Actor Simon Fisher-Becker, whose work included roles in the Doctor Who and Harry Potter franchises, has passed away. He was 63 years old.

Per Deadline, Fisher-Becker's husband announced the actor's death on social media in a post that noted, "I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away." The news was subsequently confirmed by his agent. No additional information was shared about the circumstances of Fisher-Becker's passing, such as a cause of death.

"Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing. I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Maldovar in BBC’s Doctor Who," Jaffrey Management agent Kim Barry said in a statement. "Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious and interested in everyone.

Walters Media Group has secured the film rights to The Third Parent, the well-known creepypasta story by Elias Witherow. The adaptation will be the feature debut of producer David Michaels, who will both write and direct the film.

Set during a 4th of July celebration, the story follows Tommy Taffy, a menacing figure who disguises himself as human to infiltrate a suburban neighborhood. Once inside, he imposes an authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family, turning their world into a nightmare.

“I am thrilled to develop Elias Witherow’s popular horror IP into an intense, scary movie experience,” said producer Gary Michael Walters. “Tommy Taffy has the potential to be the next iconic horror villain, and David Michaels has an incredible vision to bring this property to life.”

Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide distribution rights to BuzzFeed Studios’ documentary “Brother Orange.”

The doc follows the story of Matt Stopera, a BuzzFeed founding editor, whose life takes an unexpected turn when his stolen phone becomes the catalyst for a 2015 BuzzFeed article that went viral. The film chronicles how Stopera tracks down ‘Brother Orange,’ a.k.a. Li Hongjun, who’s selfies taken next to orange trees begin appearing on the reporter’s ‘ iCloud feed a year after his phone was stolen.

Hongjun, who lives in China, ended up with Stopera’s stolen phone. The story received over 100 million views on social media, including over 70 million shares on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform.

In 2016, Variety reported that Jim Parsons was in talks to star as Stopera in the Warner Bros. narrative adaptation of the “Brother Orange” article, which never came to fruition.

Dolly Parton has teamed up with CBS to present the “Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala” special which is slated to premiere on CBS Network and on Paramount+ on Feb. 21 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. The special will air live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs.

The two-hour variety special will not only feature a runway of doggy talent sporting recreations of Parton’s most iconic ensembles and embellished looks from Dolly’s Doggy Parton pet line, but will also show exclusive performances of Parton’s hits including “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Puppy Love” and “Jolene,” from the country icon and country stars Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Chris Janson and Kc of Kc of the Sunshine Band.

Adam Fogelson is replacing Joe Drake as chair of Lionsgate’s motion picture group.

Drake reportedly initiated the transition and will be working with Fogelson over the coming months on succession plans. Drake, who was named co-chair of Lionsgate in 2017, will be leaving the company. He’s departing after leading the studio to its first billion-dollar year since 2019, thanks to commercial winners like “John Wick: Chapter 4” and “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”

“Despite unprecedented disruption over the last few years, we built a team that thrived throughout and achieved everything I could have imagined at Lionsgate,’ Drake said in a statement. “Having worked side by side with Adam for the past 18 months, he is the perfect choice to lead the motion picture group forward to even greater heights.”

The Flash star Grant Gustin, who portrayed the titular Scarlet Speedster in all nine seasons of the Arrowverse show, has confirmed that he was never approached about appearing in the Ezra Miller-led The Flash movie.

During a panel at GalaxyCon Columbus 2023 (via Instagram), Gustin addressed his absence from the DC Extended Universe project. "Never, at least, no one officially ever called me in as far as I know. My reps never told me if they did. So yeah, no one ever reached out to me about the movie," the actor revealed to those in attendance. Although Gustin never appeared in The Flash (much to the displeasure of the DC fandom), his and Miller's respective Scarlet Speedsters still managed to cross paths with one another in the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event in 2020.

Leighton Meester and Robbie Amell play exes with a vendetta in the upcoming Amazon Freevee rom-com “EXmas,” except unlike other former flames, ex-fiancés Ali (Meester) and Graham (Amell) are dealing with their tensions under the same roof.

In an exclusive clip shared with TheWrap, Ali and Graham weather the cold while fishing in a lodge with Graham’s father and brother when Graham’s dad asks the pair if they have been dating since breaking up.

“Everyone,” Graham replies, adding that he’s “not discriminating against any dating app” and is “going head-first.”

“Wow, that’s disgusting,” Ali responds in the clip.

As the group shivers in the freezing temperatures, Ali asks the family to move the heater closer to her, to which Graham responds “no, you don’t have to do that — it’s fine where it is.”

Lucy Hale is set to star in F*** Mary Kill, an action-comedy and the latest feature from Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios.

Directed by Laura Murphy and written by Ivan Diaz and Meghan Brown, the film follows a true-crime junkie in Boulder, Colo. who must determine which of the three guys she’s dating is her f*ckboy, which is marriage material, and which is the Swipe Right Killer who has been terrorizing the city and wants to murder her.

Alongside Hale, the film, which wrapped pre-strike, also stars Virginia Gardner, Jedidiah Goodacre, Brendan Moran, Samer Salem, Brooke Nevin, and Bethany Brown.

Since rejoining the Hollywood studio in late 2017 as a longtime lieutenant to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake, Lee-Kim has generated nearly $1 billion in sales and will continue to head the international licensing of Lionsgate’s first-run movies and handle sales to expanding multi-platform and global direct-to-streaming business.
