The story based on a real-life group of friends in Malegaon who one day decide to make their own film. The film is an absolute love towards cinema, yet its core theme is friendship. Writer who has written the film and has done a very good job. The dialogues are realistic and expressive, while the comic scenes are organic.
However, there are some letdowns in the screenplay which are like a bit dragging in the second half and certain conflicts being treated in a way much usual nature. Yet, the film makes up beautiful climax. . .
The art direction, costume, and makeup ate brilliantly done in such a low budget with research and predetermined procedure, while the cinematography is appropriate.
. CAST: Casting is adequate. Adarsh Gourav performed well for a boy who dreams of making his own films and delivers a very satisfying job. Vineet also performed well as per our expectations.
. Directed well and editing is okay in every aspect.
Highly recommended!

Reema Kagti's Superboys of Malegaon is a story based on a real-life group of friends in Malegaon who one day decide to make their own film. The film is an absolute love letter to cinema, yet its core theme revolves around friendship. Varun Grover has written the film and has done a very good job. The dialogues are clever and touching, while the humor is brilliant. If you are a fan of 70s cinema, you will appreciate the comedy even more. However, there are some letdowns in the screenplay, particularly due to tonal shifts in the second half and certain conflicts being treated too casually. Yet, the film makes up for it with a beautiful climax. The production design, costume, and makeup departments have done an excellent job, while the cinematography stands out. The score of the film is a hit
and a miss.
The casting is excellent. Adarsh Gourav plays the young boy who dreams of making his own film and delivers a avery good performance. Vineet, as the struggling writer, excels in emotional sequences. The rest of the Superboys and the girls, including Anuj Singh, Saqib Ayub, and Muskkaan, provide solid support. However, the true show-stealer is Shashank Arora, who gives an incredibly innocent and heartfelt performance. The friendship between his character and Adarsh's is portrayed as selfless love, culminating in a brilliant payoff. As the end credits roll and you hear a fellow audience member say, "Iss type ki picture banti rahe, aap apne dosto ko batao ye dekhne ko," you know the film has struck the right chord. Highly recommended!

It's refreshing to watch stories of real people of India. Our country is so diverse and has a rich culture. If we actually start searching, we'd find unbelievable stories of people which can move people. This movie is an attempt towards that. Hoping more bollywood directors would get inspired and make more movies like this.
I'm so done with mass entertainment movies. They seem like replica of each other and there's nothing original about them.
At the same time, audience needs to watch and support such cinema. It was sad to see a nearly empty theatre.
All the actors did an amazing job :) Highly recommended!

Just got back home after watching this beautiful film, and I'm still carrying its warmth with me. My brother- an emerging filmmaker- took my mom and me (a visual artist) to see it, and we were completely moved. Strangely, the theater was nearly empty, which isn't always the case when a mass entertainer hits the screens. It's disheartening how often mediocrity gets the spotlight while films like this, so rich in depth and honesty, go unnoticed.
The moment I got home, I found myself looking up behind-the-scenes clips, but before I knew it, I was on IMDb, compelled to rate it- not out of habit, but because of the profound impact this piece of cinema had on me. It's moving. It's original. It's honest. Like a warm hug you didn't even know you needed.
I was also reminded of a reel my brother had shared- a clip of filmmaker Aditya Kripalani talking about the importance of rating and reviewing films. That's how change happens- by amplifying voices that deserve to be heard. A powerful message, when shared with honesty, can go a long way. And films like this? They deserve to be seen.

This is one of the best Bollywood movies I've watched in ages! From start to finish, it kept me completely engaged. I absolutely loved the casting-every actor fit their role perfectly and delivered outstanding performances. The cinematography was visually stunning, enhancing the storytelling beautifully. The comic timing was spot-on, making the humor land effortlessly without feeling forced. A huge salute to the director and the entire crew for creating such a well-crafted and entertaining film.
I truly enjoyed every moment of this movie, and my family had a fantastic time watching it as well. It's been a long time since we came across a film that blends entertainment, emotions, and humor so seamlessly. I generally don't write reviews, but this movie deserves much more than just a review-it deserves all the appreciation and love! Highly recommended to everyone who enjoys quality cinema.

Some movies entertain you, some move you, and then there's Superboys of Malegaon; a film that does both, in the most unfiltered, heartfelt way possible. This isn't just a documentary about filmmaking; it's about dreams, struggles, and a love for cinema that refuses to be crushed by circumstances.
Superboys of Malegaon is the kind of film that doesn't come around often. It's real, it's raw, and it hits you right in the heart. If you've ever loved movies if you've ever dreamed of creating something despite the odds, or if you just want to see what true passion looks like-this, film is for you...

Beutiful movie made by beutiful people. Writer baap hota hai thats what shows in last 20 minutes. I thought that's 20 minutes can be elaborated more. First half is slow in describing character but that was the need of 2 nd half. Bahot dino baad movie dekh kar aasu aye hai.acting by all characters put this film on top.every character has dream and all are doing their bit to achieve it. Beutiful movie made by beutiful people. I just came out of an extremely bittersweet "special screening" of Superboys of Malegaon. The movie was simply fantastic with a perfect mix of heartwarming emotional drama and sweet realistic humor, augmented by terrific performances by an exceptional group of actors. The bitter part of the experience was the aspect of the "special screening" of the movie. Sitting absolutely alone in a theater on the opening weekend of a truly amazing piece of cinema. A beautifully crafted movie that deserves an audience, had absolutely no audience. Such a shame especially in a world where so many complaint about lack of originality, art and quality cinema.
Reema Kagti has done a terrific job making a movie about fans who love movies so much that they make their own movies. The story is based on the true story of the real Superboys of Malegaon who created their own mini film industry (un)known for its spoof comedies of great Bollywood and Hollywood movies. These Superboys first (almost) came into the limelight with the 2012 documentary "Supermen of Malegaon" which inspired Reema and team to bring their story to life on the big screen.
The movie is fast and entertaining with a healthy dose of scenes and performances that will make its viewer smile a lot, feel warm and good inside, think about things that are important in their lives and even tear up a bit. A simple and powerful story, passionately captured on camera with a superb group of artists infusing their characters with heart and soul.
Adarsh Gourav gives another exceptional performance as the movie's main superboy and is brilliantly supported by Vineet Kumar, Shashank Arora, Muskkaan Jaferi, Manjiri Pupala and practically every actor and actress in the movie. Each performance is truly heartfelt, real, wholesome, uplifting and awe inspiring. Which is why it was such a bittersweet experience watching such a well made movie in an empty theater.
It would be absolutely correct for people to say that such movies are meant for OTT and not for the big screen. However it is important for all to understand and recognize that this is the reason why such heartwarming movies cant find any place in theaters anymore. The Bollywood box office has completely transformed itself from a place where a big budget Ramesh Sippy blockbuster could play side by side with a heartwarming Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie to one that only has an appetite for over the top commercial cinema.
Such movies need and deserve support from their target audience. So if you want to experience a heartwarming tale about real people with dreams to become superheroes, grab a seat in the nearest empty hall near you that is still playing Superboys of Malegaon. It will not disappoint. Absolutely loved it. 9/10.

People making their own movie with their people in their own locality with their limited budget and in their own way on a known subject is something which gets everyone excited to watch it and to know more about it, especially when it's based on real characters. That's what got me to watch it as well.. And in fact it was really interesting and engaging to begin with but after the half stage mark it starts to dip a bit and continues to do so as nothing to bind your attention comes up which just leaves you for the ending to show up.
The main reason it didn't work for me is that I had seen the original documentary "Supermen of Malegaon" few days before the movie was released. And due to it I found the last half of the story lot different from the reality, which made all those things feel unnecessarily dramatised. I feel they could have stuck to the original story and should have find some other way for the closure.

Yaar, kya film hai. Simple, grounded, and refreshingly honest. It's that rare kind of cinema which doesn't shout to be heard, it just quietly moves you.
The story is rooted in reality and doesn't shy away from showing the emotional and financial risks of chasing dreams. It shows how difficult it is to balance passion with practicality, something most of us desi folks have felt at some point.
Characters feel real, flawed, and relatable. No overdone drama, just raw emotions and unfiltered storytelling.
Farogh's obsession with authenticity, his resistance to compromise, and his eventual realization that morals sometimes have to wait till survival is secured is beautifully done. It's rare to see a Hindi film that admits selfishness and emotional clashes exist even in small towns. That felt so fresh.
And films like these aren't even trying too hard to be artsy or message driven. They just stay true to the story, the real story that it is based on, and to the people, and to the rooted emotions. Aur wahi sabse bada impact daal jaata hai. No overacting, no "massy" overkill, no unnecessary tragedy. Just real people trying to live life, juggle dreams and responsibilities, with dignity.
And I loved Nasir and Shabeena's chemistry. This duo of Gaurav and Muskaan should probably think of doing more cinema as a pair. It's rare to see a film handle love and marriage with that kind of emotional maturity, especially without drowning it in melodrama. Just quiet moments of understanding between two people.

A great movie, typically elongated with stretched emotions typical of Bollywood. To be honest, the movie in the movie, even though declared as a parodies, were mockeries. And then they have this clichéd scenes in which every single person is laughing in the audi in the movie to overemphasize how much of a hit this movie team is becoming. And the worst?... the fake laughter of the fake audience can be seen through.
A good movie that would have become a great movie in the hands of a good Malayali or Telugu movie team.
Just the previous day, I watched the movie Court: State vs a Nobody. Its in a different league altogether. Bollywood can never rise above a certain level, because their old ideology of a movie should have emotions, comedy, drama, tragedy, us so entrenched that they don't realise there could be a terrific movie without this mish-mash, focused purely on a single solid plot without overt dramabazi.

A simple and endearing story of a small group of young men from a small town in India who are fascinated with film making. In their enthusiasm they decide to make a movie for the local residents. They start with joining strips from comedy movies much to the amusement of the locals but this is objected by the law as it amounts to piracy. They then decide to make a proper movie.
Despite their lack of experience they bond together as a dedicated team and go about making a movie for the entertainment of the locals. It's all about friendship and working together cohesively in a project.
The movie has many emotional moments as the friends have their differences and arguments. The narrative remains engaging most of the time. Director Reema Kagti has made a simple and adorable movie without going overboard with histrionics or melodrama Acting wise Adarsh Gaurav and Vineet Kumar have given fine performances.

Superboys of Malegaon (2025) :
Movie Review -
It just so happens-coincidentally-that Malegaon is my native place on my mother's side. Yet, this story has come as a surprise to me because I haven't been aware of it despite being so active in the media industry. Superboys of Malegaon is about the dreams and ambitions of amateurs residing in the village, and of course, there is your daily soap drama to create a dramatic incline. The film won me over with just one scene when an aspiring writer talks about Buster Keaton and his work. People who haven't seen One Week (1920), The Scarecrow (1920), The Goat (1921), Our Hospitality (1923), Sherlock Jr. (1924), Seven Chances (1925), Steamboat Bill, Jr. (1928), The Cameraman (1928), and many others (why he was greater than Charles Chaplin and Harold Lloyd at his prime) will not understand what those words coming from Vineet Kumar Singh meant. Likewise, there are a few moments that surely touched my heart, but then the cinematic liberty or dramatic motion standard that filmmakers come across pulls it down a bit.
The film follows a group of boys in Malegaon who embark on a journey to make a film in the village and for the village. Nasir Shaikh (Adarsh Gourav) is the director who chooses Sholay to create the parody titled "Malegaon Ke Sholay." Farukh (Vineet Kumar Singh) is a passionate writer but is always sidelined by Nasir until they part ways. Shafique (Shashank Arora) is loyal to Nasir but isn't getting his due. There are a few more members in the gang who create a box-office smash, and as every story has it, their journey also sees ups and downs. What follows is the tragedy with Shafique and how Nasir and Farukh decide to give him what he dreamed of!
Varun Grover and Reema Kagti have brought together some beautiful metaphors that are a treat to watch for people with a cinematic hunger. Nasir goes to film the wedding cassette of his ex-girlfriend, Mallika, and she cries while biding a good-bye to her family. What a beautiful frame it was! The married girl usually cries while looking back from the car, but here, this girl is looking at her ex-lover filming her with his camera, making it more natural and impactful. Similarly, it's good to see Shafique's romance, but other narratives of the characters are too preachy.
Nasir's marriage and his discomfort in front of his wife, followed by a sudden kiss, closely mirrors Shafique and Trupti sitting on a bench when, unexpectedly, they share a kiss. Gosh, I really don't think Malegaon is the right place to depict such modern actions that we typically see at Marine Drive. Furthermore, there is Farukh, who has neither a present nor a future. The guy spent a considerable amount of time in Mumbai and struggled, but somehow managed to earn a livelihood without a traditional job. How? The next time we see him, he is back in the village, and he feels no shame in it? The film could have made these elements more concrete and meaningful, elevating it far beyond what it currently is. Additionally, the climax should have included an extra scene of Shafique's felicitation or perhaps death to enhance its emotional impact.
Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, Iqbal Shaikh, Anuj Singh Duhan, Riddhi Kumar, Anmol Kajani, Saqib Ayub, Gyanendra Tripathi, Muskan Jaffery, and Majiri Pupala-all have performed well in their roles. The film boasts fine cinematography and editing, but the sound design and music department fall short. Some jokes crash terribly, lacking humor, and the gags are insufficient. Reema Kagti's attempt could have been superb, as the storyline and its essence are strong, but the screenplay and conflicts prevent it from reaching its true potential. Raj and DK's Cinemabandi successfully captured that atmospheric brilliance and authentic sense of village culture, while Kagti's film failed to balance these elements, giving unnecessary weight to romance and predictable melodrama. Overall, it's an honest attempt and watchable, but not SUPER-B!

Set in the late 90s in the dusty lanes of Malegaon, a small town in Maharashtra, Superboys of Malegaon tells the story of Nasir Shaikh, a wedding videographer who's losing business but not hope. When he decides to make his own films - spoofs of Bollywood blockbusters - with his gang of friends, it kicks off a journey that's as chaotic as it is charming.
They have no money, no fancy cameras, no formal training - just an unmatched love for movies, desi-level jugaad, and friendship that carries them through every setback. What they create isn't perfect, but it's theirs - full of heart, humor, and hustle.
From building a dolly with bicycle parts to casting local boys in hero roles, every moment of filmmaking becomes an act of rebellion - against the system, against expectations, and sometimes even against themselves. As their "film" comes to life, so does their sense of identity and purpose.

This film truly strikes the perfect balance between emotion, humor, and pure entertainment. It touches your heart in all the right ways while keeping you engaged with its wit and simplicity. The direction is superb-tight, thoughtful, and refreshingly grounded. Every actor in the cast delivers a stellar performance, breathing authenticity into each character and scene.
What really stands out is how Indian cinema is steadily evolving. There's a beautiful shift happening-away from over-the-top melodrama and massive, hollow budget films, and toward stories that are real, relatable, and human. This movie is a shining example of that transformation. No forced glamor, no unnecessary noise-just good storytelling, excellent casting, and moments that make you smile, tear up, and laugh out loud.

I've taken a break from writing reviews due to my busy schedule, but my love for movies remains strong. Recently, I heard great reviews about Super Boys of Malegaon and made an effort to watch it-what a remarkable film! Undoubtedly one of the best in recent years, it's an impactful masterpiece, much like 12th Fail.
Director Reema Kakati once again proves her brilliance after Talash and Dahaad, showcasing her impeccable storytelling. The performances were outstanding, with special mentions to my favorites-Vineet Kumar Singh, Adarsh Gourav, and Shashank Arora. Kudos to writer Varun Grover for another stellar job-I also miss your stand-ups!
Don't let its box office numbers deter you; this is the kind of cinema that keeps our love for movies alive. We need more films like this!

Amazing piece of cinema!! Brilliant acting!!
Adarsh Gaurav, Shashank Arora and Vineet kumar singh have infinite potential as actors and as a cinema lover, It gives immense relief to see that the future of Hindi cinema is safe in the hands of such actors. What a fine piece of art!
Passion for cinema, challenges in film making, simplicity and support of boys friendships as in how they have fights and how easily they come back together is phenomenally captured.
I would especially like to mention about Shashank's character Shafi. He has so many layers and with minimum dialogues, Shahshank has done full justice to it.
👏👏👏

Passion for cinema, challenges in film making, simplicity and support of boys friendships as in how they have fights and how easily they come back together is phenomenally captured.
I would especially like to mention about Shashank's character Shafi. He has so many layers and with minimum dialogues, Shahshank has done full justice to it.
👏👏👏
Superboys of Malegaon, directed by Reema Kagti, is a captivating and heartfelt ode to the indomitable spirit of small-town filmmakers. It is about people crushed under the burden of earning their daily bread, rising to do something extraordinary - in their own small way, in their own small world.
The cast gave a terrific performance and the dialogues were praiseworthy. Not only it showcases the struggles, but also focuses on friendship and how fame and money can become a reason of dispute amongst the closest ones. A movie that teaches about overcoming the struggles and hardships. This is a good product that came out of bollywood this year.
My Rating : 7/10.

If this doesn't win the box office, then honestly I don't know what will save Hindi cinema. Such a wholesome entertaining movie. Superboys of Malegaon has no big stars, just a deeply entertaining story about friendship, cinema and everything in between. I usually find movies "based on real life" a little annoying at this point, but not this one. This is the kind of people whose stories need to be told. There are some really beautiful frames that really connect with the audience. And performances, I don't even have to mention - everyone does a fantastic job. Such a refreshing concept and storytelling. It's so simple yet deeply moves us.

This movie is a heartfelt story about a group of men in the small town of Malegaon. They fight together, bond together, and can do anything for their friend. It shows the hardships faced by people from an unknown town, and when they try to punch above their weight. It is a general notion that people in smaller towns stick to general work streams and do not dare to explore unknown professions. This movie tries to change that and showcases how this group of people tries to create movies that people can enjoy. I was surprised to know that this movie is based on a true and real-life story. I would recommend people watch this movie as a tribute to the hard work done by the characters in real life.
Superboys of Malegaon has its moments, thanks to Vineet Kumar Singh's superb performance. His strong character adds depth to the film. However, the comedy falls flat, feeling forced and unnatural. The pacing is slow, which makes the movie drag at times.
Vineet Kumar Singh's performance is undoubtedly the highlight of the film. His character's nuances and emotions are well-portrayed, making him relatable. The poor comedy and slow pacing are major letdowns. The other characters lack depth and development, making it hard to connect with them.
Overall, Superboys of Malegaon is an average film that could have been better with more attention to comedy and character development. Despite its flaws, Vineet Kumar Singh's performance makes it worth watching. With some tighter editing and more nuanced storytelling, this film could have reached its full potential.

Superboys of Malegaon is a deeply inspiring and heartfelt tribute to the power of dreams, passion, and cinema itself. Set in the small town of Malegaon, where life is full of struggles, this film tells the story of a group of young dreamers who dare to make movies despite financial hardships, limited resources, and a lack of professional training.
What makes this film stand out is its raw authenticity and emotional depth. Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and the rest of the cast deliver natural, compelling performances that make you feel their struggles, hopes, and triumphs. The cinematography, though simple, perfectly captures the charm of grassroots filmmaking, while the screenplay blends humor and drama seamlessly.
