Worth Watching

"Kota Bommali PS serves as a scathing critique of a corrupt system, encompassing politicians, police, and the divisive influence of casteism, even implicating the common man. A Telugu adaptation of the Malayalam film Nayattu, though not quite reaching the heights of its predecessor, it holds its own, especially for those unfamiliar with the original.

Set against the backdrop of Srikakulam, the film benefits from well-chosen locations that suit the Telugu version. Subtle script modifications enhance the overall experience.

Srikanth and Rahul Vijay deliver commendable performances, while Shivani holds her own. Varalakshmi's portrayal, albeit competent, is hindered by occasional stammering.

The background music and cinematography contribute effectively, and the direction is skillful. Kota Bommali PS is undeniably worth a watch for its insightful portrayal of a flawed system."

Hmm ! Just Meh !

This movie is just about watchable but that is all. The ' artistic license ' to create such a story seems to have been over exploited by the author / writer. The lady Police constable (Shivani) is shown to be too timid to be employed in the Police force. Toward the end of the movie, when the police approach, the AWOL police driver and the lady constable are seen sleeping. At this time the dog belonging to the owner of the little house (where all three hide) senses the charging police team and starts barking but the two who are sleeping do not wake up, till the, ' encounter specialist Policewoman ' Ali catches them. This seems to be a needless ploy to stretch the story and make the movie longer. Furthermore, it seems that the movie is much of an advertisement for the different available smoking devices. We see the encounter specialist Policewoman first smoking perhaps a normal Cigarette. The next time we see that she has upgraded to Electronic Cigarette. Her smoking does not seem to be caused by stress of her job, but it seems more to be a method to draw needless attention to her mannerisms. Liquor seems to be readily available all times to the protagonist as we see him drink all the time. The protagonist is heard saying that he did not witness the initial days of birth of his daughter and that he met her for the first time only seven days after her birth. He goes on to say that the seven day old baby, stared at him angrily at that time. This would mean that his baby is a prodigy to indicate anger seven days after being born. He also indicates that she was angry with him and was not on speaking terms because she thought that he had killed her friends father in a 'fake encounter. I am yet to hear or see a daughter, who has a normal relationship with her father, not being happy in whatever he does, Most normal father/daughter is based on utmost love.
