Ross, who has led Sidney Street since founding it in 2017, will step down from her Managing Director role following a restructure that sees four permanent roles closing. Among those who have exited are Head of Production Martin Buckett.

Always a frontrunner at Co-Pro Series, the Berlinale Series Market’s annual project pitching event, “Tipping Point” walked off Tuesday morning with the Series Mania Award.

The prize is an invitation to the production’s team to present again at the industry centrepiece at next month’s Lille-based get-together, the Series Mania Forum’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions. “Tipping Point” joins 15 other projects as a sixteenth project presented out of competition in partnership with the Berlinale Co-Production Market.

Set in the extraordinary Svalbard – an archipelago half way between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole, it turns on a feisty young eco-activist at constant odds with her father, an oil exec, until he is murdered. Teaming with some of his friends to investigate his death, she discovers another man from the one she knew, as she chases a stolen software which could solve climate crisis or destroy the world.

Crime shows look for a new angle, argued Berlinale Series participants on Monday.

The Indian crime drama streaming series ‘Jamtara’, which tells the story of intricate small scale scams of India and their repercussions, is set to return with its second season.

The official synopsis of the show describes it as the powerful visual of an enormous banyan tree in the middle of nowhere with hundreds of mobile phones hanging from it as it gets deeply embroiled in cyber crime.

The series tells the story of young school drop-outs who cook up an elaborate phishing scam raking in fortunes, only to be intercepted by the police and local politicians.

Netflix Greenlights Swedish Film ‘A Day And A Half’ From ‘Chernobyl’ Star Fares Fares

Netflix has greenlit A Day and a Half, a Swedish action film directed by, written by and starring Chernobyl and Westworld star Fares Fares. Fares will play police officer Lukas, tracking down leads Artan (Alexej Manvelov) and Louise (Alma Pöysti), a divorced couple on an emotionally-charged road trip when Artan takes Louise hostage to reunite with his daughter. The journey takes them through rural Sweden during a hot summer, all while having police on their heels. Warner Bros. International TV Production is producing and Fares is also writing alongside Peter Smirnakos. Time Studios is expanding its library of documentaries and kids and family programming. The television and film production company plans to broaden its scope by hiring new creatives and increasing its overall production spend.

The news comes as Time Studios announces it has surpassed $70 million in revenue since launching in early 2020. Netflix introduced a slate of 40 Indian films, series and documentaries at its “See What’s Next India 2021” event today, presided over by Monika Shergill, vice president of content for Netflix India, and Srishti Behl Arya, director, International Original Film.
