Indiecan takes Berlin prize winner ‘Sunshine’ for North America

Indiecan Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Sunshine, the Filipino drama that won the Crystal Bear for best film in the Generation 14plus section of this year’s Berlin film festival.

The deal also covers remake rights to the film and an English-language adaptation is set to be directed by Indiecan’s Avi Federgreen, with Federgreen Entertainment and Michaelangelo Masangkay’sSine Media Inc producing.

Tom Papa Weighs in on His New Netflix Special, Sweaty Tom Cruise and the Seinfeld of It All

A funny thing happened to comedian Tom Papa as he prepared to promote his hysterical new stand-up special, Home Free — Jerry Seinfeld stopped by Papa’s Breaking Bread podcast. “We were just planning on talking about comedy in general,” Papa told me. “You know, just catching up with old friends.”

It was the pod in which Seinfeld walked back earlier comments about the Left killing comedy, landing Papa directly in the middle of a national conversation. As Home Free premieres today on Netflix, we discussed what happens when Seinfeld weighs in on comedy culture, the time Tom Cruise got him all sweaty before his first Letterman appearance and how the podcast revolution has put comedians right back where they started.

The Netflix October 2024 schedule features such titles as The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist, Car Masters: Rust to Riches Season 6, The Diplomat Season 2, Don’t Move, Heartstopper Season 3, Hellbound Season 2, It’s What’s Inside, and The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3.

‘Big Brother’ Ratings Steady To Top Night, ‘Aquarius’ Hits Season High

CBS’ summer reality staple Big Brother was Thursday’s top-rated show and helped the network win the night again in both the demo an total viewers. CBS’ win was helped by primetime’s most-watched show — a Big Bang Theory rerun at 8 Pm.

Big Brother, in the third week of its 18th cycle, was second in total viewers on the night, and it was even in the demo with last week. It won the 9 Pm hour against a slew of fellow originals, with Week 2 of ABC’s Greatest Hits dipping from its debut to finish second, followed by NBC’s Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, and Fox’s Home Free and the CW’s Beauty And The Beast, both even with last week.

‘MasterChef’ Season 7 Gets Summer Premiere Date On Fox

Fox has a date for the next helping of its summer reality staple. The net said today that Season 7 of MasterChef will get cookin’ on June 1 with host Gordon Ramsay and pastry chef Christina Tosi. Wolfgang Puck is among the guest judges along with fellow celebrity chefs Aaron Sanchez, Edward Lee, Kevin Sbraga and Richard Blais.

In the season premiere episode, 40 home cooks will travel to Los Angeles, where they will attempt to earn a coveted white apron and move forward to compete for the MasterChef title, a cookbook deal and the $250,000 grand prize. Judging the battle rounds, Ramsay and Tosi will taste for flavor, creativity and presentation. “Each of the guest judges brings a unique perspective and skill to the kitchen that we believe will propel America’s best home cooks to the next level,” said Ramsay, who inked a new two-year deal with Fox last summer.
