"Prada: Candy" is the second of two short films Wes Anderson made for Prada, the popular and lucrative fashion company. Much like the first short, uniquely titled "Castello Cavalcanti," this one barely gets off the ground before it ceases, using its three minutes wisely but unmemorably. It illustrates the relationship between two best friends (Peter Gadiot and Rodolphe Pauly) and a woman (Léa Seydoux) as they both try to vie for her love in several different ways, each of which concluding with a statement to buy Prada's new fragrance "Candy" in the way that feels like concluding a commercial. I'm not sure what to make of these little advertisements Anderson seems to have cranked out in his sleep other than brief showcases for very dazzling cinematography and sharp aesthetic. There's little else to marvel at, but I suppose seeing somebody like Wes Anderson active in some way is better than seeing him fade into complete obscurity.
