A Christmas Intern (2023) -
I have always struggled with these Christmas films when Jackée Harry and/or Vivica A. Fox appear, because I just don't like their comedy/style. Most of the time I don't even get five minutes in, but Doug Rogers was very cute as Donte so I thought that I might give it a go.
However in mid January trying to see out the end of the seasonal films even Doug just wasn't enough for me.
If I get a chance in the build up to another Christmas, I might give it another try, but the film quality wasn't very good and the weird screen cuts were an odd choice and I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to like the situation either as Alexis' Mother (Jackée Harry) turned up to spend Christmas with her while Alexis (Ciarra Carter) was trying to land Doug as an investor for her company. Meanwhile his Boss Charlotte (Viv) was clearly going to be tyrannical and I just couldn't put up with all of that again. I've seen it all before and there just didn't seem like there was going to be enough that was different from 100 other films or anything that would make this one standout and it didn't feel that it would be based that much on Christmas as much as it would just be a business contract turned romance set during the festive period and I didn't think we'd even see Doug shirtless so. . .?
Unscored as Unfinished.

I couldn't even finish watching the movie, first of all the acting was just not believable. Yes they are loud, push and excitable but really over the top. The story line was confusing at times and just not something that was I wanted to try and follow. Like I said I did not finish the movie due to all the above issues I mentioned. I think from now on I will be passing on any movie that has Jackee or Vivica Fox in due to this is not the first movie I had disliked due to these two actors. I did like some of the wardrobe as well as the surrounding area but other than that if you are wanting a loud, over the top confusing movie then by all means watch this movie.
Jackee Harry playing Cecilia visits her daughter, Alexis, by surprise in the middle of her busiest season. She becomes an intern and then miraculously boosts company sales though radio ads. The sixty plus year old becomes a model for photo ads. She starts up a romance with the warehouse manager.
Cecilia is trying to keep her investors happy and has to deal with their rep Donte. She tries to act like she is not interested romantically. Donte seems more interested in Ceclia than the company. Meanwhile his boss, Charlotte played by Vivica A. Fox, is micromanaging and criticizing everything about the company despite great numbers and Donte's hearty thumbs up. And worse. Most of the criticisms would have been known before the investment, so this scenario is just silly.
The conflict that creates the obstacle between Donte and Alexis is started by an invasion of privacy that honest people don't do, but then maybe today's generation does.
Alexis reaction to the crisis is just as bad, maybe worse. Oh woe is me.
The script is poor. Most of the acting is poor. There is too much talk about business details. Most of us who watch these movies think that there is more to business that just dollars, but this movie mixes up business and romance just too much. And when it does deal with business the writers have no idea how things work. The climax and ending are just stupid but then a lot of the movie was too.
