If I wanted to live in a TV series, I wanted to live in this TV series, in this era. There are very few works that convey their own culture by endearing it to other cultures. They succeeded. Maybe the first 6 episodes of the mother character could have been conveyed better. It has its shortcomings, but it is a really difficult job... It is difficult to tell two intertwined stories... If the theater scenes were a little more meaningful, if there was integrity there, it would be a highly lasting work. But still, his originality and acting deserve praise. The television circuit could have been extended a little longer, but they wanted to focus on the stage. But the main character's outbursts are on point...
We want it to be successful overall. The art design is beautiful...there is effort and effort.
Acting within acting, drama within drama. It still amazes me when I watch it. This is the only kdrama I've watched that presents a theatrical performance like this. The main story is interesting despite its fairly simple premise. What's amazing is the show, I really enjoyed every episode that had the show. This is actually still foreign to me, but interesting, I even searched what Gukgeuk is on youtube. The actors in acting, it was very difficult but they did it well. The main actor sang very well and his husky voice was very natural, it didn't sound fake, it makes me wonder how did she do it? Anyway, I like it.

Kim Taeri once again shows her quality, Establishing herself as an actress whose NEVER FAIL DRAMA.
Since the Trailer, Jeongnyeon has radiated the aura of a MASTERPIECE.
And sure enough After the first episode aired, Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born seemed to be a magnet to watch it again and again while waiting for the next episode.
Kim Taeri's sing Pansori is amazing, at first I thought it was lipsync, but it turns out I was wrong, KIM TAERI SINGS ALL THAT SONGS WITH HER OWN VOICE! It was proven after I watched the behind-the-scenes video of making this drama. I also heard that she studied and practiced for 3 years to sing Pansori, also practiced dancing, even visit Mokpo to learn dialects in preparation for her role as a shabby village girl like a potato who dreams of becoming a Shining Star "Prince" in new world named Yeosong Gukgeuk.
It's really amazing, this is a different level of hard work.

A delightful intro to a form of theater new to me, and it's addictive. My next question is where do I find more of it to watch from here in New England ... and with subtitles.
My major beef is that there wasn't more of the actual Pansori performances in the early segments, although I understand that would've disrupted the narrative.
However, even though this is a Disney-esque movie about a talented teen who bridges adversities into success, this production goes far deeper into performance, and performance preparation, than most such movies, and I am grateful for that.
The personal story at the heart of the narrative is good enough, and the performances keep the story affecting. Notwithstanding the previous reviewer's unaccountable grumpiness, the motives of the key characters are transparent. This is a genre movie (Disney again) but the historical setting and Pansori subject matter elevate it; the performances and story keep your interest with a bit of acceptable melodrama along the way.

Kim Taeri once again proving herself as quality guarantee of all the dramas he has played in. Latest Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born.
A drama that I never get bored of watching.
In fact, films with cultural content from other countries already make me bored, let alone a 12-episode series. But it's different with Jeongnyeon, I even wait for it to air every week with enthusiasm. This drama looks luxurious, even matching the quality of a movie. I wonder how the director directs roles within roles, stories within stories, dramas within dramas. It's something great, I've never seen anything like this before.
About acting? There is no doubt when Kim Taeri's name is leading. His acting is already in Daesang level. The Baeksang judges will no longer have to bother thinking about who will win the Daesang because Kim Taeri is there. And of course all the cast did great things too.
Shin Yeeun, Ramiran, Jung Eunchae, Kim Yoonhye, I think they're amazing here. Not just the main cast, Even the girl who played Hong Juran (I don't know her name) She's great, even though she seems like she's still a rookie, but her great acting can match Taeri.
For sure, Jeongnyeon is a masterpiece. And Best drama of the year.
It contains the beauty and unique charm of Korean culture, packaged in a fun and meaningful way.
