Vanessa, Jesse and Catherine are a hoot and make the first half of the movie a slap happy show! The second part of the movie includes Clarie and Daniel which is another type of humor including cynism and wit hits that ad another dimension to the humor in this rom com. The movie is a silly, funny, well-written and well-executed show that made me laugh and realize just how life can sometimes be. I found it to be well worth my time as it is free of trash adult humor. If you enjoy movies on Great American Family channel then you will enjoy this one! The sets and the costumes and make-up are top notch!
There's nothing/no-one horrible in this movie, but it is just too over the top, kind of 'Haul Out The Holly' style. The main premise is totally unbelievable and the characters are true to life, but often too full-on. It is also a very dialogue-heavy script, so you have to pay attention, with a lot of it is jokes - it feels like an extra long sitcom! The relationship development is sweet - much of the movie is set in a short time frame, so it is a different dynamic to many rom-coms. I prefer the leads' previous (Christmas) movie together. Jesse Hutch's character is middle of the road zany compared to his other romantic / comedies.
My wife and I just finished watching this gem of a film. It was - and I promise this isn't hyperbole - a shockingly good movie.
First off, it had a veteran cast who was clearly really feeling this film. They were having fun, and it shows. The chemistry between the leads felt real and meaningful. They really played well off each other. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the dialogue was ad libbed.
The rest of the cast was great too. All familiar faces to the lower budget romcom scene.
The story was also interesting and felt at least somewhat plausible, while still being light and goofy.
One more interesting thing- the film's plot development/acts was very unique. It was done in a free flowing way which felt real and fresh. I'm not explaining this well, but it will be clear to anyone watching it. They really made an unexpected effort to create a unique film experience.
I can't recommend this fun, wacky and thoughtful movie enough.
