Bengali's very own movie. Bengali values, Bengali love, Bengali protest combined with a picture of own culture. In a film full of tense drama.
After a long time I saw Anjan acting so well. The movie is seen only for Anjan's performance. Physical acting along with dialogue. Accompanied by Mamata Shankar. The combined acting takes the whole movie to another level. There was no room for Jesus or Pauli to act. However, I hoped that the director would use a talented actress like Srila Majumdar more. But I am disappointed. The acting of the little girl is quite good.
Many thanks to the director for making the movie for Mrinal Sen.

Palan, is serving as the sequel to Kharij, that was directed by Mrinal Sen, four decades ago. Eerily similar in tones, the film explores the present life of the protagonists in the backdrop of a similar mishap.
The original protagonists of Kharij, played by Anjan Dutta and Mamata Shankar, have reprised their roles here, along with the additional cast of Jisshu Sengupta and Paoli Dam among others, representing the younger generation. Acting has been exceptional, as is expected from this stellar cast but Anjan Dutta's performance has exceeded the rest.
Slow in pace, the first half drags on, puzzling the viewers with its intention. The second half is where the film redeems itself making it a pleasant, although not a very memorable watch in the end.
The film has been deft in its intent of showing the modern society with its problems, but a crisper flow would have made it a more memorable experience. Certain frames, dialogues and actions of the protagonists felt unnecessary.
