The 2014 Razzie nominations short list has arrived and it’s predominantly movies you’d expect to be in contention for worst of the year (dis)honors, but there are a couple of surprising selections in the mix, namely Noah and The Interview. No, they’re not the greatest, but they’re not bad movies either, let alone the worst. However, Transformers: Age of Extinction certainly deserves its nine Razzie short list positions and the same goes for A Million Ways to Die in the West and The Legend of Hercules and their eight possible nominations. The nominating ballots for the 35th Razzies just went out at the end of December so we won’t know which films scored the nods until the nominees are officially announced on Wednesday, January 14th. After that, final ballots are sent out and then the winners are revealed on Saturday, February 21st, the day before the 87th Annual Academy Awards.

The Interview has been performing well in its limited theatrical and online VOD release, taking in more than $15 million from online sales and rentals. The comedy has already expanded to cable VOD, Playstation, Vudu and more theaters nationwide. Despite its early success, The Interview has not been received well by at least one organization, The Golden Raspberry Awards, a.k.a. The Razzies, which has released its "short list" of nominees. The Interview is listed in several categories including Worst Picture, Worst On-Screen Combo (James Franco and Seth Rogen) and Worst Actor (both James Franco and Seth Rogen). Voting for the Razzie Awards ends on January 10, with the nominations to be announced January 14, one day before The Academy Awards nominations are announced.

You know those two films that make up the beginning of an adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged? You know how they made almost no money and received a well-deserved critical drubbing for being terrible? Well, now you can contribute a Kickstarter to make the final film, Atlas Shrugged: Part III, a reality. Not that the filmmakers need your help; they just would really like your money.
Producer Harmon Kaslow told THR that they do not really need the $250,000 they are asking for; they just want the publicity. They also want to make people angry:
There is an incredible amount of vitriol out there and we have every intention of capitalizing on it this time around. The day we launch the Kickstarter campaign those haters are going to come alive. They’re going to come after us in droves, attacking us everywhere online. To them, we say, thank you.
