With Justice League now in cinemas, DC fans are wondering what’s up next for the franchise. One of the most intriguing projects in the works is Flashpoint, the alt-universe movie starring Ezra Miller, and though we know very little about it at the moment, there’s been a lot of talk about Jeffrey Dean Morgan turning up as an alternate version of Batman in the film, mostly due to his appearance as Thomas Wayne in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Justice League 2 might take some time to get off the ground, but we outline some possible scenarios that could help.

The box office numbers on Justice League are in, and the prognosis isn't good. Not only did what should have been the crown jewel in the Dceu fail to crack $100 million in its opening weekend in America, its final numbers may see it losing between $50 and $100 million for Warner Bros, according to some reports. But just because Justice League is off to a rocky start, it is far from the end of the Dceu.

The Flash movie will adapt one of the most famous and controversial Flash storylines of all time: Flashpoint.

After Justice League, fans are likely to want to see more of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. The Flash movie will adapt, in some form, the Flashpoint story by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert. In it, Barry learns that his mother wasn't murdered by his father, but by an evil speedster named Eobard Thawne. Barry goes back in time to prevent the murder (and thus keep his father out of prison), and when he returns to the present, he finds that time has changed dramatically.

We finally have a release date for Batman: Gotham By Gaslight and those waiting for a physical copy will be able to snag the film beginning February 6th. It is possible to get the film sooner, but that's only for the crowd who wants to own it digitally. Those who don't have a problem with that can pick it up January 23rd.

For those who clicked having no clue what this is, think Batman in the time of Jack The Ripper with a bit of a steampunk vibe. With Justice League now screening for critics ahead of its release next Friday, early reactions are starting to trickle out and while full reviews are still under embargo, it seems that Ezra Miller’s Flash is quickly emerging as a fan favorite and the breakout character of the tentpole. As such, the studio now seems eager to put together Flashpoint and according to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, it’s become a priority project for them.

This is certainly surprising to hear, as not too long ago, we were told they’d pumped the brakes on the pic as they were waiting to see how Justice League would be received. Granted, we’ve known that Warner Bros. have been keen on the idea of bringing the Scarlet Speedster to the silver screen for some time now, but an origin story was probably what we were all expecting – not an adaptation of one of DC Comics’ most definitive tales to have been produced in this decade.

Celebrating a decade of DC Universe Original Movie world premieres in San Diego, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will once again give fans their first look at an all-new animated feature with the presentation of Batman and Harley Quinn on the Friday, July 21, at Comic-Con International.

In Batman and Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet – and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley’s Bff and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman’s patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.

The world premiere of Batman and Harley Quinn will include a post-screening panel discussion among available members of the core cast and filmmaking team. The latest DC animated film features a stellar voice cast led by Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) reprising his role as the Dark Knight, alongside Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) making her debut as the irrepressible Harley Quinn. Loren Lester, the voice of Robin in Batman: The Animated Series, returns as Nightwing. It's been awhile since I've been truly excited about any of the animated films being developed by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. I really haven't been too impressed with what they've been doing recently, but Batman and Harley Quinn looks like it could be great. I liked what I saw in the first trailer that was released, especially the fact that it was done in the same art style as Batman: The Animated Series. This is also an original story that was developed by Bruce Timm.

Another DC Universe Original Movie is on its way, and this one looks like one that is going to put Batman through the ringer. Batman and Harley Quinn has the Dark Knight and Nightwing teaming up with Harley Quinn of all people.

When Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) aim to save the planet, largely by getting rid of people, and Batman and Nightwing enlist Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy’s friend, and frequent partner-in-crime. As you might imagine, Harley isn’t exactly cut out for a straight-forward partnership that has her on the right side of things.

Flashpoint is the new name for The Flash movie, it's been confirmed...

It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend that the Flash movie is now called Flashpoint and will adapt Geoff Johns' famous and controversial storyline, which saw Barry Allen go back in time to save his mother from being killed by Reverse-Flash. The change had huge ramifications for the future of the DC Universe, altering many things and eventually leading to a brand new timeline known as the New 52 in the comics.

While that's unlikely to happen here, it could allow for a refresh of some of the more controversial elements of the Dceu. More importantly, though, this opens the door to a significant number of potential superheroic guest stars.

They've just announced that they're moving forward with their Batman And Harley Quinn film in earnest by tapping director Sam Lie to take charge of the project. He's previously worked on Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, 2016's unfortunate misstep The Killing Joke, and Justice League Vs Teen Titans under their watchful eye, so it looks like it'll be a fairly smooth process all in all.

While the fanboys battle it out on Facebook and Twitter about which cinematic universe is better, there’s a whole bunch of animated comic book movies waiting around to be watched. Sure, some of them, such as Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, have garnered critical acclaim and legendary status, but many have also gone under the radar in a quiet fashion. I’m willing to bet that there’s more than a handful that you’ve probably never even heard about.

It’s time to change this though, and I’ve taken it upon myself to go through my video collection and pick out some of the best comic book-related films that you might’ve missed over the years. In some cases, these animated showcases are even better than the live-screen adaptations of the same characters. So, put that in your pipe.

Sex and violence gets headlines, but it sure doesn't guarantee a good movie. Warner Bros. Animation comes up woefully short in their R-rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's classic comic, Batman: The Killing Joke. The disturbing origin story of the Joker is muddled with soap opera level melodrama. Batgirl is conceptualized as smitten and unsophisticated. This was a poor arc to introduce in the boundary breaking narrative of her character. An opportunity was wasted to tell this grim tale with gravitas.

The Killing Joke opens with Barbara Gordon (Tara Strong) three years into her 'relationship' with Batman (Kevin Conroy). She works as a librarian by day, shunning suitors, and dishing to her gay bestie/coworker. She's infatuated with her yoga teacher, aka the Dark Knight, who likes to be in control. She's fine with that, most of the time. They haven't gone all the way yet. It's not that kind of relationship,...

According to VancouverFilm.Net, actor Grant Gustin aka 'Barry Allen'/'The Flash" has revealed the title of the first Season 3 episode of the series,  premiering October 6, 2016 on The CW:

Gustin has revealed the title as "Flashpoint".

"Flashpoint" was also the title of an 'alternate timeline' event series published by DC Comics (2011) leading into DC's 'New 52' relaunch. 

The event series was also adapted into the animated feature, "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox" (2013).

While 'Arrow' (Stephen Amell) previously appeared on "The Flash", more DC Comics characters are anticipated to guest-star in the new season including 'Supergirl' (Melissa Benoist) and 'Superman' (Tyler Hoechlin).

Not long after The Flash concluded its second season, many took to social media saying the shocking finale hit them in what the kids are calling “the feels” these days. I too was surprised to see the show’s producers make the choice they did, at least at first, but when you have access to a veritable treasure trove when it comes to source material, why not take advantage?

If you aren’t up to speed and don’t mind being spoiled, the twist I’m referring to saw Barry Allen once again travel back to the night of his mother’s murder, only this time he prevented the Reverse Flash from delivering the killing blow, as opposed to letting fate take its course as he did at the end of the first season.

While some may see this as a step backward, comic book fans know exactly where this...

DC/WB is currently in reconstruction mode, launching their new DC Film Division under Geoff Johns, who wants to bring “hope and optimism” back to the Dceu. Therefore, this is a good time to look back on one of DC/WB’s recent missteps and how they could have benefited from an examination of their earlier, lighter projects. We’re going to examine how Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice could have been improved by studying the 1997 animated film The Batman/Superman Movie: World’s Finest.

The Batman/Superman Movie: World’s Finest began as a 3-part episode of Superman: The Animated Series. It was released on DVD as a combined one-hour film in 1997. This excellent story has a strong 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as opposed to the pitiful 28% score that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received. World’s Finest was written by Alan Burnett, who wrote many of DC’s best animated movies, including Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Superman Unbound, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and others. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was directed by Zack Snyder, who made Watchmen, Sucker Punch and Man of Steel.

So why is World’s Finest better than Dawn of Justice and what can it teach DC during their revamp period? First of all, the makers of World’s Finest realized that the key to a great Batman and Superman story is to focus on their differences. They don't physically fight but the drama comes from contrasting their opposite natures, techniques and viewpoints.

The two heroes have often been described as “two sides of the same coin”. They are both brave costumed super heroes but in most ways, they are opposites. This does not merely refer to the fact that Superman has unlimited strength and numerous super powers while Batman is just an incredibly well-trained and brilliant human man. They also have different skills. For instance, Superman's senses enable him to read information directly from machines and, with careful usage of his heat vision, he can even reprogram machines. Batman is a genius polymath, as well as being a detective, escapologist, linguist, tactician and master of disguise.

Their greatest difference is in their outlook and attitude. Superman is traditionally optimistic and positive, inspiring hope to the world. He sees the best in people and tries to be an example, always motivated by the desire to help people and prevent tragedies. Batman is a dark and grim hero with a deeply personal vendetta against criminals. Although he has a great love for humanity, his life is rooted in the dark side of human nature. He understands the evil inherent in the human mind in a way Superman never could. In essence, Superman sees the victims while Batman sees the criminals.

When the 1990s versions of Superman and Batman look at each other, they see what they try hard to avoid in their own lives. Superman sees a man so locked into his obsessive behavior that he has no real connection to the world; Batman sees an overconfident man with great power but no plan (Superman reacts but does not plan.) However, they also see what they are personally missing. Superman admires Batman’s self-made abilities while Batman sees Superman’s amazing powers, which could certainly be handy in his quest to save Gotham city from its epidemic of crime. Each has a certain amount of envy toward the other.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the differences between the two are not very clear. Both are grim, glum, angst-ridden figures who see their heroic roles as a burden. They will both kill. Neither is trusted by the people or by the government. Neither ever smiles. They are both easily manipulated and overly quick to fight. There isn’t much difference between them at all. Add to that the fact that Zack Snyder decreed they shouldn’t talk much because “Guys in super hero costumes trying to act serious looks ridiculous”. The result was all action but no drama, characterization or interesting interactions.

Another good aspect of World’s Finest is that Lois Lane was utilized so much better. She adds an extra layer of competition between the two heroes when she develops a crush on Bruce Wayne. Although she is in love with Superman, she realizes that he will always have to put the good of the world ahead of her. Thus, when handsome Bruce Wayne arrives and shows an interest in her, she quickly becomes drawn to him. This Lois displays an attraction to Alpha Males, like the mighty Superman and the rich and powerful Bruce Wayne. Bruce begins by using Lois as a source of information to learn more about Superman but he comes to actually like her fiery, feisty personality and beauty. Clark has to watch while his rival romances the woman he secretly loves. In Dawn of Justice, Lois really has no purpose. She’s there because she’s expected to be there. Her investigation in the movie leads to nothing. When she stupidly tosses the Kryptonite spear into the well, it’s only done to put her in peril at an inopportune moment.

The villains are also much better in World’s Finest. Lex Luthor is written as cool., classy, authoritative and insidious. The Joker is wild and funny, creating chaos for both profit and for fun. The battle between their sidekicks Harley Quinn and Mercy is a fun moment. In Dawn of Justice, Lex Luthor is portrayed as a combination of Luthor and the Joker. He is rich and influential but also demented and sadistically psychotic. Mercy is killed off before she gets a chance to make an impression, and Doomsday is wasted in the final half hour of the film. The “Doomsday/Death of Superman” storyline could have been a whole movie by itself but instead it’s squeezed into a subplot. The villains in World’s Finest get sufficient screen time and remain true to their source material.

The story holds together much better in World’s Finest. The plot is linear and logical and makes sense. The bad guys have clear agendas and their actions jibe with what they want. Even the Joker, crazy as he is, remains consistent. In Dawn of Justice, Luthor’s plans and motivations seem to randomly change scene-by-scene. Unlike World’s Finest, which is trying to tell a story about the meeting of two heroes, Dawn of Justice is a two-and-a-half-hour composite trailer, interested in World Building and setting up future Dceu films, rather than being a coherent movie.

World’s Finest is about heroes learning a lesson. The duo quickly realize that their pointless competition is not useful and that each of them has something useful to offer in a partnership, even a temporary one. They learn the lesson that the villains could not learn. Luthor and the Joker are too petty to ever get along and eventually turn on each other. Superman and Batman learn to respect each other and start to work together. They even display some teamwork. Clark and Bruce part on good terms. In Dawn of Justice, Batman and Superman spend most of the movie in a contrived blood feud, which abruptly ends when they realize that their mothers have the same name. Then they join Wonder Woman in fighting Doomsday and Superman dies. There is no logical build or dramatic narrative that leads to any development in their relationship. Its ultimately unsatisfying and hollow.

World’s Finest gets it all right, including the tone, which is sufficiently hopeful while still being serious. Burnett’s script has heart and soul. The characters are handled properly and the narrative is well structured. Both the villains and supporting cast are fully-formed characters, not caricatures. Everything is done so much better than in Dawn of Justice.

If Geoff Johns and the new DC Film Division want a blueprint to look at for how they should set up the Dceu, they could do a lot worse than studying The Batman/Superman Movie: World’s Finest. It’s everything Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice should have been, but wasn’t. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth the effort to find.

Home Entertainment has accepted the MPAA’s “R” rating for its upcoming animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, choosing to remain true to the landmark DC Comics graphic novel’s violent, controversial story, and making the film the first non-pg/PG-13 rated movie in the nine-year history of the DC Universe Original Movie franchise.

Batman: The Killing Joke, one of the best-selling graphic novels in history, tells the tale of The Joker’s origin story – from his humble beginnings as a struggling comic, to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever. Actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprise their Batman: The Animated Series roles as Batman and The Joker, respectively.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is chocked full of divisive moments that fans are still discussing, following its release on March 25. One of these scenes is known as the "Knightmare" sequence, which most assumed were bizarre dreams that Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) is having, featuring our first look at Ezra Miller as The Flash, along with a huge Easter Egg: Darkseid's massive Omega symbol. We'll have to wait and see how these sequences truely play into the story that continues with Justice League Part 1. But Jay Oliva, who served as a concept artist on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and has directed several DC animated movies like Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, has now shed some light on this sequence during an appearance on the Hall of Justice Podcast. If you haven’t been paying attention, DC Comics have been releasing some stellar animated features in the direct-to-disc market, for those of us that want a little more in between the pages of comics, and what makes it to theaters. Some great examples of this would be The Dark Knight Returns, and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Coming soon, would be Batman: Assault On Arkham, which, if it follows suit with the other DC animated films being released lately, I have high hopes. Son Of Batman, while not quite as good as something like The Dark Knight Returns, is still a highly entertaining example of animated super hero action. It’s based on the graphic novel Batman And Son by Grant Morrison. And, while it does change a few things up, it remains fairly similar to the source material. A strong antagonist makes for the most compelling stories. Especially in the world of superpowered heroes, a villain needs to work on many different levels or the movie falls flat. Thanks to EW, we get to meet the seventh and final major new character in Disney Xd’s Star Wars Rebels. The character is a Twi’lek named Hera Syndulla, pilot and leader of the rebel Ghost crew. She is played by actress Vanessa Marshall, who voiced Wonder Woman in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and Black Canary in the Young Justice series.

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, which spans about two decades.

LucasFilm has released a new featurette introducing the seventh and final major character from Star Wars Rebels, Hera, voiced by Vanessa Marshall. This character is a Twi'lek, an alien race readily identified by their green "head tails" known as "lekku." She pilots a ship dubbed Ghost, leading this band of rebels through the galaxy. Dave Filoni said that Hera is most certainly the character who keeps this group of rebels together.
