The 10 Best Episodes Of Gilligan's Island Ranked
Image
For all its popularity, Sherwood Schwartz's CBS comedy classic "Gilligan's Island" is a very strange waterfowl in the sitcom pond. It combines what's effectively a live-action cartoon with a series of morality plays hidden inside outlandish stories that demand viewers grab disbelief by the neck and hoist it out of their TV room. On top of that, all of this is acted out by characters that were inspired by the seven deadly sins.

From 1964 to 1967, the toil and turmoil of the S.S. Minnow survivors offered viewers a regular dose of Robinson Crusoe antics mixed with a hefty dose of slapstick and a generous spoonful of genuine depth. Despite the series' comparatively short life, this (along with copious reruns) was more than enough to earn it a reputation as one of the best shows of the 1960s.

"Gilligan's Island" ran for three extremely eventful seasons that involved so many...

Duster Season 1 Episode 2 Review: Secrets, Suede, and the Saint of Slippery Lanes
Image
If Episode 1 blew the dust off, Duster Season 1 Episode 2 stomps on the gas pedal with blue suede shoes, bowling alley brawls, and a dirty cop named Groomes who just won’t die.

Duster continues to be a glorious mess of vintage action movie chaos — unserious in all the right ways and unapologetically rooted in ’70s pulp.

Josh Holloway is still an absolute dreamboat in patchwork leather, and his world is as slick and dangerous as the soles on his brand-new Elvis collectibles. Nothing about this show asks to be taken seriously — and that’s precisely what makes it so damn watchable.

(James Van Evers/Max ) A Jim Ellis Two-Step: Between a Rock and a Bloodstain

We open with Jim in the desert, trying to bury a body — the shovel breaks, a car pulls up. It’s just another Wednesday in Arizona.

Fifteen hours earlier, Jim was in bed with a...

Top 10 Oscars Best Actor winners ranked
Image
Robert De Niro won his second Oscar in 1981 for playing a boxing champ in Raging Bull. And now he has been chosen as the champ of all actors.

His performance for the Martin Scorsese film from 1980 has been voted the greatest Oscar Best Actor winner ever, according to a Gold Derby ballot cast by 21 of our film experts, critics, and editors, who ranked all 97 male leading actors.

Anthony Hopkins ranked second for The Silence of the Lambs (1991), with Marlon Brando following in third for The Godfather (1972). Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood (2007), and Gregory Peck for To Kill a Mockingbird (1961) rounded out the top five.

At the bottom of the list of the Best Actor winners is Warner Baxter for In Old Arizona (1928). Just above that film performance in the rankings are George Arliss in Disraeli (1929), Lionel Barrymore for A Free Soul (1930), Paul Lukas for Watch on the Rhine...

SNL Video: Maya Rudolph’s Beyoncé Returns to Hot Ones, Suffers Through More Wings in a Cowboy Carter Outfit
Image
Of course Maya Rudolph brought her Beyoncé impression back to Saturday Night Live this week… and of course she had to go back on Hot Ones.

Rudolph once again played the pop icon during her SNL hosting gig this week and tried to eat more painfully hot chicken wings as a guest on the talk show Hot Ones. (Rudolph’s Beyoncé previously visited Hot Ones in a March 2021 SNL sketch.) This time, Beyoncé — decked out in full Cowboy Carter gear with a cowboy hat — let host Sean Evans (played by Mikey Day) know right away: “It’s a pleasure for you to have me.

8 Movie Characters Who Disappeared Without Explanation
Image
Characters disappearing without explanation creates unresolved arcs that leave audiences wondering about their fate. Filmmaking decisions like cutting a character can impact the narrative, leading to incomplete storylines and audience dissatisfaction. Inconsistencies in character continuity, like sudden disappearances, can detract from the overall cohesion and impact of a film or franchise.

When a movie character vanishes from a story without explanation, it leads to many questions about where this character disappeared, and how their story might have ended. Audiences might come up with their own resolutions, or simply assume a character was killed offscreen, but there's no way to know if the movie doesn't confirm it. This kind of unfinished ending can happen in singular movies or between films within a series, but it's always jarring for viewers.

Regardless, leaving these character arcs open-ended is an obvious mistake that audiences are quick to point out.

A character being cut from...

7 Sylvester Stallone Roles That Arnold Schwarzenegger Would Have Done Better
Image
Despite their rivalry, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have a playful relationship and have appeared in movies together like The Expendables. Stallone regrets accepting the lead role in Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot because Schwarzenegger tricked him into thinking he was interested in the film. Schwarzenegger could have excelled in roles like Barney Ross in The Expendables or Rocky Balboa, bringing his distinct style and persona to the characters.

While Sylvester Stallone has had plenty of hugely memorable roles, it is hard to deny that there are some acting parts that his oldest rival, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would have done better. The two are both known for their action-packed films and, despite having unique personas and acting styles, it makes sense to compare the two to each other. While earlier in each of their careers the animosity between the two would lead to direct attacks on one another in the media,...

“Sergeant: Randeep Hooda Plays The Unhappiest Cop In The Universe In This Dark Brooding Drama” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
Sergeant (Jio Cinema)

Set in present-day London and shot with a pain-lashed intensity, Prawaal Raman’s Sergeant is partly a police procedural, partly a father-son conflict drama. But largely it is the story of a man so inured in his own pain and suffering that he actually seems to enjoy them.

Quite often in this intriguing drama of the doomed, I wondered what Randeep Hooda’s alcoholic cop Nikhil Sharma would be without his trauma. He would have no excuse to get drunk and abuse his father(Arun Govil) and his colleague and friend at the precinct Haider Ali (Adil Hussain) whom Nikhil suspects of being in cohoots with those criminals who destroyed his life and fastened his fate to pain . And that includes an amputated leg which leaves Nikhil, not wrongly, embittered about the people close to him, including Haider who for some strange reason refers to Nikhil’s...
