Within seconds of watching the first episode, the abysmal voice acting was apparent, and not just from one or two characters but across the board. It's very obvious that they did not give the English voice casting an adequate budget. What's shocking about this is the fact that this series was created by the same guy responsible for Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, two of the best voice acted anime series ever created, but this show has bad voice acting even for an average anime.
Aside from that, Lazarus is extremely derivative and has a boring/generic setting. The whole premise of the show (so far, anyway) seems like it was thought up in a matter of minutes. It honestly feels like Watanabe is just kinda over making anime, and this was something he did simply because a really good offer came along.
Definitely don't go into this series expecting something on par with the likes of Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. It's nowhere even close to that level of overall quality or artistic vision.

I'm loving this show man the concept ,the story ,the lore they are giving little by little ,the animation, the sound design and the action is great too it's grounded but it's good you know and also they have given some thoughts on world building it's looking good man and the vibe of the show is really cool the character's are likeable you know the main character has some mystery to it and the side character are interesting too i wanna see them how they all come together as a team looking forward to it.
So yeah if you wanna watch something good ,something new it's for you.
And i don't know why people are not liking the show, i mean i get the not liking part you know everyone has different taste but just fully hating the show not justify.

I watched anime when I was in middle school and I put this on every Saturday night, and.... it's terrible. It feels like a poor man's attempt at writing a Call of Duty campaign (replace Makarov with Skinner) but it's so weeb-ish.
Every episode is essentially -mission briefing -villain of the week that's somehow connected to the big bad (just like Call of Duty) -2d flat character making 2d flat jokes -the choppiest fight scenes ever -villain of the week losing for being a misogynist and giving info that leads to the next mission.
It's like when you go to anime move in theater and all the nerds laugh at unfunny jokes, this is what watching this feels like.
I was more of an Outlaw Star than Cowboy Bebop fan anyway.
I would give it a 5, but I like Eleina.
Edit I'm watching the cult episode. Holy Jesus.... It's like the writers watched "Top 10 scary cults" vid on YouTube and wrote characters based on it.
It's like someone gave the writers the cult episode from the simpsons family guy South Park and king of the hill and told them to give their own modern take on it.
Except there's no modern take and they somehow made the the take more flat and outdated then something from the 90s and a cartoon.

To be honest, this has to be one of the most visually stunning anime episodes i've ever seen. Shinichiro Watanabe is one of the best anime directors and we could see why he has that reputation.
The story is intriguing, the characters are all well designed and interesting, and the animation is greatly executed with the nonstop action sequences, and of course the ost, and music, has to be one of the main protagonist of a Watanabe creation, so overall, just one episode, but is promising as hell, and one serious candidate to anime of the year. And yes, i'm not overrating.
Watanabe and Stahelski make a fantastic work together, making this one of the most beautifully action animes we could ever imagined. I'm really waiting for more of this story, which i didn't even get into this review, but it's fantastic as well. Long live to this productions.

...this comes from Watanabe Shirow, because it lacks everything that made Cowboy Bebop so damned good.
The characters in Lazarus are two-dimensional, with nothing remotely interesting about them. They're boring, predictable, lazy, and stereotyped/clichèd. The dialog is pedantic, and the English dub is excruciatingly stilted and painfully slow. The storyline is just virtue-signaling scolding nonsense (I watch anime to be preached to? Who knew? Not me). And then there's the antagonist who has a completely contradictory agenda: everyone's to blame, so I'm going to kill everyone, except no I'm not, because if you can find me everyone will live. Huh?
The entire first episode has 15 minutes of parkour because...? I don't know either. But I do know it got really stale after the first five minutes.
