The Super Nintendo was released in France in April 1992, at the cost of 1290 French Francs, i.e. 197EUR, but with inflation, around 334EUR today (December 2024), and Street Fighter II at the cost of 650 French Francs (i.e. 99EUR or 168EUR with inflation). But Anthony's parents are working class, with his father having been laid off when the smelting plant was closed and doing odd jobs to make ends meet and his mother apparently unemployed, so there is no way they would be able to afford high-priced electronic hardware.
At the beginning of the movie, set in the summer of 1992, Anthony is seen playing Street Fighter II on his Super Nintendo, but the game was released in mid-December of that year in France.
Anthony says his cousin's mom is bipolar ("bipolaire" in French), but until recently, bipolar people were referred to as "maniaco-dépressifs" in France.
