Invincible is Back

This special episode focuses on Eves origin story and shows her childhood life. While also showing some of the early heroes and villains along the way. The animation was top tier in this episode and the fight scenes were magnificent. Eves character is so fleshed out in this episode and you can really feel for her throughout. All the VAs were great and it really just shows how good Invincible Season 2 will be. The only thing I would critique is that it could've gone a bit farther into her life but this is still just amazing. Overall I hope the team at Invincible will do more of these special episodes for some other characters (bulletproof is my pick). But otherwise I'm giving this episode and 9.3/10 Invincible is back and Season 2 will carry on the success.

Unexpected but amazing

I personally had no idea this was getting released but I am glad it did. This special episode really helps flesh out atom eve's character and what led here to where she is now. And I loved practically every second of it the animation was great (as always) and the characters and tone are also super. I would say this gets almost as emotional and intense as the final episodes of invincible itself. I also feel like it would be really cool to see this kind of episode for other characters, ones like monster girl or rexplode as they have not really been covered much in the series (They could have been covered in the comic however, I have yet to read it).

More of the same which is a good thing!

First of all, glad that we got a genuine surprise after so long and none of this was leaked at all.

The episode itself is great, it explores the origin of Atom Eve and how she got her powers and I believe made me like her even more by the end. It's not essential viewing as far as I can tell but it's definitely a good one especially if you have missed Invincible content in your life like me.

Also, the animation looks like an upgrade from last season. There's also a mid credits scene which you would wanna stick around.

I am glad this special episode exists and hope that we can get a few more in the future.

we need atom eve series

When i watched invincible and saw atom eve for the first time i knew she would be my fav character and especially for her powers. Watching this special episode and knowing her backstory made me love her even more. She kinda reminds of jean grey from the comics which is my fav marvel character for her pink powers and that's why i like her more. This was really unexpected but i'm glad it came out. It would be amazing if other character's backstory episodes were released too but that's not what we need atm. I'm not really a person of writing reviews for movies or series but this made me do it. Overall this was super enjoyable from beginning to end as always and i wish they continue to surprise us.

An Excellent Prehistory For Such A Series

Strange writing and dialogue

The dialogue throughout the whole episode was unbelievably strange. It genuinely felt like it had been written by AI. Maybe their writers are still on strike and the producers just asked chat GPT for a script for the show. Honestly, I just couldn't wrap my head around how bland and basic the premise of her problems was made out to be. "Best friend, I have powers" "Normal people don't have powers, you are strange and different. I no longer wish to be your friend, you are not normal, goodbye". The whole episode was clunky and brick-like. I enjoyed the animation and story but the writing was abysmal.

Good episode yet it feels rushed

This episode is good and pretty accurate to the source material(with a couple of changes), but it feels rushed for some reason, from the animation except for the fights and a couple of key moments, and even some of the story and emotional moments. It feels like they had only a small amount of time and/or a small budget to complete this and to fit everything into one episode or that this episode was possibly entirely rebooted or scrapped and remade from scratch during its production which caused them to lose a lot of time and/or money in the process or they thought that they could fit everything smoothly into one episode with a good and steady pace but then realized they couldn't do that and didn't have enough time and money to fix it and increase the length of the episode or just straight up make it a two part special and just decided to just roll with it and cram absolutely everything into one 55 minute episode and make the pace extremely quick in order to include everything from the comic miniseries her origin story came from (Invincible presents: Atom Eve #1 and #2).

But overall, despite the fact that it feels rushed, it was still pretty decent, but I personally think that it could have been even better if this special was split into two 45 to 48 minute episodes.

Invincible returns!

Atom Eve is a great prequel episode to season one.

I loved this special episode of Invincible. It's been too long since the first season so while some part of me thinks it's great because the shows back it's actually genuinely really good.. It's a great episode and character development even is it is incredibly depressing and dark. Atom Eve is a interesting character and a fan favourite so it's nice to see her fleshed out even more and adapted well from the Graphic Novel. As usual with season one the animation style is completely flawless and it looks much like the graphic novel. I don't think the show would be as good as it is if it was a live action adaptation.

Are you my mommy?

A buddy of mine bought me the first compendium of the Invincible run (first 47ish issues) and I LOVED all of it and wanted more. I felt the same way after finally watching the first season of the Amazon Prime show; I wanted more! They adapted the look and form so well.

I don't remember reading any solo comics for Atom Eve though, if there even were any. I remember her discussing her story but not much past that and her parents that she never got along with. So as far as I can tell, this is an original story.

And it freakin rocks.

I've been impatiently waiting for Season 2 like everyone else, and this just has me even more impatient. I loved this. It was very entertaining and the action was directed really well in particular. That Highway fight is by far one of the highlights of the entire series. It was legitimately intense, but it also surprisingly depressing and emotional.

This episode ended up being a LOT more depressing and emotional than I expected. We don't get a ton of jokes or one-liners, if any. It's still excellent though. As far as superhero origin stories go, this was so well plotted and made. The voice cast did an excellent job, as is expected at this point.

The only thing that bothered me was the long pauses between character interactions. I have the same issue with the first season of the series and it's somewhat prevalent here as well. It just bugs me.

Other than that, this was extremely well done. Kirkman and co. Are on top form once again in terms of writing and character development. Atom Eve was one of the very best characters in the comic run, and now she's becoming one of the best characters in the Amazon Prime content.

Amazing episode/special. Definitely watch this if you're a fan of the Invincible comics or the show. I really hope they do more origin specials like this!

A little appetizer while waiting for the main course

"Invincible Presents: Atom Eve" expands upon the origin of a character that I feel was a little underutilized over the course of season 2 of Invincible. This special expands upon her origin story with great effect and gives us a bittersweet end to it all. This special is much better than expected and it shows that the writers haven't seem to lose their touch. There is not a moment where it seems our previously established characters are written out of character. This special also provides answers about the true origin of Atom Eve's abilities. This has only made me anticipate season 2 even more and I will definitely revisit this special.

Pretty ordinary superhero origin

Atom Eve

In my opinion, Atom Eve is a very good character from the Invincible series that I have always had sympathy for.

Now here comes her own "movie," which is more like an additional episode of Invincible. I'm a big fan of the series and am happy about any new content.

Unfortunately, viewed as a stand-alone work, this film is rather weak.

Atom Eve's backstory is interesting and the characters and story add some interesting aspects to the series.

But its origin is very basic like in any other superhero film and most of the characters, especially the antagonists, are lame.

It's cool to find out where Atom Eve really comes from and the lore surrounding her wayward "siblings" and her mother is exciting.

The animation is classic and not bad and I am by no means a hater of Invincible animation like many others.

All in all, it remains a fairly ordinary origin that expands the Invincible lore, but as a standalone film it is very basic and ordinary.

The ending with Nolan and Mark is pretty good.

Painfully mediocre story with questionable plot elements until a strong end. Not close to the great quality of the show, and kind of a pointless TV special.

That's something to think about

Samantha was beautiful even as a friend, but going through all that despite the way her childhood was tragic she still got something to prove making her and the invincible the perfect combo for the coming war, it's not going to be easy but something extra is coming to the mix and it's going to be awesome, this was Amazon best yet not coming from a shady back story that will piss you off but, the story line can be altered in a lot of ways coming from comparably other universes not saying but related to the best, other than that the story is bomb like the atomic one no wonder the this part is named by one character that depicts danger and respect at the same time, best yet though I can always wait for invincible season two all the best yet.

Sad and dark.

I like this character in the series she probably one of top 3 favorites at time wrote this so when saw this was like 'cool' let's give it a look, but dame is sad kinda depressing and dark also why does everything always seem to be against fathers especially if straight white anyway would be nice if not always seeming to be demonising fathers all the time because dad in this was a dick and terrible father by far worse in this series to date. Also was hoping this story be more uplifting, hopeful and just joyful fun but nope wasn't also wants with weird art did for her eyes the line underneath looks terrible.

I did like this and found it interesting but don't go into this expecting & hoping for feel good watch because its dark sad and honestly bit depressing her life and what she goes through.

Found end when said what is invincible doing at that time funny interesting and omni face reaction to son when no one looking alsome.

Thank you for this episode special.

Punchy Action Highlights a Conflicting-Depressing Tone

The action sequences in Atom Eve are fantastic, particularly the final battle against the mutants. Watching Eve's younger-inquisitive personality blossom is a joy when she was learning how to use her powers. However, the story is clichéd and I didn't feel myself connecting emotionally to anyone other than feeling bad for Eve's predicament. The special episode reminds viewers over and over how miserable it must be for Eve in Zach Snyder like music video sequences. The surrogate father relationship didn't connect emotionally, and neither did any of the other moments intended to pull at the heartstrings. All of this squeezed into a 50 minute run time makes Atom Eve an amalgamation of overly depressing tones that doesn't work as well as it thinks it does. Atom Eve has moments of fun, shrouded in an unnecessarily depressing origin story that is at odd with Eve's bright personality. Overall, a decent bite sized meal until season 2 hit this November.

A geat standalone prequel

Despite my unfamiliarity with the animated TV series INVINCIBLE I enjoyed this standalone prequel. It tells how young Atom Eve learned about her superpowers while growing up with an adoptive family. It's chock-full of familiar story elements but the animation, voice acting, and sheer kinetic nature of the action provides a fresh take on the superhero genre that's gone stale from recent Marvel and DC bloat.

I'm not sure I want to watch the whole series (Season 2 will arrive shortly) but this one hour special stands on its own and provides a fresh look at the by-now familiar trope of superheroes-that-live-among us.

Amusingly, I watched the first half in Japanese with English subtitles, my default setting for watching animation since I watch so much anime. On a whim I switched to English and found the voice acting to be just as good. Recommended, but not for young children.

Good, Not Great

After Invincible season 1, each and every character was full of potential and ripe for more stories. Giving a solo outing to Atom Eve was one of the best options, as she was one of the strongest and intriguing characters coming out of the chaos. Though I enjoyed this special, I felt it wasn't as groundbreaking as the previous season, an issue I feel with season 2 of the show as well. It gives a great deep look into the life of Atom Eve, which is unfortunately sad for someone that only wants to do good. The animation is incredible and the acting is as good as ever, which is some of the best in a show like this. Invincible: Atom Eve is a thoroughly enjoyable special and fits well, while expanding the world of the show, but fails to meet up to the excellent quality of the first season.

May Amazon show more love to Invincible!!

Very much in line with the first season of Invincible and in the absence of news about the second season, Amazon launched this One Shot focused on the origins of Atom Eve which is really very good.

A raw story, a very interesting character and how she learns about her tragic past little by little.

It follows the tone of the original series and is super violent and with lines worthy of "The Boys" and although it does not completely explode, it becomes a very enjoyable visual experience.

I am not a reader of the comic but beyond the lack of interest that Amazon shows in the series, it is undeniable that the public responds and that each of us is interested in knowing more about this universe.

Hopefully these Spin offs continue to exist while we watch the progress of the mother series and enjoy more and more of this animation for adults that has marked a stage.

"The Goggles, They Do Nothing!"

It took me until well after the second season of Invincible to watch the in-betweeny one-shot "Atom Eve" and it's a little fillery and suffers from an absence of B-plot but the animation is markedly stronger than the core show itself with some of the set pieces here being very beautifully made which is something I've never said of Invincible before. As such, Atom Eve stands as a curious an interesting aside but doesn't add a huge amount to the core story with the perfunctory nature of the villains. The voice acting is, as always, remarkably strong but I think the only takeaway I had was that we need MORE of the core show with THIS level of animation really.

INVINCIBLE: ATOM EVE: An Invincible Prequel Episode

INVINCIBLE: ATOM EVE (2023) was a really great movie ( or prequel episode ) giving much needed / wanted backstory to the titular character, Atom Eve, also known as Samantha Eve Wilkins and her origin story.

"In this special prequel episode, Samantha 'Atom Eve' Wilkins discovers her superpowers as a young girl - and must come to terms with her own sinister origins as she discovers a family she never knew she had."

The movie is entertaining, as well as the fact that it gives much useful backstory to Atom Eve's past, which really helped in expanding her character and giving more depth to the overall series. Recommended to watch for fans of Invincible, superhero shows and animated cartoons.
