Initially when I sat down to watch "Seeds", I had never heard about the movie, and reading the synopsis and seeing it was about an influencer, I must admit that I figured this would be a lousy movie. I absolutely loathe social media influencers, as it is nothing more than a fancy way of saying 'freeloader'. But still, as I hadn't already seen the movie from writer and director Kaniehtiio Horn, I opted to give it a fair chance.
Another thing that sort of was an ill-omen here was the fact that the movie was written, directed and starring one and the same person, Kaniehtiio Horn. Usually movies that have a single person filling those three roles tends to be utter rubbish, so the movie certainly had the cards stacked against it. But again, I opted to give the movie a fair chance and the benefit of the doubt.
The storyline in the movie was an insane swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me. Even at 60 minutes into the 83 minute runtime, I have to admit that I still hadn't seen a shred of horror. In fact, I didn't really understand the narrative, and I don't understand the importance or meaning of the seeds that the 'bad guys' were after.
The only familiar face on the screen, for me at least, was actor Graham Greene. The acting performances in the movie were fair, no doubt about that.
I was not entertained by "Seeds", and this is definitely not a movie that I will recommend to horror movie fans. Nor is it a movie that I will ever spend time watching a second time.
My rating of "Seeds" lands on a three out of ten stars.
