As we all know, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) will make her big screen debut in 2019 – but what about the character who adopted her old mantle of Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan?
The teenage Inhuman (well, she’s actually a human with Inhuman traits….but we won’t get into that here) has become a fairly popular hero since her introduction back in 2013, and the fact that she also happens to be a Muslim Pakistani American has led to many fans calling for a live-action adaptation sooner rather than later, given the current climate. In the past few years, there’s been a lot in the way of rumors and speculation pointing to the character getting her own television show, but so far, nothing’s materialized. It doesn’t look like that’ll change anytime soon, either.
Though some were hoping to see Ms. Marvel introduced in Inhumans, which would make some sense since,...

Agent Carter. Agents of Shield. Inhumans. It seems there'll be a fourth (and possibly more) live-action Marvel television show coming to ABC soon, per Executive VP of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb.

Though Marvel can seemingly do no wrong on the big screen – well, for the most part – their efforts on television are a different story. Sure, shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones are nearly flawless, but the studio’s also put out a lot of underwhelming material lately, including the recently released Inhumans, which staged its IMAX premiere this past weekend and will arrive on the small screen towards the end of the month.
That was just the latest in what’s becoming a long line of misses, though, as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has struggled almost since day one, Agent Carter only made it to two seasons and recent Netflix series like Iron Fist and even The Defenders to some extent, were seriously underwhelming. Despite all of this, Marvel seems intent on pushing forward with their television projects – especially those on ABC.

This past weekend saw the fairly quiet release of the first couple episodes of Marvel’s The Inhumans onto IMAX. The presentation only made around $1.5 million domestically, and critically, these episodes were raked over the coals by most outlets.
This doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise for a lot of us who saw plenty to criticize based on the trailers. Between the cheap-looking sets, shoddy premise, and questionable writing (again, all based on the trailers), it seemed like a far shot that this would even compare to the likes of the Marvel Netflix series in terms of quality. However, what may come as a surprise is that despite the criticism and soft IMAX response, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb is looking back fondly on this experience, telling Cbr:

With everything Marvel has on television, and it's a lot -- 14 series across 5 networks -- plus growing concerns about viewer fatigue, the big question is why the Inhumans (and why now)? Early reviews of Marvel's Inhumans have been less than kind, suggesting that the series may not survive its first season (ABC is slotting it on Fridays, typically a death slot). Marvel is as opaque as any other entertainment organization, so Cbr went looking for answers but they came away with more questions, unfortunately.
As we like to say at Lrm, there are only a finite number of fans out there (and a limited number of hours per week). Considering that most of the well-known A and B-list heroes were already committed to film and TV franchises, the odds were high that the Inhumans could break through and capture a viable audience. Netflix’s Stranger Things continues to hit us fans with heavy doses of nostalgia as we are treated with another great crossover poster in preparation for the second season premiere this October. The poster comes to us via the Stranger Things Twitter account and pays homage to Firestarter, a classic 80s film that was based off of a Stephen King novel of the same name and starred Drew Barrymore. In the poster, Millie Brown’s Eleven, replaces Drew Barrymore’s character, Charlie. The fire in the original poster is replaced with a starry sky, that in a way reminds me of the show’s first episode. You can see the poster below.

Most people don’t agree on a lot of things these days. in today’s political climate, conservatives and liberals are finding themselves at increasingly distant ends of the spectrum. However, no matter where you find yourself in terms of your political opinions, there’s a good chance that you hated the first two Inhumans trailers.
Personally, I found the first trailer to be completely abysmal, and while the second one was substantially better, it still didn’t look like it was selling anything more than a standard network TV show. Given that ABC is looking to premiere the show in IMAX, the show itself seemed like a bad representation of the format.
While at a TV Critics Association panel, Jeph Loeb was asked whether or not the show turned out as well as he’d hoped. His response was…puzzling:

Raw, riveting and relentlessly compelling, Marvel’s Jessica Jones: The Complete First Season ignites a firestorm of suspense cloaked in the haze of a noir-inspired slow burn. Marvel Television has had amazing growth in recent years. You need look no further than their growing list of shows across various networks that include ABC, Netflix, Fox, Freeform, and FX (and yes, this includes their partnerships with Fox like Legion and The Gifted). Back in the mid-2000s, superhero shows were pretty hard to come by. You had some like Smallville, but on the whole, they were an investment that not all studios thought would pay off. The closest thing we had to the ecosystem we have now was the show Heroes, which quickly went downhill after its first season.
Needless to say, things are looking much better for superhero properties, and Marvel TV — which has 14 series at various stages of production — is undoubtedly a big part of that. However, if you’re this writer, the stuff that’s been truly interesting from the studio has been what they...

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen quite a few images from the Hawaii set of Marvel and ABC’s Inhumans find their way online, providing fans with first glimpses of several of the main characters we’ll be meeting when the series kicks off this September. Though the likes of Black Bolt, Medusa and Gorgon did somewhat resemble their comic book counterparts in terms of costume colors, many took issue with how… well, how human most of them looked. As it turns out, though, there might well be a reasonable explanation for this.
ABC has released a brief, but revealing new plot synopsis for the show, which makes it very clear that Black Bolt and the other members of the Royal Family will be relocating to earth almost immediately after the pilot gets underway. This most likely explains why the characters are garbed in more civilian-looking attire in the photos.

Marvel’s upcoming series Inhumans has just cast one of its lead actresses. Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount has been cast in the lead role of Black Bolt in Marvel's upcoming cosmic superhero series The Inhumans. Black Bolt is the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, who has a voice that's so powerful the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
For years Vin Diesel was linked to this role when Marvel was making the movie. With this TV series happening now, though, I don't think we'll be seeing that movie anytime soon, if ever.

The Welsh actor, best known for playing the sadistic bastard Ramsay Bolton on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” has been cast in “Marvel’s Inhumans” for ABC. He’ll play the ambitious, clever and charming Maximus, who covets his brother Black Bolt’s crown in Attilan.

Different from the Marvel’s universe’s mutants, the Inhumans are a race of superhumans who first developed unique powers in ancient times thanks to some genetic tinkering. They have a society of their own that has thrived in seclusion from the rest of humanity. Their culture follows a caste system and includes a Royal Family, of which Maximus and Black Bolt are members.

Iwan Rheon was announced to play Black Bolts's brother, Maximus the Mad, in the TV series The Inhumans, and what a great choice if you are looking for a psychotic killer. You know him best as Ramsay Bolton/Snow in Game of Thrones, the castration expert and torturer of Theon Greyjoy.
Oh yes, this makes me happy. Maximus is my favorite Inhuman, and one could consider him with Batman level intellect combined with some form of mind control. Let us take note, he is not necessarily evil. But he does believe that the Inhumans are the next level of species, and should rule the planet with disregard to any human life. He kind of reminds me of oldschool Magneto.
For awhile now, we have been dealing with the Inhumans in the show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the actual royal family has not yet been referenced, presumably because they were saving them for their own show.

Marvel has cast their leading man in their upcoming ambitious series Inhumans. Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon has been cast in the role of Maximus in the series. Thanks to THR, we have some details on the version of the character in the series, saying:
Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the eight-episode straight-to-series drama, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
In a statement, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said:
"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board," Marvel TV head Loeb said.

Fans still have another few years of Marvel's Phase 3 lineup, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5), Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7) and Thor: Ragnarok (November 3) hitting theaters this year, but many are already looking ahead to Phase 4. While the titles have not been announced yet, the studio has set three release dates for the year 2020 (May 1, July 10, November 6), which will represent the studio's first Phase 4 movies. There has been a rumor that Namor the Sub-Mariner may be one of those movies, which may actually be happening sooner than we think, if a new rumor is to be believed.
Reel News Hawaii reports that the "buzz around the island" is that two aquatic superheroes may be gearing up to shoot in Hawaii soon, Warner Bros.' Aquaman and Marvel's Namor the Sub-Mariner. Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed that Namor the Sub-Mariner is even happening, but, while promoting Captain America: Civil War, screenwriter Stephen McFeely stated that,...

For a long time, it was unclear which studio actually owned the rights to Namor, but last year Marvel Cco Joe Quesada finally seemed to clear things up once and for all: The Savage Sub-Mariner is under the Marvel Studios umbrella. Since then, however, we haven't really had any indication that they had plans for the character, but a new rumor doing the rounds indicates that this may be about to change. Following last week's news that The Inhumans was scheduled to film on their shores at a new Marvel studio in Oahu, Reel News Hawaii now reckon there are also plans for a live-action Namor project. Marvel has wasted no time in filling out its cast for the upcoming Cloak and Dagger series. Barely two weeks have passed since we caught wind of Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph securing the coveted title roles, but today brings confirmation that the studio has now filled out the rest of the roster with six new series regulars.
Ordered straight to series last April, Marvel and Freeform’s live-action adaptation chronicles the interracial and suitably superheroic romance between Cloak and Dagger (Aka Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen), who will be played by Joseph and Holt, respectively.
In terms of those new recruits, Andrea Roth (Rescue Me) will play the part of Melissa Bowen. Mother to Tandy, Roth’s character is considered the eternal optimist, despite the struggles to adapt to her new existence. On the other side of the coin, Gloria Reuben (Mr. Robot) is Adina Johnson, Tyrone’s mom.

Marvel Studios initially announced their plans for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2014. For the most part, they have stuck to that plan but there has been some shifting around, like the inclusion of Spider-Man: Homecoming, for example. Recently, it was announced that Inhumans was going to be made into a TV show, meaning that the movie, which was going to be one of the closing events in Phase 3, is all but scrapped. The Inhumans TV show, on the other hand, is moving full-steam ahead and they now have a director for the first two episodes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Roel Reine will be tackling the first two episodes of The Inhumans, which are going to be shot in IMAX and will be screened in theaters over Labor Day weekend upon their debut. While Marvel is currently doing some of their most impressive work to date over on Netflix, they’ve yet to really hit their stride on network television. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted on ABC back in 2013 and has struggled with ratings ever since, and Agent Carter, which starred fan-favorite character Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), only lasted two seasons before getting the axe.
Of course, there’s also Damage Control and Most Wanted. The former, which is a sitcom following a “Marvel cleaning crew who specializes in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from super hero conflicts,” has unfortunately still not come to fruition. Well, it’s 2017. The very first day. It’s the time of year when folks look backwards into what has been, and try to give it some perspective and look forward to what may come. It’s also when some folks make resolution of what they’re going to do differently now that they have a clean slate. I don’t. It’s not that I don’t have many faults to correct (I do) but I know I won’t even remember them in a week or so, let alone keep them.
What I’m going to do is look forward, not with predictions, but what I would like to see in the coming year in pop culture.
I’d like to see the Fantastic Four published again— but only if Marvel remembers what they’re about. This isn’t just a team, it’s a family. You can...

Although some fans have been rather vocal regarding their disappointment about The Inhumans project being switched from it's McU Phase 4 slot to a Fall 2017 television series, there is really no reason to be peeved. It was the best thing they could have done, and we’re going to tell you why.
There has been some complaining done by a segment of fandom since the announcement of the Inhumans TV series. Most of the anger is aimed at Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, (The man in charge of all their movies) who seemed to have little interest in the Inhumans as characters and postponed their planned film indefinitely. Now the Inhumans are under the control of Jeph Loeb (the man in charge of Marvel’s television properties) who answers directly to Isaac Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel. (Feige answers directly to Disney, not Perlmutter who Feige reportedly does not get along with.

When Marvel Studios unveiled Marvel Phase 3 back in 2014, one of the final movies in this lineup was Inhumans. The sci-fi superhero adventure was originally slated for a November 2, 2018 release, before being pushed to July 12, 2019 and then being "delayed indefinitely" back in April. Earlier this week, Marvel made the surprise announcement that Inhumans will now become an ABC TV series. But fans shouldn't expect one of the long-rumored cast members, Vin Diesel, starring in the small screen version.
Earlier this year, Vin Diesel hinted that, even though he lends his voice to Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, he could still "totally be something else," and portray a difference Marvel character. While he didn't mention the character by name, many fans thought he might be referring to Black Bolt. Now that Inhumans is making the transition to the small screen, fans are still wondering if Vin Diesel still may portray Black Bolt.
