The band issued the following statement regarding their long hiatus and the new album:

“Pinhead Gunpowder started writing songs in 1990 and made our first 7” the following spring.

But since 2010, we’ve been playing just for ourselves, something bands forget to do. Rather than ‘writing for the new album’ or rehearsing to get ready for tour, we went back to the basement every year. We lived in the house we’d built, remembering how we’d made the music for...

Flynn will serve as co-creator, writer, and co-showrunner on the project and holds the rights to the novel. Brett Johnson will also serve as co-showrunner, co-creator and writer, with Guerrin Gardner also credited as co-creator and writer. “Dark Places” was originally published in 2009. The official description states:

Twenty-five years later, a pair of mother/daughter true crime ‘detectives’ locate a grownup Libby and pump her for details, believing that Ben is innocent. Libby, having spent...

‘Chowchilla’ True Story - What Happened to the Kidnappers and Victims?
Image
"I felt like an animal being taken to slaughter" – this is how Jennifer Brown Hyde, a Middle Tennessee State University executive assistant, recalled the entire ordeal that became the focus of CNN’s documentary film Chowchilla, which is now streaming on Max. Capturing the true story of one of the most shocking mass kidnappings in the history of the U.S., Chowchilla presents the perspectives of the 27 victims through survivor interviews that shed light on not only the horrendous experience endured by the group but also the trauma that followed them all their lives. Shifting the focus toward the aftermath of the kidnapping, which took place on July 15, 1976, in the quaint city of Chowchilla in Madera County, California, the CNN documentary celebrates the spirit of the 27 survivors who experienced both a devastating trauma and a life-saving miracle over a 48-hour period.

HBO and Max New Releases: January 2024

One of HBO’s former hot properties returns in a big way this January, as True Detective season four finally arrives on the service. Will this be a return to form for the gritty show? Well, that remains unclear, but this time around the anthology series will follow detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) as the long winter darkness in Alaska. When eight people at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace, these detectives need to get on the case quickly.

Also hitting Max this month is the final season of Sort Of. Season three finds Sabi (Bilal Baig) dealing with the unexpected death of their father, and making some big life choices as a result.

‘Chowchilla’: When a School Bus Full of Kids Mysteriously Disappeared
Image
The tale begins with a crime that left everyone baffled. In July 1976, a school bus carrying 26 children (and one driver) was hijacked in the sleepy Central California town of Chowchilla. The kidnap victims were taken to two vans, driven to an abandoned rock quarry, led off the bus, and essentially buried alive in an underground compartment full of mattresses. Things like that just didn’t happen in a town like this.

Seventies California was loaded with bad juju, from the Zodiac Killer to the Patty Hearst kidnapping to Jim Jones.
