven’t watched the earlier movie. This one appears to be heavily inspired by Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, although that’s hardly a point of criticism considering Hallmark Channel never actually claims to bring you original and prestige TV content. The movie is exactly how every movie of this kind is—mildly entertaining, something that can be played during dinner, and you don’t have to pay much to it. The plot is still (unnecessarily) complicated, and I’m going to untangle it for you in this article.

There are three Royal Movies in March. The first Hallmark March movie is The Royal We starring Mallory Jansen and Charlie Carrick. The premiere is on Saturday, March 1, at 8 p.m., Eastern. Next is The Reluctant Royal. This stars Andrew Walker and Emilie de Ravin. This movie premieres on Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m.

The expectations are high. Early in 2024, the network rebranded the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel to Hallmark Mystery. Furthermore, Lisa Hamilton Daly told the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast that they were committed to mysteries. Therefore, Sleuthers may expect a flurry of news on the 2025 mystery movies.

Something strange is happening. There are a slew of murder mysteries in both the theaters and the streaming space. Perhaps Knives Out was so successful that it not only generated a sequel but spawned these other whodunnits, which try their hand at concocting a story and wow the audience with the revelation of the killer.
